  • Episode 3: Dream Interpreter
This is the third episode of my little miniseries made in LittleBigPlanet 3 that retells the story of Joseph from the Bible! Voice acting is credited in the last episode. This is Episode 3 of 5.
In this episode, Joseph is a prisoner for the accusations made against him last episode. But he has a lot of responsibility even here and meets two interesting new cell mates who have some interesting dreams.
== Behind the Scenes Ramble ==
Starting with this episode, I had all the basic sets already set up for all future scenes. I no longer needed to build a prison, or an egyptian street, etc, for whatever scene I had next. I think the most I made was that rocky trapdoor for the baker's execution (something which is, in my opinion, the funniest part of the series - his face and the sound effect kills me everytime!) And of course there were the dreams, which were much simpler by comparison with their simplistic designs. I enjoyed making them work, especially since LBP has a lot of resources that are well suited for the sets I needed, though having a ton of DLC from years ago really helped, especially the history pack.
I also used music in the episodes themselves for the first time in this series. It's stuff from LBP's own soundtrack that I put in the levels. The two tracks used in this episode are 'Reassurance' and 'Victory' by Paul Thomson. I like how their use turned out. In fact, frankly, I really like the pacing of this episode. It's one of my favourites.
The scene with Joseph facing Pharaoh from across that large room was done with two settings, one with Joseph standing in front of Pharaoh as seen in the zooms and a second with Joseph standing in front of a wall and facing a camera. It was fun to work with that shifting perspective to sell you on the idea that it's one big room.
I think if there's one thing I'd improve, it's that I like the quick shots of the characters sleeping and the camera zooming into their dreams, but I think they're a bit too quick. I think I just underestimated them in the initial recording, or perhaps I didn't realise what it would look like until it was too late or maybe the voice clips were just a bit faster than I was expecting. I don't remember, but in any case, it comes across a bit rushed to me. The animations in general have improved though! Definitely figured out a good system for them, at least.
