Goethe had strong feelings about, obviously, a child abuse. The story tells the agony of a child misunderstood par his parent. With his childish words, he tries in vain to make his father understand that a predator, seducer, evil, perverse has crossed his path. When, towards the end, the aggressor reveals himself by admitting that if he cannot seduce the child with his lies, he will use violence, the father still does not understand! The child dies. Based on an old Norse legend, The Erlkönig represents both the denial of the adult who refuses to believe the child and the terror of a little one caught in the claws of a predator. Unless the father and the King are the same person, which, statistically, is the case in 80% of sexual assaults... Anyway, what extraordinary power of the text and what brilliant dramaturgy of the music , voice as well as piano. This interpretation is absolutely remarkable.

The video work detracts greatly from the performance!
