Excellent figure, but the way Mattel painted the face spoils it. I just repainted his eyes and added the missing eyebrows, and it makes a world of difference. Gives him so much more personality.
I am digging these retro figures! They take me back to my childhood! Back in '82, I got He-Man, Battle Cat, Castle Grayskull for Christmas; blew my mind! I got Prince Adam for my birthday 🎂 as a surprise! I've been down since day one and I appreciate and enjoy your reviews, brother!

@@robd1329 lol those are motu origins. Those can be purchased on Amazon/eBay for cheap. They are not high value, resell barely profitable. I’m referring to motu classics (those were not in store, they were preorder online purchase only via Mattel subscription). Classics are overpriced via resell. Anyone can get origins, cheap quality. However the classics are high quality, collector items
I bought this figure yesterday here in the UK. I wasn't planning to. I actually collect the Mega Construx MotU range (which I love) but I saw Origins Trap Jaw and Evil Lyn in the comic shop and figured eh let's see what these are like so picked Trap Jaw (cos has more play features than Evil Lyn, plus I never owned a Trap Jaw figure and I have two MCX Evil Lyns AND her vintage figure as one of the vintage figures I grabbed in a car boot sale a while ago). And yeah he's pretty cool. Not sure if I will collect many Origins (I prefer MCX due to smaller size and cheaper cost) but he's a fun figure. I didn't realise these Origins figures can come apart almost as much as the MCX ones are designed to. That's neat. :) And while I may prefer the proportions and style of Classics, I never could afford those figures. Even with ThunderCats which is my fave toon ever, I'm struggling to afford much of those at all. So far only have Ultimate Lion-O and figuring out how to afford the big Mumm-Ra. Origins is a nice affordable range of MotU figures. Odd how they're actually cheaper than Super 7's version of the vintage figures (in the store Origins Trap Jaw was £16.99 while his super 7 vintage was £19.99 reduced in sale from £24.99) when Origins has way more articulation.
great figure, it is worth noting that the neck peg is not the same as other figures it only has a swivel and no ballpeg joint when you pop the head off. I wonder if the upcoming Kronis figure will have the same ?
PSA: There are two variants of this figure currently! One with additional robot arm shoulder articulation and one without. You can tell by a gap appearing in between the arm and torso when it’s in the package.
Love this figure but something to note: his robot arm can move up and down (like to T pose is best way to describe it), it’s just very tight, thought the articulation wasn’t there until I pulled his arm off and moved in manually
@@xirtlem616 ya, looks pretty good on different ones, but the black piece on his right shoulder is moulded onto him so you can’t take that off like the 80s one
Be careful. The first run does not have that shoulder articulation. I guess they heard the complaints and added that function. Just a warning as I broke my first one thinking it would move up and down.
I bet the eyes are a misinterpreted mistake made at the factory. They'll probably redo this when it's a non-walmart exclusive and go back to the original eyes.
Love your videos! I'm 17 (18 on the 21st) and I just got Kronis and I really want trap jaw! I got into motu thanks to you Dan, so thank you for introducing me to such a welcoming and fun fandom!
All my Pre-orders for wave 2 figs canceled by Walmart and Amazon. Being a toy collector these days whose fave line is MOTU is so cool. I get to see so many people on social media sites having a blast playing with, showing off, reviewing, etc. their new He-Man toys, while I practice the fine arts of spoiler-dodging, patience, anti-envy, etc. It ain’t easy, but some of us have to do it!
I HATE having to go to Walmart but BOY am I glad I had to go today! Found a few figures from that Wave 1 display and there were just enough left to get all six and they had 1 battle cat left in the toy aisle....I was STOKED!!!!!
you can pop both arms off but the joint system for the robot arm is a little different then the regular ones it sits a little high then at the angle the normal body's have so it looks odd when you put one the normal arms onto his body also that black section isn't removable like on the vintage
Well done for saying "It works nicely/well", rather than; "It works nice/good" I appreciate the correct grammar when kids are watching and picking up your speech patterns! 👏
It’s not easy at all to collect MOC with this line. BBTS collector grade is the best bet. So many things can go wrong with these less than sturdy cards, and then there is scuffing on the bubble to worry about
So why does he have a cannon arm?.. what happened to his arm?..I do remember reading his face that skeletor rip his jaws off.that was how he got a metal mouth.
Yes, there is a 200X comic that shows his origin story, where he tried to overthrow Skeletor and was seriously injured in the process. Now Trap Jaw "loyally" serves Skeletor (although he is secretly plotting his revenge).
I was sort of warming up to the somewhat low effort faux-80s designs after He Man and Skeletor turned out okay but everyone else just looks kind of sad sitting next to every other $15 $20 figure line on the shelves right now since the paint looks so bad even when compared to the originals.
Trap jaw was my favorite He-man action figure as a kid. I remember a dream Christmas night that I was playing with the toy. When I woke up the next morning, the first present I opened was Trap Jaw. Maybe my parents gave it to me first on purpose. All I know is that's my most memorable Christmas ever. Merry Christmas! (true story)
I'm wondering how well this line is actually selling. It would appear it's doing great, but if you factor out all the scalpers, of which there's literally hundreds on eBay, I think once the exclusive Wal-Mart contract ends, we'll be able to tell if they're really selling that well. I hope it doesn't take a nose dive once the figures are more readily available, because I'm enjoying what they're doing with the line so far.
My favourite toy growing up I had to get this one, that being said now I have to get more, also picked up skelator! Did his arm bend on the show? I don't think it did. I prefer the head on the vintage figure.
Gotta keep an eye out for this wave but it's nice not to have to stress because Mattel has impressed me with keeping these figs rolling out. Completed Wave 1 without issue.

