I don't usually need a tool to remove my filter but when I do I prefer the Honda recommended filter wrench (Honda Part #07AAA-PLCA100). This filter was obviously too tight. I ordered several crush washers (P/N: 94109-14000) ahead of time so that I always have them. Also I always end up needing more than 4.4 quarts but never the entire 5 quarts in the jug.
@@MobileCarMechanic because the shops tighten up these filters and drain plugs, that’s the reason I do my own oil changes. My ‘16 Civic is pretty much set-up the same as your Accord. I just got tired of the shops rounding off my drain bolt, or stripping the threads on my oil pan. 🤨
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Quick question... my accord 2015 sometimes rarely shutdown when I'm driving, but it comes back in seconds, like " restarting " it could be for the lack of oil change??? Great videos and great explanations!
Thank you for making this Honda oil change video.

It could be the alternator or your battery going bad.
Good job
Thanks
R u in NYC by chance?
Nope. In Northern Virginia.
My 2014 accord 2.4l 4 cylinder takes almost the entire 5qt jug and the dipstick doesn’t even show that it’s at the 2nd dot.
That is odd, Oil Capacity 4.4 qts with filter being replaced. Were you measuring it on an incline?
@ no, it was on flat surface, I checked first thing in the morning today on the cold engine and it’s 3/4 full between the two dots.
Why not drop the crankcase oil first?
It doesn’t really matter honestly!
