As a victim of multiple offenders, I am really happy that this movie showed the mother supporting her sons. There are women who even if they are not the predators themselves, they stand by and aid the predators. They have opportunities to help the victims escape, or stand up for the victims and refuse to. I've seen it myself, I know people who had that same situation, even the movie Precious was a great example of that with how the mother blamed the victim, supported the abuser even though she wasn't a predator herself. Those people are equally evil.

    • @BashaerB-h2c

That's true. I had a family member that supported her son when he blackmailed a distant relative to marry him. Thank God she had a supportive family that despite all the blackmailing and ruining of her reputation, they stood with her against him. He is now in jail and his mother tried to ruin the woman's marriage but covid made it difficult. I swear it's like a movie but these things do happen! And some mom's support their sons even through the most evil of acts! I don't think that's true love.. If they actually loved their sons they wouldn't allow them to do such evil.

This safety word thing only works if you do it the right way, in the movie it was done in the worst way possible. Instead of a safe word it should be a particular response. For example, for a question like 'How are you?' or 'Are you safe?' the safe response should be something like 'I don't know' or 'I am dreaming'. This way if there is someone else answering their answer would be something like 'I am fine' or 'We are safe.'
Oh and it goes without saying that you always delete your safe response conversations after replying.

Just thought I'd mention, if you ever accept a ride from someone or otherwise get in a situation where you're alone with a stranger ALWAYS take a picture of their drivers license and car with license plate before hand. Text it to a friend or family member telling them that this person is giving you a ride and that you don't consent to anything other than that. If the person is insulted when you ask for their dl take that as a red flag. Doing this acts as a deterrent for them and in the event they try something anyways it will act as evidence in a trial. Doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman or who it is giving you a lift. Likewise, if you ever offer someone a ride first offer them your DL and tell them to send pics and info to someone who cares about them. It's good practice and can make the person feel more comfortable with you knowing there's accountability. Especially if you're a man and you're giving a woman a ride. A lot of us guys don't realize how a woman who doesn't know us might see us. It's a dangerous situation to be in and even though you aren't going to hurt them just worrying about it can be quite traumatic.

My 18 year old grand daughter was going on a mission trip to Rome recently for two weeks. A couple of days before she was to leave, I pulled her off to the side and said we need to talk. I said when you get to the airport to fly to Rome, that is when the danger for you starts. Do not ever go anywhere or do anything alone. Not even to the bathroom. Always stay with the group. There will be people out there that will try to peel you off from the group if they see an opening and then you will be gone forever. And nobody will be able to help you. This isn't the movie Taken. You will just be gone. Promise me you will do that. She did. She's back home now safe and sound. A shame we have to have those kinds of conversations with our children and grand children. But it's necessary. I wish it wasn't.

You see this is where people do not get IT. If you continue to keep the POLICE as the bad guys, guess what, you get what you deserve in the end. Keep voting in soft people on crime and it will reach your door. I am sad to hear this as we need to put criminals like this in the movie in jail forever not seek revenge.

How wanting justice and revenge in a town when even the police is involved ffs even the church is involved and basically doing social service and actually saving two innocent girls from human trafficking is ”going insane”?
They have a motive (very valid one) and what they did was premeditated, and well-planned everything but crazy or insane if something desperate to do this by themselves because they know that with the police being involved they will be lucky to get at least the providers (not those who raped and tortured them) arrested and very very lucky for them to have a sentence they deserve.
So yeah, you go girls. A very good way to cope with trauma and may I say the only way one may overcome such trauma not needing years and years of psychotherapy while still living in fear (live in fear they won't, because they decided to not be the victim and took back with their own hands the power over their life this mf took away from them) I hope they don't get caught.
Anyway, I wish every single garbage of human being had this ending. And is kinda ironic how some offer money for their life when a victim of such crime will rather have the justice than money.
Sadly in real life some know that justice will never come so they accept the money.
