- Had the chance to get out to Dixon Lake in Escondido California and get some fishing in. This was a great learning experience as I rarely get to fish clear water lakes with a lot of vegetation.

Dixon is a tough lake. Supers clear water, most fish are deep or deeper. With clear California lakes like Dixon go small, natural and slow, definitely a finesse bait lake. Drop shot 4" cinnamon with black, blue or neon green vein. Split shot 4" plastic, lizards, crawdad plastics.

@@RFishingtx I used to want to be a pilot as a teenager, I grew up during the 80's and I was truly interested in whaat looked like a cool job and a way to see the world but I won't lie, I was lured to the job by the "Notion" that I would be meeting lots of pretty flight attendants...😇

Use to go here alot. What usually worked for me was texas rig trick worm hopped on the bottom, or top water right after sunrise or right before sunset. A lot of them hang out by the boat dock too so i don't usually use a boat.

@@RFishingtx awesome. Try out the trout bite too. We just had a trout derby a few days ago and im pretty sure there will still be a lot of leftovers for the winter season.
As others have noted Dixon is a tough lake. Its small and gets lots of pressure. Every bass in there has been caught and released a dozen times. Ive caught some nice bluegills on crawlers but only one small bass out of five trips ...and I usually do pretty well at most of the san Diego lakes

I grew up fishing this lake, it’s got so much fishing pressure it’s hard to catch largemouth there. Trout, channel cats, and bluegill are plentiful. I only caught a few bass there, including my on of 5 lbs or so.
Bros living my dream, airline pilot and fisherman, nice man, I fish dixon, had good luck with 2lbs test with weighted jiggs, dark colors, bright colors, don't matter

I fish Dixon quite a bit. It’s a finesse lake with soft plastic worms. Slow presentation. Sight fishing there doesn’t work. It’s painful sometimes. It is a great place and the fish can be caught. It’s tough most times though.

All I've ever got there was 2 bass and a crappie. All in the morning and I was trolling. They open after sun up and close before sundown so....

Hah, far from a dead lake. It’s a challenging lake. I’ve seen multiple double digit bass under the docks, points and I’ve caught multiple 8-9 lb bass there on swimbaits. It’s a lake you need to put time in, and really figure out
