Gangle is so relatable in this. Bipolar and schizoaffective hits hard. Luckily Im doing better now, but comfort character like this can really help people in their own situation too!! At first I was a hater of this show because of the amount of brain rot, but now I kind of enjoy it!
The masks are a placebo. Gangle acts how she thinks she's supposed to act with each one, but this episode proves they have no actual control over her feelings. She can smile while in "tragedy" mode, and look sad in "comedy" mode. By being given an unbreakable comedy mask, she started forcing herself to pretend she was happy all the time, which anyone who works in retail will tell you is EXHAUSTING.
Not sure if anyone caught that reference. But at Time stamp 13:50. When the TV flashed and that tune popped on. I could swear that was from movie Halloween 3, Season of the Witch.
It's my favorite episode so far! The overtly mundane adventure theme paired with Gangle's constant shift between her Bipolar manic highs and depressive lows really highlights the dissonance between what reality is and how these characters will never really have that kind of normalcy again. Gangle *was* a shift manager at one point, and for her to be put back into a role we know to be essentially gone forever? It's just sad. This episode is just so bleak when you think about it, and that's what makes it the best out of the four so far, imo. It's just going to get more gut wrenching from here, folks, and I can't wait!
It’s your favourite episode? I thought it was interesting but I didn’t think it would be someone’s favourite. I’m happy to hear that since I really liked this episode as well.
I don't know if it's the same for all 3D software but in blender whenever you duplicate an object it adds a number to it such as cube.001. I wonder if maybe they're hinting that Jax is a duplicate and not the original Jax
As a game dev, I can confirm that's how it works in games that operate like The Digital Circus, too. Whenever most NPCs are spawned in, it's a new instance of that entity copied from the game's files. Gummigoo 0 and Gummigoo 1 are both effectively clones.
Don’t know if people have noticed something with Pomni and Gummygoo’s interaction. When Gangle is yelling at Pomni. She mentions Gummygoo’s name and you can see his face have a reaction like wait how did she know my name? It looked like he was about to ask her about something but then Gangle kept talking.
So true! Also idk if I'm reading into it too much but during their last interaction, when Gummigoo is leaving and Pomni says goodbye, Gummigoo kind of gives her a look that makes me think he really knew something was going on there. Maybe not what was going on exactly, but he seemed unsure or just like resigned or something.
I feel like his expression was also pretty weird when he left. It looked like he was in pain, but differently from when he was weirded out by her. I definitely don't think he remembered, but he might have felt something, like an anxious sense of dejavu or discomfort
I absolutely relate to Gangle this episode. My bipolar shows itself as manic highs a lot too, but when the depression hits, it HITS. It'll be a full mood shift switch too. I'll be flying with overconfidence one moment only to feel the crushing weight of my reality hit me, then all the confidence turns to air and I completely fold to my own sadness, looking for the next wave of happiness to hit. The feeling of wanting a mask to help me feel "normal" is INSANELY identical to my expressions in therapy (when I was able to go. American medical system is notoriously awful) This show is strangely heavy for how casually it drops serious topics on us. The irony of these characters being more real than real life people is insane.
I don't have bipolar, but I relate to Gangle too. Ragatha and Jax saying they don't like Gangle being her true self, and preferring back when she used to hide her personality under a sad and shy persona is so sad, dude...Coming from a 17 year old who acts a lot like Gangle; that part hit me in the feels. At least Zooble and Pomni were treating her nicely. As for Pomni; omg, when I saw Gumiggoo return, I was like: "No way!! They said he was going to return, but this soon?!" Pomni not knowing what to say to him, since she knows his memories were erased ever since his 'death' is sad...No matter how long she talks to him, she won't be able to help him regain his memories of their friendship... This episode is definitely the best so far! Gangle never struck me as the Manager type, so hearing she was a Manager in her real life at one point shocked me! But after seeing her, she definitely was a wonderful manager.
I feel like this new Mask might also represent switching prescription meds or something which caused random manic episode. And the whole message that Jax and Rag saying shifts to “I liked you when you were off meds completely”. Or maybe I’m projecting here my own story idk
the '.001' on Jax's car is what 3-d modeling programs do when you duplicate an object. It's either a silly off-handed joke about the models being hastily grabbed and dropped into the adventure without any planning, or it's foreshadowing that the characters are duplicates and not uploads: their real selves are still out there in the real world living normally, completely unaware that these digital versions of themselves are dealing with all of this.
14:49 i thought i understood what you meamt but not sure. Normally there is a fridge that looks like a cabinet where meet or other food like fries are stored so it might look like what i think you described. Where your mouse was pointing with buns stacked like that is accurate. Basically food that doesn't go bad easily is as prepackaged and ready to go as it can be and meat is always at least refrigerated b4 cooking Normally in a much less oeganized bag then everything else. This is subjective though as even though there is a very similar gist they captured well, how everything is stored and handled differs from one place to another. Often there's a large stock that's frozen and someones job is to move enough for the day or a certain time period to the front cabinet like fridge where it can be semi-esily grabbed. In this restraunt it looks like that might be under the counter which is a really dumb place for it but while i haven't seen it done that way, is realistically stupid bc there's always one obvious oversight like that. I don't think it's possible but it might also be directly under those stoves as the freezer being next to them does actually make sense. As does Zooble premaking the patties despit the fact she will probably have to throw most of them away. Fast food TRIES to be sanitary especially with meat it just usually fails and panics at it when contamination does happen. No fast food would survive keeping patties loose in a drawer. Every manager i know would have a melt down 20:07 as someone who has basically been gangle shift leader, attitude and all (thankfully cut short b4 power trip took hold but came close) I took it as both a metaphor for masking fir mental health issues and particularly at the beginning "normal in a good way", medication. If you normally break down easy and take a medication that helps you get through it sometimes it doesn't help the core issue it just stops you from being so visibly upset and it can be so effective that you annoy/freak people out. In my case I took a supplement that gave me energy I wasn't used to having but it would irritate and freak people out that I could be so cheery to the point of invalidating their emotions or seem like I didn't care about what I should as a human as I was focused on being positive for the sake of the job. It still effected me in reality I could just hide it better and was praised by upper management when I did.
How come every reaction people forget ragtha got hit wit that stupidsauce. Also gummygoo doesnt remember pomni cause he died and reset. Best ep by far. Gangle#1. Jax character development in this was great too.
There are a couple of things I notice watching the series. 1) There is no episode where all of them go. First epi. Pomni appeared after the clown abstracted. Second epi. Zooble stayed behind. Third epi. Zooble again. This epi. Kinger stayed behind. This might be just due to having only four episodes so far. 2) Caine glitches out when he started to compliment himself. Another subtle hint that Caine is cracking after talking with Zooble. 3) The recent 3 and 4th episodes pulled from the experiences of the characters themselves. So whos memory would the new scary episode come from? "The Curse of the Violent Psychopathic Butcher." 1:50 I want to say Jax because he seems the closest to having 'security' related skills and personality. Jax is similar to, "Sam and Max" video/comics series of the 80s and 90s. I am not thinking of him as a butcher, but as a corrupt PI.
If I remember what Pomini said that is still feels like I’m gonna die does that mean that they can’t die but they can still feel pain oh God Raggatha 😨🫢
