- I've had this transparent shell for my Radiomaster Boxer, laying around for couple of months now. I've decided to do a custom paint and give my Boxer a little makeover :)
Don't get me wrong, I love its default black shell... but after this makeover, my Boxer will be customized exactly the way I like it. Especially with those incredible blue LED gimbal rings. I took some time to make this nice and clean job. I have to say I'm super happy with final results.
In case you decide to do this with your transparent shell, I can't stress enough how important it is not to have thick layer of paint around the holes where buttons sit when transmitter is assembled at the end. I advise to avoid painting those areas all together. There is nothing more annoying than buttons not moving smoothly, and sticking to the paint. Even when it's super dry, your buttons will stick. However, If you already painted those areas, take some serious time to clean and remove paint from there using acetone or whatever works the best for removing the paint (depending on what kind of paint you used as well). Regarding the stick ends (grippies)... They're called "Thumb Grippies Mini Mushroom Stick End".

I was always a fan of light blue, cyan, turquoise in combination with black. So, I thought why not... I wanted something different than standard black, and this worked perfectly. It also makes all the buttons easier to see and navigate through everything. Did you see what I did with my Tango II nostalgia case while ago? It's not that I used glow-in-the dark color, but the fact that I used the one that has the most "violent", most pronounced reaction to being exposed to light... even just for couple of seconds. Purple, especially kaoss purple, looks amazing. I have two quads with kaoss purple as their main colors :)

Not so much in love with gold, but as always... to each their own. I am sure that combo would make some quite happy. I was thinking clean cyan and black, but if I had to add some accents, another, third color to the mix... it would be purple, kaoss purple.

Yes, that is correct. These are working perfectly fine and to tell the truth, I have not noticed a lot of difference between the stock ones and the AG01, except for the looks. As long as these work fine, I plan to keep them.

Really nice mod. I had expected the AG01 gimbals bring noticeable precision compared to the standard. I ordered a Boxer with AG01 today to compare it to my Tango 2 with the pyrodrone cnc gimbals.
@@gerki_fpv - Yes, they should be... but I'm pretty positive not many would notice the difference if you get them to fly blindfolded and randomly hand them different gimbal transmitters. I fly with my Tango II (another one of my mod videos: ua-cam.com/video/zP4IDfCFHoM/v-deo.html ), and my Radiomaster Zorro with standard gimbals, and never ever had a single problem controlling my quads. If you take a look at some of my flight videos, I don't do a lot of tricks and whatnot (not really my style at the moment), but every single one video I upload is one take, no cuts, no crashes... I take it slow and for that I strongly believe these HALL gimbals are good enough. Of course, if you have extra money on hand, it's nice if you can upgrade your gimbals.
@@Seii-FPV i try to fly my 2,5“ as precise as possible indoors. The switch of the pyrodrone gimbals was a huge improvement. Last week i tried a Mambo and i was very suprised how good the mambo lay in my hand. The Boxer is the same size and my other aim is to reduce the size of the immortal antenna by using elrs on my smaller quads. Its a very hard step for me with mixed feelings, because i love my Tango with the pyrodrone gimbals. And i love it more since a few days because i switched to the tbs crown jewels, love it.

Cleaning the insides of the top cover. Even when it gets out of the factory, it's not as clean as it should be (micro particles, dust, finger prints, etc.). Any kind of oils from simple touching it with fingers, can change the texture of the paint, and even ruin it. I am aware I could never clean it perfectly, but it takes couple of seconds to do it, so why not.

@@Sohail187 - Just make sure you read this video's description in case you decide to paint your trransparent shell. Pay great attention not to screw up all those openings/holes where buttons are suppose to rest once your transmitter is assembled. The last thing you want is sticky buttons. Regardless of how long you wait until your shell is dry, if there is even a slightest excess of paint in those areas, buttons will constantly be sticking on them. I advise to mask those areas completely and don't let the paint touch them at all. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble that way. I've learned it the hard way couple of years back when I painted my old Xbox controller, so I did not repeat the same mistake with this one. It's simply unbelievable how annoying sticky buttons can be. You want them to flow smoothly at all times.

It's of course personal preference, but I can fly as a thumber, pincher, or hybrid pinch/thumb, doesn't mater. Any use case, I love them! Amazing result! So you've just painted the inner side?
Yes. Shell is transparent, so I'm thinking why not using that to our benefit... This way you don't have to use finishing coat to protect paint from our hands (sweat, dirt, all that causes paint to start basically melting and peeling off at some point, sooner or later). This way, paint is inside, and transparent plastic over it, even gives it some nice frosted look. Controller is always nice to the touch, not sticky or that plasticky feel since we did not apply any paint to the top side.

There is another way of doing it... it's not as messy as dealing with paint and fumes, and it's way faster. Take a look at this, the same applies for transparent shells, just be cautious with the temperature and how long you're keeping it inside the pot. @@alexandrvishin8411 - yes. Note that if you're staining your transparent case using that method, you won't end up with solid color. That works amazing on TPUs, especially white ones. For transparent shells (Tango II nostalgia case, Radiomaster Pocket, Boxer) you will end up with transparent color... it will be stained, but it will still be see through.
