The flag visual bug at 17:00... was that because the flag was first rendered on the same frame the bill was spawning on top of it? The very next bill in the video you can hear/see spawning a little earlier...
I assume I’m that guy you were referring to at 1:21. I didn’t expect you to play all of them either way, but whenever possible, check your email for the ones I wanted you to play.
His website was archived by the Internet Archive, but it just has the same 4 hacks as on his ROMHacking profile. Plus a couple of Game Maker projects. But not the hack teased in the end screen.
Hack creator: "I want this to be real-world challenging." Kosmic: "I'm going to to pretend I didn't hear that." *Spends 20 minutes trying to do a wall-clip into small fire glitch.*
Some of the kaizo blocks might have been intentionally ironic, but most everything else seems fun. Really cool seeing mario go in the second castle entrance. The thorough game play is greatly appreciated with bowser, bingo type challenges, etc. Big thanks for the vids and to all good romhack makers 👍
(14:56) There's one spot where there are four Hammer Bros. together in a hack I made long ago, but they're all at the bottom of the screen, and you can just take the upper route to avoid them. In addition, it's possible to maneuver a previous Koopa so that you can kick his shell into the Hammer Bros. and slaughter them all that way.
I love these videos :) dont think Ive commented before but have been watching for years and always feel happy watching them. Love your commentary and energy ❤
Kosmic, so you think it would be fun for you to design your own challenging SMB romhacks on stream? There are some pretty easy to use tools if you think it would be fun. I'd watch the heck out of that.
My guess is that he has his savestate bound to when he presses a combination of multiple buttons, which include the jump button? He plays on NES controller, so he doesn't really have many buttons to use.
in super mario bros. 1, "stomping" only requires you to be falling as you hit an enemy, unlike later Mario games where you have to hit them on the top specifically, that's why he jumped straight into the bullet bill
Kosmic, my man, you gotta learn to laugh at the invisible kaizo blocks. They're a staple in kaizo SMW hacks, part of the fun of kaizo hacks, and they function as comic relief, especially for watchers like us. Nothing makes gives me a good reliable lol as watching a kaizo hack player die from a hilariously placed kaizo block. It makes me sad that it frustrates you rather than amuse you. And one final thing: We're watching you because we like it. Taking a long time isn't wasting our time. We enjoy watching the process.
people can like different things. They're in direct opposition to the design philosophy in the hack description. This is not an smw kaizo hack. Those have much higher QoL and completely different goals and gameplay. You're watching the edited video, where none of the extra time impact is felt. You may feel that way about everything, but you can't speak for everyone else like that.
@@kosmicspeedruns yeah, and it does take some uncomfortable mental effort to get yourself to start taking enjoyment in things you don't naturally like (on the occasions it is even possible), so I can't blame you. And I also realize that kaizo blocks would almost always be more enjoyable for the watcher than the player. You're allowed to not enjoy getting pranked (which is really what these kind of kaizo blocks are). In the end, I'm just a fan giving my opinion though, please don't take me as trying to lecture you or control you. I'm just here to vicariously share in you having fun doing things I don't have the skill or energy to do.
@@LeoStaley yeah it really depends on what the context/framing of the hack are. In smw kaizo hacks there are tons of moments where you almost get somewhere and get an enemy dropped on you, or whatever. It's a purposefully troll environment. This is a little different. Just explaining!
@@kosmicspeedruns yeah I got you, I guess my experience as a kaizo watching fan is different, since I don't see kaizo hacks as primarily being trolly, just super difficult. My favorite kaizo streamer is grand poobear (check out his romhack playlist, there's a ton of great stuff there), and nearly all of the kaizo hacks I've watched him do are just a sequence of fairly straightforward super difficult tricks, and only have trolly moments like once or twice, maybe 3 times a level. Someone who enjoys getting pranked, like poo, finds those kaizo block moments fun, wouldn't find a contradiction with the description at all (and even he will get frustrated at too many of them). But Because you find all such pranks more frustrating than amusing, you DO find the description contradictory. And for you, you're 100% right. All I'm saying is, "it's just a prank bro," which... now that I get how much you dislike those kind of pranks, must sound pretty annoying. But now that I think about it, Super Mario Maker kaizo levels do definitely have a MUCH bigger bent toward over-saturation of frustrating troll moments, so I could see how our conceptions of what a kaizo hack is all about in general would be different. One final note: as a fan of yours, I'd actually be down for you uploading the full unedited streams as separate videos. Or, wait, are the full unedited streams available to watch over on twitch? If so, I think maybe you should consider mentioning that in your youtube videos at the end or something.

Kaizo blocks are funny pranks, but not the kind of prank that kosmic enjoys at all, which is why he gets mad.
Kaizo blocks are not "funny". They are just cheap, so cheap that a church mouse would not buy them because of how garbo it is.

I love Romhack Wednesdays. I’ve learned so many neat and weird interactions from watching you play these as well as the old Glitched World videos.

Hey Kosmic. Just wanted to let you know that this series is one of the few things that makes me happy. Thanks.

I definitely approve of save states for messing around. They can be convenient for actual gameplay too, but ig it does remove from the game a little
"Jumping Challenge" is a perfectly reasonable alternate name for a platformer of the Mario persuasion.
I saw enough Kosmic vids to guess what would have made him lose 20 min.
He went to all the trouble of saving Princess Toadstool, only for her to advertise a different ROM-Hack.

Yeah, the trolling did not mesh with the description. Also, I'm sorry but I have also never seen the flag pole missing a section.
I thought I was the only person who used save states to repeat random weird sounds. I'd like to record it some time and play guitar or bass over it.
Quick question, why do you jump when you savestate?
My guess is that he has his savestate bound to when he presses a combination of multiple buttons, which include the jump button? He plays on NES controller, so he doesn't really have many buttons to use.

Title is correct. I did not guess that was the reason.
Real ending to SMB1; Mario died in the lava with bowser and peach wasn't really peach. SMB cannot continue all other canon is a lie.

Why is he intentionally jumping into enemies in the beginning of the video?