I really want to like these, I love the articulation and am ok that they are less detailed, it is a cheaper production after all. But those super bright colors make them look super cheap and off-putting to me.
Interesting if I remember correct in Trapjaw's original mini comic he crashes into Grayskull forcing He-man and Skeletor to team up to stop him last frame showed Skeletor carry away the body of Trapjaw
I don really like it, honestly. When I get mine, definitely gonna paint over it. Origins is still a really great toy line, it’s just that some of the head sculpts I wish were just the original ones (especially Mer-Man)

Camera foolery. Get him in hand and you will see the face is not bland and and helmet is not pink. This new rendition of Trap Jaw is awesome...but again you have to have it in hand to appreciate it.
Not true, they are very close to the vintage figures. I compared Trap Jaw side by side with his vintage figure, and they are nearly identical. Origins Trap Jaw's head is actually a bit wider/larger than the old one.
That elbow articulation on its mechanical arm is such a great improvement over the original, too bad the claw attachment isn't articulated as well. Overall great sculpt except for the face.
I don't. His new eyes make him look expressionless, like a robot. The lack of eyebrows was also a mistake. His Classics eyes are way better, giving him much more personality.
Going to say it again, I really hope Mattel uses these sculpts to do a Filmation line as well. Super 7 did an okay job but these sculpts would be better. Crossing my fingers.

Tri-Klops too, so there's still a chance...
Oh, yeah I remember that too; I have a Tricolops that came with one too.!
Thanks for that cool reminder! I forgot about that. They should have bright that back.

Heroic ones in red details...

The eyebrows need to painted...That is the biggest discrepancy from the original and classics versions...
Agreed. Repainted him myself, and I can attest that Trap Jaw's head sculpt looks a lot better with eyebrows and yellow eyes/black pupils.
Not that fond of the head sculpt. The "recent" Super7 one is the preferred one, in my opinion.
I love the updates to Trap Jaw. He's the best of Wave2, better than Scareglow imo, yes I said it.
It's a very monster-looking update. It kinda rocks! 👍
