Ah yes, what I call "the boob lane" in some garments. Reminds me of the lanes they'd set up in the pool at swim lessons when I was a kid: nobody ever stayed in their designated lane, and eventually the lanes floated off and morphed into their own shapes anyway. No boob lane can contain us. 😂

This dress is straight out of the 80’s, and I know because I was there…then…you know. Powerful, and the construction of the waist is outstanding!

The yellow one was great, but the boobline is a deal breaker for me, too. I've tried to ignore it in the party, and it never ever worked and resulted in subconscious dress tugging all night.

I had a more formal wedding in December and I shopped for months trying to thrift a dress....3 days before the wedding I found a floor-length 70's dark floral that fit me like it had been MADE for me.....I felt like a million $ and got so many compliments 😁

as a plus size person, thrifting anything specific is SO tricky (even just like - a dress nice enough for a wedding). i ended up buying a new dress for my cousin’s wedding this weekend, because the dresses i rented wont arrive in time. but!! im going to try to plan further ahead for the three other weddings (and other events) i have this year and try to do rented or secondhand pieces. ❤
If you find a dress that fits in the front perfectly, (like the floral dress) could you not take the zipper off and add loops and a ribbon bow to the back? It honestly looked cute with the open back like that.

I think I would have picked up some of those other dresses you tried on, too, that were a little tight, because they could always be upcycled with added fabric or a lace up back or something. Some great finds!
That rainbow jumpsuit is like CRAZY RARE and expensive! I’ve seen one online and it was like $300-$400 😮

Don't know how true it is but I was told by a vintage store owner once that you don't find as many larger sizes because back in the day people would rework dresses into new garments. Obviously it was easier to use the larger clothes and make smaller clothes out of them

Follow Columbus native here! I LOVE that antique store! Though I always think I'm gonna trip and die on those basement steps. We got some awesome Christmas gifts there last year. As someone who thrifted clothes for a wedding mere HOURS before we had to be there I feel the vibe of the video deeply. (And that wedding outfit has become my favorite dress honestly haha)
Also that rainbow sherbet jumpsuit!!! So flowy and ethereal! And the yellow dress looked so good on you! You should throw some more sunshine yellow into your wardrobe girl, that color was chefs kiss.

What a great dress!!! I love thrifting and in fact, I'm going today. However, I wash everything immediately after bringing it home. You never know who wore it or what could be on it. If it's dry clean only and I don't think I can hand wash it I take it to the cleaners.

That said, I think the yellow dress would have benefitted from a different type of bra. One with a bit more for and separation and I believe the bust would have fit quite nicely.

I've just been invited to a wedding that has a COLOR CODE for the guests!! As a plus size thrifter who has one "event outfit" that I wear to everything, this is an absolute nightmare. I get wanting things to look a certain way, but damn. Also, it's a last minute wedding with only a month to find/make something 🙃
Also also, for the dresses that don't zip (if you're okay with altering vintage) just remove the zip and sew in ribbons to tie/adjust 😊
Have you considered Poshmark or Threadup? Lots more to pick from and maybe you'll find a second event outfit! (Opinion: I think brides are confused. The color scheme is for the wedding party. Guests should not be forced to buy new clothing just to be a guest. Or maybe it'll be super fun 😊)
@@aksez2u Yah, I try to live sustainably, so it's the expectation of buying a new outfit that seems very out of touch to me 🤔 I don't *need* 2 event outfits. Plus, as plus size, having to find something that I feel completely comfortable in mentally and physically is huge and I just love already having something in my closet that I know I feel my best in every time. Especially because the colors are not colors that I would ever choose to wear, so I don't want to invest a lot in a quality piece, but don't want to buy fast fashion either. It's so hard when you live on the sustainable side of the internet to be reality checked by "normal" consumerism/expectations.
@@nervouscrepe Maybe you could buy "used" on Threadup or Poshmark and then resell? I don't know. Like I said, expecting a guest to wear a specific color is off a bit, but I'm sure the bride is just trying to make it fun or fit a theme or something. Good luck!

It seems a bit inconsiderate of the people getting married to expect guests to find a new outfit in a specific color scheme in a short time frame. I wonder if a clothing rental service would be a good option? I wish you could just wear the event outfit you already know you feel great in!

I love that dress! I'd call it an 80s does 40s. I've got the 3 wedding guest dresses i kept in my closet purge of 2023, 2 very differently styled blue ones, and a purple one if the invite says I can't wear blue.
OKAY this is going to be so SILLY but thank you for sharing items even if they don't fit. It is so triggering for me to try on clothes and it doesn't zip. I feel like a linebacker and have stopped enjoying shopping because of it. But seeing you go through it is like oh it's a normal thing. She's not a linebacker! It's a normal thing, maybe Im not a linebacker either. You know? Sometimes you just need to see someone else have the same experience to normalize it!
