- This is my first challenge run on one of my favorite games!
The biggest obstacle faced in a shotgun only run in any STALKER game is the sheer distance with which you fight.
I didn't intend for it to be so long, but let me know what you think! - Ігри

Guns in Stalker games are generally inaccurate in the first place, but beating this with shotguns is insane.

The dart rounds (a.k.a. sabot rounds) act like slugs, but instead of crushing armor/flesh, it pierces the armor; they are really meant for armor (i.e. exoskeletons). Think of dart rounds as "AP slugs" per se.

I've always played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. using only shotguns. They're so powerful and cheap plus the different types of ammo make them so polyvalent.

The Mad Max gun (TOZ-66 trimmed down into a "hogleg") is actually good. You just have to use finesse to be effective with it. It's wrongly described as a "beginner's weapons." Because of the finesse required to use it effectively, it's not really a rookie gun. Something else about the Mad Max gun is that ShoC's version of it is the most realistic interpretation of a double-hammer type of side-by-side shotgun in any game ever, even when compared to how it's depicted in the other unmodded S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. As for the Chaser 13, it's ackchyually based on a Maverick 88, not a Winchester 1300. Also, only a chump would put a stockless pistol grip on a shotgun that has rifle sights.
11:46 Ackchyually, you can take down a pseudogiant with four buckshot blasts to its twisted face, even with the Mad Max gun.
24:40 I've only had that happen in Oblivion Lost 2.2 and it was with the short-barrel Benelli M3 Super 90 (which normally holds five rounds and fits in your pistol slot which means you can use it while driving).

If you're like me and you keep playing the radiant quests as much as possible, you'll be given at least _100_ of these damn things every time you pass thru Cordon. _Oh boy I sure do love carrying ten kilos of shells all the way back to my favorite weapons cache._

The STALKER series is one of those cult classics you don't see very much and I wish more people did because the games, in all their atmospheric and buggy goodness, have loads of fun to be had by everyone!

Hey, if you do another run like this, here're good tips :
If you kill the military men under the bridge you can get a stash "by a country road" that has the most powerful shotgun in the game.
If you go back to the underground after travelling to the duty base or the dark valley, bandits will respawn and one of them will have a unique spas.
You can also find a unique "combat shotgun" in the wild territory stashes.

Uh apparently there is a fire resistance trick which allows you to repair your weapons
It only works on armor. The only way to repair weapons in SoC is to drop a weapon, let an NPC pick it up, and kill them.
this is like watching ambiguous amphibian's little brother; the wit is pointed and the delivery, though flat, lulls me into thinking what I'm hearing is normal until I think about it for a little bit, then die. the pacing really helps it work, giving me a chance to screech before the next bit.

being drunk makes you play better. i used to play r6 siege a lot and used to play competitive but i only had a competitive k/d of 1.1. once i got home from a night of drinking and sat down to play siege. on my first game i carried the team and had a 4.0 k/d. i felt no fear and i felt like i was in control of the situation.

@@pavelmorozov6599 The skill to drunkness ratio is a steady upwards curve until you suddenly get a little too drunk and you suck more than you have ever sucked before. So I kinda feel you on that regard.

Shotguns in STALKER turn into Sniper rifles with darts and slug shells. Especially with slugs. I might have been spoiled by Call of Cherno and Anomaly.

