Owned the Cyrus CD8SE Mk2...Excellent sounding player, but the reliability was shocking...Sent off to the technicians on 3 occasions in the 2yrs that i owned it...from new !
Did you have to use new plastic plugs to reattach the circuit board? Mine seems to be for one time use only. How did you remove the ribbon cable? In my cd8x, which is slightly different, I could not get that cable off without fearing to break it.
No I was able to reatached/reuse the plastic plugs for the board, however you have to be careful. There are two ribbon cables in mine, and they have to be disconnected both. I guess you also can remove the ribbon cables without soldering Mine I had to pull it out in a straight line away from the drive
Who's buying the players like this CYRUS?!? - Ugly design, the remote control looks very cheap, CD-loader as in the car's CD-player, display looks like the same one in a children's TOYS and, finally, after pressing the push-button you hear a disgusting sound of "click" - as if a fat flea was cruched.
Well, there is one thing this do, that many good-looking CD do not do. And you must hear it to believe it, I used the digital output and compared it to AudioLab 8300CD (using the build in DAC of the 8300CD) and the difference was mind-blowing.

Is there a missing segment ~07:12 just when you were removing that unit out?
Well there was no recording as I had to put down the camera
