Just as a pro tip. You should take the tip out of the housing before running paint through the line. The only time paint should go through the tip is if it's spraying on the wall. With that much paint going through it could it will blow out the tip and make it no good a lot faster. I have been painting and spraying for 10+years. I like how you are teaching people not to be afraid of using a paint sprayer. Love the channel and keep it up.

I renovated our townhouse (myself) to get it ready to sell. I purchased the Graco X7 to spray the house because I had no plans to roll the entire house. I've never used the roller part and probably wouldn't. If a house is empty, I'd just spend the time masking and then spray. It takes time to mask a house but once you get started and into a rhythm it rolls and the 3M Masker made masking even easier. Prep work always takes the most time and is the most important part of the job in my opinion. It took seconds to spray some of the walls and the doors and lay down a nice coat of paint. If the house is empty, I am not even looking at a roller.

You should always back roll when using a sprayer, if you like hackery it's perfect but back roll is a must

First of all, bravo on putting this video together. The roller concept is good like you said under different situations. One question as compared to rolling, which I have only done like you explained about two coats of primer sanding lightly as well to assure a good base for the final coats of paint. With the spraying of primer, would you do the same as rolling. I see so many houses being built and doing the quick, 1 coat primer, and 1 coat paint sometimes 2 depending on the contractor as well as what the builder wants. Custom home builders take more pride in what they offer. I always said a good painter can make a job look well and a bad painter can make a good drywall job look worse. Doing a lot repairs, there is also a trick to blending in areas if they were a year too old and having the same paint. Getting the nap roller effect is also a key. Doing plaster work with repairs we could make the patch be like a gloss finish and if it's not prepped right you will see that area smoother than the rest of the walls that have years and years of paint on them.
Most of all thank you for sharing this product with the pros and cons. Keep on rolling, paint and videos. Hahaha. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hey David! Yes certain situation is perfect for the pressure roller. I’m a firm believer in two coats of primer and two coats of finish paint. I love that analogy about bad painters versus good painters. That’s a good point. I feel like building houses is all about making not so perfect building material look good. Thanks for your awesome comment!

Great video, very informative. My eyes opened wide when I saw you put your hand in front of what appeared to be a pressurized spray nozzle. That machine has 2700 psi working pressure and if you accidently hit your trigger at full pressure, you could give yourself a serious injection wound. Always relieve all pressure and ideally turn off the machine before you remove or tighten a guard. Back in the day Graco wanted to know anytime there was even the rumor of an injection wound in the field, no matter which brand machine was being used. Not sure if they take it that seriously any longer now that they sell off the shelf at big boxes.

I was looking at the X5 & X7. The X5 is in the $300 range. Was wonder what really is the difference if any. I get the more expensive ones are for constent use. But if you are just doing your own home and not doing it as a daily job. Should not the less expensive ones work just as well?

Nice viewing ,thanks, aluminium always get your hands black, it's about the worst material to keep clean.
In the same time, what size of tip do you use for the inside painting, I already got the Graco ProX 17 and did my outside house with very satisfied finish, but hard to say wich tip I would use for the interior, my sealing is wood and I'm going to paint it, to dark with time and sure, I'll do the wall in the same time, got to protect the kitchen etc.
Can you make me a tip suggestion.
    Thanks

Great video and well presented. If you happen to do another video on this spray machine could you please show how you go about cleaning and flushing the machine. Also, regarding spray tips, can the same size tip be used for both primer and finish coats or would you recommend different sizes. Lastly, if you ever run out of painting topics could you please make one on nothing but how to prep and mask a room properly and the proper tools and materials to use. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and in making quality videos.

Hey Bob! I appreciate this comment because it definitely gives me video ideas. I’m definitely going to be addressing all of the topics mentioned. Yes I use the same spray tip for primer and the final coat. I have not experimented with many tips because I don’t use it all the time but that’s what I’ve been doing. Hope that helps!

Probably a dumb question but I wonder if Graco can make these with quick connect fittings instead of threaded or if you can put a quick connect adapter on these fittings.

Great review! I have used the low end Wagner version of the power roller, my experiences were generally good, but I did see isues evenness of paint, you get a lot of paint in the nap when you refill the roller making it heavier in some spots. These power rollers also require custom rollers with holes on the inside, this is an added cost. Finally, cleaning, cleaning, more cleaning, takes a lot of water and time to get these power rollers really clean.

    Excellent - as always!
Prep to 'anything' is always 'seemingly painfully slow' -- but with practice and patience - it All~ways pays off!
..The de-boxing reminded me of a narrative like the Swiss Chef from Sesame Street -- I'm still giggling! -- awesome.
The Graco sprayer looks like a great machine! I don't do enough painting to justify the cost, but if a larger project came along, I'd certainly rethink that thought. The thing that gets me with sprayers is the masking and the loss of paint product at clean up, but in certain circumstances it would fare far better and if you are in a cold climate area in the winter -- it's much more 'complicated' for cleanup.
Alternatively, I have rented sprayers - but my last rental experience was painful. I insisted that they test it right there prior to departure to ensure it would actually perform -- After 45 minutes and setting up 3 of their 4 rentals we (finally) got to one to work.. Note: It certainly was not this model. This model appears to be a like a rock star the way it performs!

Hey Kuiper! After getting used to spraying after this video I am going to mask up and spray the whole house. I’m going to get the professional 3M masker it seems to be the way to go. Yes I agree unless you are doing a big project it’s not really worth the cost. I love the Sesame Street line lol. Yes with colder weather you have to do clean up on the inside using buckets of water. It is cold here so I will be having to do that at some point. Thanks a lot for watching!

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 2 роки тому +1

You can save the paint in the hose at cleanup. At least with the Graco you can. My brother has a sprayer but I opted not to use it because of what you describe above. I don't know how it was treated or what shape it was in. Instead, I purchased a new Graco X7 to alleviate any potential headaches.

I tried to use my lazer leveler but it didnt seems right it was facing too far out any advice? Should i do tge 345 or in my case it would be 6-9-12

Great info. My 45° angle adapter had a little plastic piece that fell out of it which looks like a round white washer with a nipple and hole in the middle. It fell out of the end that attaches to the pole end. Does that plastic piece stay in or come out? Because the directions don’t say?

I bought a Graco a couple years ago to spray a picket fence. Thats all Ive used it for , so far. Anyways , It seemed to use a lot of paint. And I had to get the proper size tip so half the paint just didnt spray into the air between the pickets. So what worked the best for me was to first. Place large piece of cardboard on the opposite side being painted, and basically just used the sprayer to get paint "on" the fence, but needed to work a brush to do the covering evenly. SO there was no continuous dipping a brush into a paint pail. If I didnt do it this way, I would of went through MUCH more paint thats really needed to just spray . Good paint isnt cheap!
With this said, how evenly did the sprayer and roller put paint on the walls, and did the paint cover the area that its supposed to cover , based on the label info?? Thanks