Итак : со старта игры продай курточку, потрать деньги и купи 2 аптечки и 2 бинта (640 рублей именно столько у тебя будет).
В Деревне Новичков есть три голубых металлических ящика (два - на крышах домов), они разбиваются прыжками твоего персонажа или сбрасыванием на пол. Эти ящики тебе дадут 2 антирада, 4 бинта и артефакт "Каменный цветок" стоимостью 2500 рублей. Это все добывается "без ножа и без пистолета", которые должен выдать Волк.
В печке дома, на крыше которого лежит комбинезон наемника, пачка картечи 10 штук.
Первый дробовик ВСЕГДА со старта игры лежит на поезде, с аптечкой, дешевым артефактом и 20 картечи. Добежать можно прямо от Деревни Новичков.
Радиоактивная свалка рядом с бункером торговца Сидоровича содержит 2 артефакта "Медуза" - один возле поваленного дерева, а второй - в металлическом ящике, который лежит на большом зеленом ящике, нужно аккуратно столкнуть голубой ящик с большого зеленого вниз, если же поторопиться и разбить маленький ящик над большим - артефакт провалится сквозь текстуру большого бокса, и будет недоступен.
Возвращаешься к торговцу, и, используя сейв-лоад, покупаешь на все деньги медикаментов (на свое усмотрение), и немного патронов.
Это старт - ты еще ни в кого даже не выстрелил, ни разу не подверг свою тушку серьезной опасности (ну почти ни разу), а уже оснащен броней наемника, дробовиком и медикаментами "под завязку".
Следующий пункт - добыть дробовик СПАС 14 и "комбинезон сталкера", для этого следует оснастить инвентарь 20 аптечками, столько же бинтов, минимум 4 антирада, и 200 картечи - как это сделать решить может каждый сам для себя, как ему удобно, итак, снаряжение собрано - за добычей с Кордона идем СРАЗУ, минуя ВСЕ ОСТАЛЬНЫЕ ЦЕЛИ и задачи, прямо в Темную Долину - в логово бандитов. Выносим там всех, всю базу, до последнего бандита (их там около 30), неторопливо обыскиваем трупы, восполняя потраченные запасы, и, через 4-5 минут РЕАЛЬНОГО времени
во внутреннем дворе респаунится уникальный НПС - "Кочерга", и именно он нам и нужен - у него как раз будет тот самый "нарезной СПАС", что ты потом нашел в Подземелье Агропрома. Удостоверившись через кнопку "Н"/Контакты в твоем ПДА, что "Кочерга" респаунился, убиваешь его, старайся при этом стрелять ему По НОГАМ, чтобы обязательно сначала ранить, в игре есть уникальная "особенность" - раненые НПС роняют на землю НОВОЕ оружие, у которого нет степени износа, словно только что из оружейной лавки, так можно "выбить" из врагов любое, интересующее вас в данный момент, оружие - ранить, убивая неторопливо.
Комбинезон сталкера лежит на улице, в металлической трубе, в закутке, перед входом в лабораторию Х 18 (найди интерактивную карту тайников Сталкер Тень Чернобыля).
Итог - час реального времени, тяжелая зачистка базы бандитов окупается получением требуемого снаряжения.

STALKER with only RPG
In the bar you can get a job from a stalker where you need to find the family rifle. That's a far better long range hunting shotgun. I think this rerun should include the usage of it

Shotgun only is viable, the hardest part is getting close enough without getting shot. Slugs have decent range and accuracy, but the iron sights make it hard to aim so they aren't very good. Darts are armour piercing, making them the strongest ammo type for shotguns.
This would have been much more easy in Clear Sky, the full length over under shotgun kicks ass early to mid game

Why didn’t you get the OVER/UNDER unique shotgun as soon as you got to bar? As far as i remember, it has superior accuracy. But, you got the pump shotgun, so i suppose you prioritised that.

I literally only use shotguns in STALKER because they're so powerful (until the endgame) and their ammo is rather abundant. I don't really see how this is actually supposed to be a challenge when it's practically a tested meta.

Your narration and choice of "skill and suffering" was so similar to my Half Life approach. I noted every level and how i died. Then I tried the same with Stalker Lost Alpha and miserably failed.

Master difficulty actually makes it easier. Yes, you get more damage, but you deal more damage as well.

The shotgun run in this game is indeed very harsh, aside from there only being 3 shotguns there is some weird inconsistency that goes on in the base game. Always found it sad they didnt add the saiga-12 to the basegame, but then again that thing would just destroy everything. 10 rounds of clip loaded shotgun shells is pretty damn effective. Good challenge run though!
Hunting shotguns of various kinds exist IRL. Pumps and semi auto are a lot more widespread and in usage. Also bolt action rifles. Arsenal overhaul tends to fix most armament issues.
Great video! The sawn-off shotgun in SoC is a really satisfying weapon to master, it can carry you to end game once you learn its mechanics. Getting a kill at range with one or two well aimed shots feels like a real achievement.

After playing mods for so many years I forgot how clunky the OG weapons looked, still I like the story in all games which is sad to see not exist in the same extent in COC and Anomaly
in the underground you can get a special shotgun, and in the stash a stalker suit, but whatever

to me not that special but hey it has a green arrow! he is near the entrance, you will most likely see him if you want to get strelok's stash.
He mentioned picking it up already and it was damaged.

Too bad that SoC doesn't get the really good shotguns that CoP has. Like, I've been able to outright snipe enemies with the TOZ-34 and really never needed any other shotgun because it has such a tight spread and high velocity
Doing this kind of challenge probably is much easier in CoP in general
CoP is easier overall
Medkits are pretty much infinite if you complete the doctor quest
You can repair equipment and weapons
Artifacts and artifact detectors are easier to get than in Clear Sky
You can mod the exoskeleton to be able to run
Bandits aren't a pain in the ass like in SoC
I need to see you fuck around in anomaly, maybe go through war with only one squad that mustnt die, or story mode with strelok lore specific items.. awesome commentary btw, keep up the good work!
Nice video, I always thought the SoC shotguns were the worst out of the series (I remember flechetes being pathetic and slugs not even having any AP properties listed in the code) but this made me reconsider. Not sure why there's so many dislikes though.
