I agree, Freightliner makes a very good product, strong fuel economy and impressive dealer network. Myself, preference is VNL 780 or KW T680. It’s all just personal preference. Thanks for your genuine review !!
You're soooo correct about the under the bed access. Lifting the bed to get at it sucks. Put 2 swing doors there so you can slide a bin in and out of it. Or make it a big drawer.
Full disclosure: Freightliner sales rep here. The ladder is rated for 400 lbs. I’m 270 and have used it with no concerns. You can get other inverters with different location options (behind the seat for example) from the factory (data code: 337-). And you can get up to (5) 12 volt outlets in the bunk area (data code: 284-). This would be in addition to dash power outlets. Up to (3) outlets in the dash (data code: 785-). The fridge from the factory is 2.3 cubic feet, which is marine grade, light weight, and had very low amp draw 275 Watts/24hrs. You can get a prep for a fridge from the factory, with air flow a d straps. It can accommodate a fridge up to 3.3 cubic feet. (Data codes: 719-) They offer a premium sound system from the factory with a subwoofer (data code: 750-042) You can get memory foam from the factory (data code: 740-). You last video you mentioned you didn’t like the mounting of the CB. You can put it on top of the dash (data code: 748-) Get with Ronin and your local Freightliner sales rep and give him these data codes when you go to spec your next trucks. Remember options can change the price but you can go through all that with a spec review. From the specs, it looks like you’ve got a great FTL dealer there. Great job on the videos. I really enjoy them. Keep it up!
Great reply. You mentioned 12V outlets as an option. Trucking from 1970's is kinda, you know, gone. What about 5, 110ac outlets? Lots of drivers hook up massive tv's, video game consoles, computers, etc...
Very interesting video. The difference, obviously, between Euro trucks & American vehicles is astounding. A video on my particular truck would take all of 3 minutes!!! I think freightliner owe you at least 0.75 % of any future sales for this favourable review. 👍👍
On this Freightliner we usually stored our food in the jockey box in the winter. It kept really well. I think Freightliner should have installed a fridge on rails under the bed where you can just slide it out from under the bunk when you need to with a simple latch under the bed and access your long-term food storage. I know Dometic makes rack-mounted fridges for semi-trucks. It's just a matter of fabricating the space under the bunk.
Hi there. Thank you for your view. That's really nice truck and I have been working on Freightliner 2018 before but the cabin was lower than this and for me it pretty cool to get more convenient for work. Also you are right about the matras 😀 it's really true. Thanks for video . Have nice trip and enjoy the Cascadia. Take care.
Hey Brian. Just update ladder for upper do holds well as being 6.2 and around 190 lbs i had used it few times and it do holds. About electric plugs, they do come with free 110 plugs it might be case you need to ask it. I drive cascadia 2017 it has one in cabinet behind microwave which has 2 plugs and then one under bed where you showed 12volt plug.
Great review Brian! It looks like you're a pretty happy camper. I really enjoy your videos, thank you for all the work you guys put in making these vids. Ciao!
My Friend Good afternoon Your're right with the pros and cons , Some items you can fix like: matress , the space under the matress , install plugs etc Have a nice day. Best regards 21 August 2021
My Dad is about your size and he sleeps on the top bunk in his cascadia every night and has no problem with the ladder holding him. I'm about 6'2" and 250lbs and I've climbed up to get stuff off his bunk when he's on home time and never had a problem with the ladder.
Good video. All good.....and to me I am new to the sleeper itself and in a 2020 same or similar setup. I've been in all daycabs before this and to me it is fine because I can't compare to the other trucks like you say. My apu is all run off the diesel engine on side of the truck. It works fine but I can't compare it to the battery unit you have again. Thanks for the nice info all you guys there !!!!!
I am currently in a brand new 22, I have 11k miles in about 6 weeks. I have been in the maintenence shop with engine, Jake brake and def issues already. Been in a shop 3 times in 6 weeks
The new safety features are stupid, the difference in the back that pictured above is we have 3 standard household 12v plugs plus 4 cig plugs in the back. Then two in the front
I'm not a truck driver, but looking at these pros and cons, my #1 items I would prioritize is: first, premium audio. If I am spending a lot of time doing something, be it driving, in an office, work or at home, I make sure to have good audio. Music is what keeps me going. Second, power outlets. You are so correct! These days, we have a TV, microwave, usually a computer, gaming systems, and our smart phones. We need the power! The other item, mattress. Good rest is important! I can work with everything else.
thanks for the review. I currently drive a 2019 860 . that truck can't compete with mine. the fridge is superior and so is storage. I have the table set up and have great storage under it plus a 110 outlet. my stereo is an 8 speaker + sub amplified system it's fantastic. the mattress is a 42in wide mattress and I like that volvo solved the problem at the bottom space at the end by putting a netted storage there. my company wants to give me a new cascadia in a week but I think I'll be keeping this after seeing your review
You nailed it on the head about the seat and lack of USB and power ports. Its my first week in my trucking career. So keep the great video's coming. Really good stuff!
Thx very much for the honesty. They should at least offer a bigger fridge and to put drawers under the bed. 200k and your feet hang off end of bed🤨 Stay safe
Yeah the mattress does suck but the cab is very roomy. Be nice to have a pull out table top somewhere and a cup holder near the bunk temp control. Wow I'll have to look for that table top in the 2019...haha!
Oh daumnnnn running teams in a Freightshaker 🥴 no way 🤣 Volvo Pete or KW I ran teams for FedEx with Trashnationals and Freightshakers never again. Gl drive safe

Awesome video brother. I assume the things it's lacking is the way it was ordered. My t680 has 3 110 outlets in the sleeper a shit ton of 12 volt 8 speakers and a sub not sure if refrigerator is any better because I don't have it yet lol. But it's a pull out one but I'm sure probably still too small.

