I just realized that in the training video, when Gangle it's talking about being a comic/manga artist, she's not only referring to herself, but it also explains why we see her draw alot in the show.
I remember someone saying on Twitter that during that this episode was probably the closest we got to witnessing an abstraction. If Pomni hadn't spoken to Gangle during that moment where the camera is zooming in on her during the closing shift, she mostly would have abstracted then be sent to the basement like Kofmo.
If you work a retail/fast food job, then you have to find that balance of working just efficiently enough to where you are a valued employee but not so good a job as to be seen as capable of handling more responsibilities than you are willing to take on.
I would over-perform when I worked nights because I would get anxious about getting yelled at by management and they eventually started over-relying on me to help out other areas who were behind on freight, it actually resulted in back/sciatic nerve pain and frequent panic attacks. Thankfully my workload on days is a lot more manageable, basically just zone my area and do my area returns.
This episode really nails the effects of depression. Gangle is wearing a mask she is unfamiliar with that covers up her tragic face. She's snapping at the dream of being a manga artist towards Jax despite that being her dream in an act of projection. Every criticism she gets feels like her soul being shattered. Then there's her standing listless and sad while staring into space at the end of the day. I know because I've done that as someone who suffers from depression. Thank goodness Pomni and Zooble were there to provide some support.
I also think Ragatha being there at times does help, but sadly, you face the fear or judgment of genuine caring when you are being nice. Like I feel Ragatha does help in a daily or constant way, like talking or listening to Gangle, but sadly was knocked out with the sauce thing so couldn't had been there for that. Like you know what Pomni did at the end, offer to close up, Ragatha would had offered too.

"Blood is thicker than water". So then why do my friends feel more like family than my actual family? Also, blood is just water with red living particles in it, so that analogy falls apart. Also also, my stepdad constantly says this. Let me repeat that; my STEPDAD has the audacity to constantly tell me that blood is thicker than water. The shakes were EXTRA THICCC, and Chocolate with peanut butter was my usual whenever I got it, usually on weekends.
The fear of punishment can be a pretty good motivator, especially if it's a punishment for being the worst of the bunch. It's like that joke about outrunning a bear. You don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than someone else.
I've got a feeling that Gangles Mask is not just a play on "hiding emotions", but also an alegory for Medication. Now i am neither a professionel, nor a patient. Im just saying as im seeing. Gangle gives me the feeling that she has Depression. And i have heard that you dont just get one pill and everything is ok. It is a mix of Medication and a long journey of trial and error. Your Therapist and Psychologist give and watch. Hoping they will find the combination that works for you fast. "The mask was'nt the right one" gives me "the medication was'nt right" vibes.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for almost 3 years. It does.Have its cons Depending on the restaurant chain. But Hey, my first job didn't really suck. It was just people kept handing me things last minute. Which kept me overtime but upside. I got 3000 back on my tax return. 3rd job sucked so much (cut so many hours that Messed up my rent)
Jax was weirdly nice this episode he really didn't shun anyone well aside throwing rag in the deep fryer and slightly annoyed at Gangle he was merely mad at the adventure like he even had a moment with pomni and asked her how she was doing and even at the very beginning he apologized immediately for breaking Gangles mask it might just be me but I think rag intentionally escalated it just to argue with Jax
Oooooh, that bit about being delegated and voluntold to do other stations' work after doing your own....that's why more recent jobs (especially retail and food service) have that final caveat of 'any task required of you' at the end of the job description, usually after a metric fuckton of OTHER things to do, because folks started complaining. One of my past jobs was cashier. Job descriptions said 'cashier'. I ended up being a cashier, a stocker, cleanup, inventory, AND opener and closer. They wanna keep the number of hires down while delegating the tasks of three people onto one just to save a few bucks.
i think Gummigoo remembers Pomni because when sge says his name, you can see his eyes widen a little and start to reach out to her. Maybe he pretends not to know in case Caine zaps him again
I think so too you can see it in his eyes he does remember her but if he says anything Caine would probably zap him again and he will get his memories erased so he has to pretend for his sake and for Pomni’s
30:49-30:56 I work part-time at retail and this was how my first year was. I was told not to be on my phone even though I was done with what I needed to do. I'm sure nowadays they trust me a lot more, but I'm not gonna play with fire; I could be done with everything and can only wait for more stuff to do, and I'll probably get told not to laze about.
41:26 dang😂 guess Zooble was right, Caine might not understand people, he's an AI after all, but he 'does' love em❤ like for real, Kinger, Jax especially, and Ragatha too unfortunately should've gotten worser scores but didn't just because, which in my opinion is okay because again it shows he does care about them❤
How did Zooble only get a B plus?! They're the only one who did their job properly and professionally the whole day, and even stuck around for an extra hour to help with cleanup!
Ugh, I hated food service (surprise, I know). I made myself an asset, learned to use my anxiety to be the calm one in a crisis, got better pay and a promotion for it... but was abused for it as well. I got a lower-end job now, pays better anyway; here's hoping it goes better. Maybe I'll still go for the raises, but I'm not accepting a leadership position in the near future. Learned my lesson.
I hear you about the problems regarding “the customer is always right” but I think the problem stems deeper than managers leaving out that final part of the phrase to their employees. It’s used more and more by customers themselves who think the phrase gives them entitlement over those who run the business so they can get whatever they want. The problem is customers think the phrase is a Right they have as a customer and not a store policy the company can choose to follow or Not. Any store can deny service or sales if you are “that guy” and/or call the authorities should things escalate.
