These RomHack Wednesdays are just contributing to my belief that Kosmic is the greatest SMB1 player of all time. The precise tricks and jumps he’s making are so incredibly impressive and I’m not sure how many top level speedrunners of this game share his skill and knowledge.
Basically why I watch. I don't even like watching other people play games; I'd rather be playing myself. But there's something so satisfying about watching him masterfully knock out level after level of all this homegrown madness.
This romhack is what you get when a Japanese Mario Maker creator learns to make romhacks. Enemy spam, precision, kaizo blocks everywhere, hidden, unexplained mechanics, misleading coin trails... yeah. This doesn't just make a bingo, it covers the entire bingo card.
@@PhantomOfficial07 Fr, I hate comments like those lol. “You can’t have a valid reason to dislike something unless you can make it better”. Typical they have a furry pfp as well

Maybe the parallel levels can only be finished by killing Bowser with fireballs? In two of them there was at least on mushroom, maybe there is another power up hidden so you can get fireballs... Or you can get to the levels already powered up. Of course this is bad level design, but I think it is possible.
The katakana on the title screen actually just straight up says "Paper Mario", not "Paper Sai". Although Paper Sai could still be the name of the hack idk but the title screen katakana says Paper Mario.
I think it'd be cool to see the dungeons in Super Mario Bros made into autoscrollers just because people hesitate a lot on the fire bars and it would make you learn how to get through those sections quickly...
I don't think the designer intended that midpoint in 4-1...aside from the jank spawn point, the spinies don't restart if you continue from there. EDIT: Also, I kind of wonder if one is intended to reach the end of the parallel stages as fire mario, but only 3-1 obviously lets you.

ROMHACK WEDNESDAY IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!! Your knowledge on the game and understanding of glitches makes this series so much more entertaining. "Oh yeah let me just skip a section by walljumping or clipping through a block, no problem"
in this context, i would translate はずれ, or ハズレ to "outskirts." love, someone who gets tilted when people use google translate and then answer with confidence
@@QuanticBlob yes, it can mean "miss" or "failure" with regards to quiz questions, lottery tickets. but that obviously doesnt apply to this context. it can also mean "outskirts," "verge," or "extremity," which is the more appropriate translation here. I have an idea for a community stream, (might not work though) Do a session where you play our Mario maker 2 levels? It’s pretty easy to send codes in the chat section, so it would be pretty cool in my opinion.
Not really a hack, but recently a channel gruz showed an interesting set of game genie codes that basically makes Mario a procedurally generated game once you pick up a mushroom (and also as a side effect, you die in one hit even as a big Mario). Perhaps it's worth trying that out?
i love these videos!! i have a very unfinished romhack that i made a few years ago if you’d like to play it edit: with the way secret worlds are, i feel like this romhack would be more fitting of the touhou music than mario’s keep! lol

Kosmic is fucking good at SMB. What a mad lad, he really was playing out of his mind right here.
I can't help but notice the music is just the doom soundtrack but different pitch 😂
It’s also in a major key now, very interesting
Jesus thank you dude I knew I recognized the soundtrack from somewhere
What part of doom is the song in 3-1? Sorry for the question I just have to know
That song is from Tetris 2 + Bombliss for the SNES, look it up. I know because I'm probably the only person that played that tetris the most.
here it is, because I'm that much of a fan: ua-cam.com/video/qnhivPfbYK0/v-deo.html

I love the 3d æsthetics of this hack, though the level design and the difficulty leaves much to be desired.
The katakana on the title screen actually just straight up says "Paper Mario", not "Paper Sai". Although Paper Sai could still be the name of the hack idk but the title screen katakana says Paper Mario.
Yeah this is an updated version of a hack called Paper Mario, so that makes sense.
@@Kosmicd12 Understood! Great videos by the way, keep it up and God bless!
Judging from Google, the kanji 再逢 on the title screen is read “saihō” (“reunion”) hence the title being abbreviated as “paper sai”.
doesnt "hazure" meam more like "miss" or "fail" (like if you miss a target while shooting or take the wrong path as kosmic did here)
Very strange experience indeed. But worth watching!
The title "ペーパーマリオ 再逢" actually means Papermario reunion.
14:30 "I tried so hard"
.. and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter... xD
I laughed so hard in this video! Thanks for making my day better Kosmic.
3:07 "Hazure" translate to "failure". I don't think you were supposed to do that-
yeah it's like "wrong answer" in the context of a quiz. there's a good page you can find on google by Maggie Sensei about how to use atari and hazure.
I think it'd be cool to see the dungeons in Super Mario Bros made into autoscrollers just because people hesitate a lot on the fire bars and it would make you learn how to get through those sections quickly...

in this context, i would translate はずれ, or ハズレ to "outskirts." love, someone who gets tilted when people use google translate and then answer with confidence
Dude. It means "wrong" or "lost" but as opposed "won". It's used a lot in quizzes for example or in anything requiring a decision.
@@QuanticBlob yes, it can mean "miss" or "failure" with regards to quiz questions, lottery tickets. but that obviously doesnt apply to this context. it can also mean "outskirts," "verge," or "extremity," which is the more appropriate translation here. It isn't obvious that it doesn't apply to the context since the player that ended up there tried for an alternate path and missed the goal