Surely this comment is way too late but for anyone wondering the Cascadia mattress is a standard TwinXL size, you don't need to buy a custom mattress. I bought an 8" TwinXL memory foam mattress off amazon for less than $200 and it fits perfect. Massive upgrade.
And yes, Peterbilt has the open storage area underneath the bed, they did it smart, plus peterbilt has also good speakers for excellent sound quality..
With the 2020,are they still having the DEF issues with the Detroit .... I drove in Cascadia from '14-'18 and all around me big $$ for def pumps etc, some shops blamed Freightliner and some blamed Detroit...
im 225 lbs and ive been up and down that ladder, it held me just fine, the cascadia i was in had the larger fridge unit. but i think they owner of the company optioned that in. it went to the very top of that shelf you have. it was a great sized fridge
hello, excellent video is a good tool for those of us who are in the process of buying our first truck. I would like you to please publish the name and information of the place where the mattresses are made at the driver's need. thank you
So about the curtains… these trucks come with the stoppers on the edge of the rails. People screw them up and break them off because they’re so flimsy. I’ve been in few Cascadias at my company with them still in tact. Most are gone like that
Regarding the ladder, I weight 240, and have used mine several times with no problems. As to the curtain issue. From the factory they come with plastic stoppers at the end of the rail. They do fall off, but you can get plastic nuts from any auto parts store, put them in the end of the rail, and tighten a screw in. No more problems. The lack of AC power outlets is how the truck was spec’d. Ours come with an outlet next to the DC outlets below the bunk, and one in the microwave cabinet. I would complain to the other guy about that.
The ladder will hold up, the curtains need those stoppers. Got an international company truck, similar features to the Freightliner. I dont shake anymore...lol
Freightliner is only a highway princess for easy loads, If you can drive and know the engine the Kenworth and Cummins is a good all around great combo for a truck. I need to burn fuel to make money and uptime matters more.
Your unit doesn't have the dinette? That option on freightliner, plus everything else like fuel economy, is the only reason I'd even consider a freightliner instead of a Volvo for my next truck
personally, i am looking at the new KW t680 with front swivel seat and actual turn around table. install a 5000 watt inverter with possible kw installed electric apu. Not sure what engine and tranny combo to put in the next gen t680.
Driven 3 T680's, owned 1. That swivel seat is worthless and that swivel table is horrible. Takes up an enormous amount of space, gets in the way alot moving around, and you better sleep perfectly still all night otherwise you will break a toe or two or your foot on the damn thing.
Hey Brain do you feel that the new trucks are bigger both interior and exterior than the old trucks???? eg. old (late 90s/early 2000s) new (2010 and up) also are which trucks can pull more weight????
How do you fit a 1.2 cu ft microwave in there? What brand? With the dimensions I’m measuring for the hole, only a .5 or .6 will fit & I have to order it online. But I haven’t yet. If you could let me know thst would save me
I have heard the ladder, when folded up, sometimes poses a "danger" of taller people sometimes hitting their heads on them. Any experience on that? It seemed to me, watching this video, it is plenty high when you are sitting on the bunk, but what about when you stand up? One thing I do know about the Cascadia, is that they do have good options for refrigerators, especially if you want a bigger after market refrigerator. Depends on how it is equipped.
The speakers in these trucks are crap . I replaced all of them with good quality ones. That makes a huge difference. I also replaced the head unit with a Pioneer stereo, because I really like my tunes

4:31 Always be sure to clean the cocaine... I mean "crumbs" off of the table before showing it on your video... Just saying.... 🤣 (Also, I'm not a troll.... that was just a joke... I actually love your videos...... Also, just saying... 😂)
For solo drivers the storage is good enough but not for teams. The refrigerator is too small for even solo drivers looking to bring and cook their own food. As you said, the freezer is way to small. There is a good 16-20" above the refrigerator that could be used for a bigger one but I suspect a bigger one would consume too much power. Be nice if they could figure a way to increase the size though as more and more companies are increasing their share of team drivers.
The sound and under the bunk the 2 draw backs. Otherwise good trucks, but the sound ruins it for me. They need to ask some real drivers what they want in a truck
So in other words. Buy a different truck. I'm going to Volvo 70inch extended Globetrotter with the workstation/Dinnette top bunk bed withe iDrive and the great aerodynamics. That's my future truck.

There are behind the fridge bottom left corner a wall 2, 3 prong outlet one for fridge one for tv
Your kw is better than Cascadia because it got Detroit 60 series
He can’t sit properly in it so it really doesn’t matter what engine the KW has.
I see nothing but facts in this vid lol
Sleeping like Boss Huuuu

The mattress is a twin xl
How about the ken worth w900l 2021 model?
It works pretty great I’m a big old fat kid about 300 pounds it holds my weight
The sound and under the bunk the 2 draw backs. Otherwise good trucks, but the sound ruins it for me. They need to ask some real drivers what they want in a truck
Worst sound in the industry. They really dropped the ball with the sound. 🖐⚾️
To me having a bad sound system just tells me they don't really care about who's driving the damn thing.
So confused no t.v. cause I don't own the truck but u bought this 2020 freightliner 🤔
So in other words. Buy a different truck.
I'm going to Volvo 70inch extended Globetrotter with the workstation/Dinnette top bunk bed withe iDrive and the great aerodynamics. That's my future truck.
