I know potty train Bassett Hounds can be a real struggle. This has made it so much easier for us! Here is the link if you want to buy the bell! amzn.to/31xcUeZ
Gosh Bassett hounds are so freaking cute 😭😭😭 She’s adorable! Those sweet puppy dog eyes after she rings the bell! 🥹 We have an 8-month-old hound mix we’re potty training, which is what brought me here. I have a bell coming tomorrow - hope it works for her! Thanks for the suggestion! ❤
I have three bassets (I know, glutton for punishment 😅) and my middle girl is all about her bells! She will ring them gently if she wants outside, but if I don’t immediately get up then she scoops it up onto her neck, backs up and lets it smack against the sliding glass door 🤣
we have had our basset hound for 4 weeks now and potty training has been tough so i am so glad to see this and we will try ordering this bell now, and pray. :D i have had many dogs, and potty training has never been a problem until now with a basset hound :D i will update if it works :D
My 11 month old basset perked right up with she heard the bells. We too use them but she has atoll been our most difficult dog to train. Also our favorite🤫 and are now forever Bassett lovers
Thank. Going to give this method a try. I think it will work. Pavlov. Appreciate the video. We haves 10 week male who is a challenge and expected that. Hope he catches on sooner than later
I’ve got a basset shar pei mix. She’s so hard to potty train! I’ve had her 4 years almost. We just moved out of my parents and the first thing she did was use the bathroom on the new carpet lol.
Thanks for this video! We're in northwest Michigan and getting a basset puppy in August. I've been researching the potty training issue. Question: with your second one, who at the time of the video 10 months old, how long did it take until you were able to trust her on the carpet? I joke with my wife that getting a basset puppy is really just a reason to replace our carpet ;-) But having reasonable expectations is important. Thanks!
Hi! I would say less than 6 months as long as we were home. We would confine her to the kitchen at night and we weren’t home though. Good luck! We love Bassets!!
@@gandflegacyfarm1172 I joke with my wife that getting a puppy is really just a ploy to replace our carpet with hard surface flooring ;-). We're really looking forward to adding a basset to our home. Trying to educate ourselves as much as possible to manage expectations. So far, I think a basset will fit nicely in our home and our lives. Thanks!
@@gandflegacyfarm1172 hmm. i live with 2 guys and they're pretty loud lol. did your dog chew on the bells when they were a puppy. that's another concern of mine. my girl is only 4 months next week!
I don't see how you don't allow them to roam around the house, and then ring the bell.... You can guarantee my 2-month-old basset is going to sniff and pee somewhere within TEN MINUTES of her being out of her 5x5 pin. I don't see how this method can work, because we can't let her roam free so she would have no chance to go to the bell. I simply just take her out every hour and a half or so.
Is there a way you can put a bell on her pen? At that age we also try to let puppies out about every 30 minutes if they are being active. It’s a lot of work, but with positive reinforcement and repetition you will see results. Good luck with your puppy! Bassets are the best!

The bells are a game changer! It’s so hard to hear a dog scratching at the door if you’re in another room, so having the bells helps out so much!

I swear it’s in their DNA lol I swear by the bell method though!
We have a basset hound, he's starting to figure out the bell thing, still not fully trained yet, he's only 8 months old
Thanks for this video!

How long does it take to potty trained Bassett Hounds? Thanks.
I'm trying to teach my basset to speak to go out. i feel like I'll hear her bark better than bells
Mine aggressively rings the bells lol. I can hear it well, and if I don’t respond quickly enough she does it again.

Nope, she never chewed them either and she does like to destroy things.
@@gandflegacyfarm1172 interesting. I'll look into it, thanks so much!
