- Do you dread the stairs?
Do you find it difficult to climb stairs, especially going up one foot after the other?
Stairs can be tricky, especially with osteoarthritis in the hip, knee, ankle or back. Whether you are lacking mobility, confidence and/or strength- this movement may be helpful! ✅
I love love love this step stool because you can use it for a few different things. The link is in my profile for it 🙌🏼
It can be a great way to make the steps less daunting and reduce step height so you can start practicing going up the first step one after the other ✅
Try a few repetitions first and make sure it feels okay. Practice leading with each leg 🦵🏽
Use the railing for support as needed ⚠️
Once you begin to feel more confident and strong- you can try on the full step height.
Strength building unfortunately isn’t instant. So you will need to practice this movement for the next couple of weeks, up to 3-4 times per week to begin seeing results 👏🏼
This can also work for going down as well. Practice walking down using the step stool too.
In order to make other adventures possible like walking long distances, walking up/down hills, sitting cross legged, etc- you need guidelines hon how to build strength in the right places and how to regain confidence 🙌🏼
That’s why I created the Arthritis Adventure Blueprint - an online program that offers joint-friendly workouts, expert guidance, and support to help you stay active and adventurous despite arthritis.
With the Blueprint, you’ll have the tools you need to take control of your arthritis journey and live your best life 🎉

I learned so much these days from you then 2 months going physio 😊
Glad you like the channel! Make sure to check out the other videos on it!
I agree, 😊It’s amazing how much I have learned from these short videos…
Dr Kuhn: you filled me with hope and positivity after my diagnosis, and I am having great success with building my muscles and diminishing pain, and having adventures!
♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you
Welcome!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thank you. I am going to get a small step stool and practice.
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Your videos have been so helpful for me. I am only 43 (in 2 days), but I have broken my R ankle/leg twice in under 10 years and as a result, recently found out I have near bone on bone osteoarthritis in my talocrucial joint :/
My more recent break, last May, which was the worst one, was a tib-fib open fracture from slipping on a gravel path walking downhill (my stability was already compromised since my first break where I broke my fibula near the base and seriously dislocated my foot to the outside 😭). I have been doing physio since last June, but only making so much progress. Your videos are really helping me to make more, including your ones on inflammation and its role in exacerbating arthritis.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it is having a real world impact on my life, and gives me hope that I will be able to do more with my (still fairly young) kids over the coming year ❤
That's so glad to hear you find the channel helpful! Also, happy early birthday!
Thanks in tons❤🙏🏻❤️
You are so welcome!
I been there still working on it
Thx PT,
My house does not have stairs. How to practice at home. ? I don’t want to do this in public.
Possibly one smaller step stall and another bigger one to act as the stair? (:
I need one of those stool as I am having difficulties going up the stairs due to current hip pain which started a month ago. Thanks for sharing
Gracias muy bueno lo practico
Thats absolutely me climbing stairs. Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much doctor, your videos really helped me a lot ❤
Where can I get a step stool like in this video?
If only that were possible. ALS has robbed me of that. The nerves and muscles are deteriorating. Practicing can’t restore it. I’m glad I can still get up the stairs any way it can be done.
Like last 4 months...I just stopped being able to propel up stairs like normal. What's going on?
Love it ❤
Yep!
Works great unless you need a hip replacement.
I really needed this one! How about going down?
Here are a few about stairs. ua-cam.com/video/-fbVSgpEMlk/v-deo.html. ua-cam.com/video/HtuOUkvb1Ls/v-deo.html
why not just glue every step with a block?
That’s how I look after a day on the wave runner
I feel terrible pain while descending. Please share a remedy for that. Thanks in advance.
Why stairs are hard + 2 exercises to REDUCE knee pain down the stairs

I do exactly that.
GooooooooooooD 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yes! Thanks!
Nice idea....
Too bad for me it's a hassle for me to step on the step stool...but there's always tomorrow and a challenge.
You can do it!
Instead of one leg I use 4.
Hi! But why my legs got so stiff??
Iam getting stronger with my knee arthritis but I still have a fear when I go upstairs and downstairs I still hold on to the rail
Confidence and strength takes time.
How many inches is that step stool? And where can I order it?
4 inches without the risers and 6 inches with the risers. Here is the link, I have the mini size: amzn.to/3kdqmlq
Another idea is to go up the stairs sideways, facing the railing, one step at a time.
Where do I get that step stool?
You can look on the my amazon store under membership equipment. www.amazon.com/shop/adventurealive