Caine continues to scare me more with every episode. While he has no malicious intent and can't directly affect the minds of the troupe, we see there are a lot of scary things he can do. He can A: take direct control of people's bodies against their will as he did with the spirits in the haunted house. B: Program AI to taunt people over genuine trauma, probably without even realizing that's what he's doing. C: Create drugs with mind manipulating effects, such as stupid sauce. He really can do pretty much whatever he wants to them. So we can only pray he never snaps
I have no idea about fast food workers but my mother worked at Burger King back when she was 18 and said that it was literal hell! I feel like eating at a fast food is better than working there! And thats why I try to be as nice as I possibly can! Because then they'd actually value you and want you to come back! Also I'm pretty sure Gangle would've abstractin this episode if it wasn't for Pamni! 🎭💀
I worked at a McDonalds for a short period of time. Don’t ever want to come back. Most of the staff was fine, save for one who was a creep and a manager who was a Karen. The work was just not for me. To much oil and grease, and too many times getting burned.
I have my own theory about pomni in general about her personality which boils down to her past before she was in the circus could have been an awkward childhood due to potentially their childhood being a unique and conflicted one in general when it comes to morals oh and I also want to let the renigades know that the next episode is apparently going to be about ragatha mostly according to the creators have said in general recently.
I wonder if the renigades are aware of all of the theories about gangle, ragatha and Jax specifically that Ragatha and Jax are siblings and also the theory that ragatha could possibly be the next one to abstract in general.😅🤨🤔🧐
Do think it's possible that Jax actually likes the Digital Circus? And if so, it might be because it's an escape from a dead end career, likely at a fast food place?
12:23 Damn... Nate... You were forced to buy them? It's not a requirement at the place I work at now. I bought them because tennis shoes were horrible shoes for working as a dishwasher. Nobody was required to get not slip shoes. Hell... I got my own apron for work because I was sick of not having any and being forced to clean one in the actual dishwasher and dry it by sticking it in the oven. (Ps the ones given out were cloth. I have a reusable water resistant one that even has pockets) I am never going back to those oversized napkins.
Great reaction guys. Not sure if you do music reactions anymore, but you should check out Mcgwire's song for this episode: 'Put The Fries In The Bag!' It's hilarious.
t I did work somewhere requiring no slip shoes. I did notice a big difference between two sets of shoes And not slipping to high hell. though oddly I coulda swore both were non slip One pair did signifigantly better than the other. and when the first set died I definitely noticed when I had to emergency wear normal shoes. could be wrong tho. Cant say for sure its not all marketrting bs to sell shoes. I think it goes more into the difference between claiming slip resistance or slip free cause though I didnt find slip free like they asked I could find slip resistant fine.
Honestly wouldn't have thought I'd defend my work but I have to respectfully disagree with " none slip shoes don't work" they 100% do however there less for like water, large pools of grease there more for the cleaner we use for the floor because if you try to walk on that floor with normal shoes you thought you were slipping WITH them on you could barely stand without them lol and as for price yes the ones that you get through corporate is bullshit but now they just let you get them from anywhere and you don't have to get them through the company

The fear of punishment can be a pretty good motivator, especially if it's a punishment for being the worst of the bunch. It's like that joke about outrunning a bear. You don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than someone else.
reaction starts at 6:16
I've got a feeling that Gangles Mask is not just a play on "hiding emotions", but also an alegory for Medication.
I think Gangle may be more bi-polar as she mentioned manic episode. But your point makes sense.
And also because he doesn't want the boys to find out and get traumatized like he did.
18:19 JAX! WHY DID YOU INVITE THE JORDAN PERSEGATI ARG HORROR MASK!?
Y’all do requests on reactions? My friend has an indie series I’m trying to help him promote and it would be cool for yall to react to it
41:26 dang😂 guess Zooble was right, Caine might not understand people, he's an AI after all, but he 'does' love em❤ like for real, Kinger, Jax especially, and Ragatha too unfortunately should've gotten worser scores but didn't just because, which in my opinion is okay because again it shows he does care about them❤
Used to work in fast food myself, and the most childish people you will ever meet are adults.
💯
How did Zooble only get a B plus?! They're the only one who did their job properly and professionally the whole day, and even stuck around for an extra hour to help with cleanup!
No-slip shoes actually did something for me when working at an A&W/KFC joint… that’s just me speaking personally
26:53 She’s lost in the sauce, literally
26:10 I love a good Halloween III: Season of the Witch reference
Episode 2 of Space King also came out on the same day as this
Another great episode. Big props to all good employees who work at retail and have to deal with sh-
28:03
I Guess ragatha is just crazy or she’s is no girls toy (maybe lazy)
Someone can make breakcore out of orbsman’s footsteps
Im ngl, the first time i watched the episode i thought she was about to abstract.
I am slightly offput that despite it being called SPUDSY'S, there was no special potato dishes or even a potato mascot.
24:00 magic powers
23:46 ok…how is gangle doing this
28:03 I understood that reference.
I’ve watch multiple reactors just to have reason to watch it again but no one so far i seen notice that, hehe, nice i knew i wasn’t going crazy, lol
wow.
also new Nick Crowley UA-cams Darkest Videos 7 just dropped. wooo
Whats considered fast food cause i work in ono hawaiian an the food we serve is a bet more fine than mcdonalds
Love from a Airier and Vaush fan!
Hope you guys are planning to watch the Russian Badger with Nick because he posted of best of 2024 and I think Nick is going to like them now sent that Russian Badger was planning to play drg
