I 100% agree, most of gon’s actions are completely understandable. It doesn’t mean that his actions are morally right but I can see most characters acting the same way if put in the same situation. I think GLR is stuck on the idea that gon is a sociopath which is a cool idea but it is by no means a fact.

Try and actually break down what happened with pitou. Let’s not forget that it was his job to kill pitou, it was a kill or be killed situation. When killua murders hundreds of chimera ants do you feel the same way? No, it’s only because pitou was developed as a charcuterie in a way that made you empathise with her/him. There are thousands of stories where a character seeks to murder another character for revenge the only difference is that gon was blinded by his rage and no one was able to stop him. To gon pitou is just murdering monster that needed to be killed, his rage blinded him to see anything else. Also, gon is still a child, if you hand any 10 year old a gun and put them in a room with the person who murdered they’re parents. Would you be surprised if they pulled the trigger. Especially if the person was also trying to kill them.
Why are we always acting like Revenge is a sociopathic tendency? Pitou promised to restore Kite, she lied about that. Would you honestly walk away from someone who killed a loved one and then try to kill you if you had the means to kill them too? Gon ONLY sacrificed his ability to use Nen, not his life.
Im pretty sure that Killua and Gons story is not over. Gon just found his dad and wend home? Nope, his character is not done, we didnt see many things or character development. Same goes with Killua.
Killua clearly hasn't really finished his character arc. Like you briefly stated, his family dynamic is not explored nearly as much as it probably is intended to be in the series, and we have a few loose ends that make it likely that he will return. Togashi himself has stated in at least 1 interview that he plans on having 4 or 5 more arcs (if I'm not mistaken that was during the chimera ant arc), so if he is able to truly continue the series to completion, I'd expect that we will finally get answers to questions like how Killua knew about nen abilities of family members such as dragon dive and needle men, and if it ties into a skilled enough manipulator semi force awakening a person. Its as if his family found a way to suppress his knowledge of anything supernatural, and just the foil of Ging to Silva in bad fathers leads me to think that if we have a Gon and Gyro arc, we will by extension have a Killua and his family arc to further make the comparison between a son and a bad father and how it affects their path
Well Silva at times appears to be a decent figure of one, but still isn't a good one. He seems to take a different approach to how he wants Killua to come back and take over the family business. He even stated himself that Killua will return. Now if that was meant to be in regards to Alluka or some other schemes he has in the future, remains to be seen, but he didn't seem worried when he found out Killua removed the needle, and I have a strong feeling that if Togashi is able to continue for long enough, we will get to see the extent of his plans
@@allthenewsordeath5772 It's pretty heavily implied that the first time he had a one to one conversation with his son was actually before he left the Zoldyck Estate with Gon and company. I personally think Silva is counting on being able to manipulate his son in some kind of way, whether more literally by using Illumi or in some other sense, all to bring his son back and eventually have him take over the family business. I also think it is strange that Killua has so many siblings, especially when his father and grandfather didn't seem to have any. I'm wondering if the other Zoldyck siblings are meant to die so there is only one heir to the family at a time.
@@zlatanibrahimovic1915 I think Silva wasn't worried because what Killua told about his experiences with Gon in the Hunter Exam. He seemed pretty excited by this reckless and impulsive kid that always put himself on dangerous situations. Killua never stopped being involved in conflict and life or death situations. Pearhaps Silva thinks that due to Killua's interests and personality it is inevitable that he will chose to come back. Maybe Silva saw a lot of himself in Killua during their conversation.
@Read If you claim he barely has any character development then why is he a completely different character by the end of the story. His arc is phenomenonal and is hailed by many MANY people as the gold standard in how to write a tragic character. Either you know nothing about writing theory or you hate popular thing because it's popular.
@Read look my guy. I can garuntee you that Killua is by the book a well written character. He's not THE best, but he's one of them. The only case of character development better than him in all of manga is Meruem, but since Killuas development is much more gradual its easy to miss. I really think you should look into how character development works before claiming that Killua is poorly written because I've seen him used him as an example of how to write gradual development correctly many times. He is a phenomenonally written character. By definition, in practice and according to critical readings. Its OK to not like the character, but don't blatantly lie and say he's poorly written. Because he just isn't.

I don’t think hunter x hunter is anywhere close to finishing. I think worst case scenario togashi will entrust the rest of hunter x hunter to someone else. The arc with the biggest potential is just within our grasp and I doubt someone who tried their hardest to continue this story even through debilitation will let it be left unfinished. In my opinion, the rest of hunter x hunter is left to the dedication of who will take togashis place as manga writer. But that’s just a theory
Hikari Tamashi but his wife will never be able to keep the quality of the story the same. All the little togashi quality will be lost because you can’t replicate the mind set of a writer
I really like how Hunter x Hunter presents close friendships. Things change during such a relationship. Killua spent over a year with Gon with so much proximity and understanding, doing so much for him and growing with him in return. Killua became a more human individual because of Gon's light. The Chimera Ant arc, which showed Gon's darkness and somewhat toxic tendencies re: his friendship with Killua, really changed their friendship to such a drastic degree that, after healing Gon, I think deep down, Killua knew that his friendship with Gon might be taken into a different, less dependent level. Killua depended on Gon for emotional support and Gon benefited so much. When Gon gave in to revenge, Killua wanted to save him but he was too late. That broke him on an emotional level. He did everything to save him, even bring his sister. However, I think it was during his rescue of Alluka and even more so after healing Gon that Killua finally found a much deeper reason to keep moving forward. It was a life without Gon, a life where he could make his sister feel more human, like how Gon taught him. Killua's journey with Gon remains one of the most solid friendships in much of media but the fact that it "ended" in the last episode of the anime is a really good thing for both Gon and Killua. For Gon, he could find another path outside of his desire to be a Hunter, given that he has finally met his dad. For Killua, he can now find himself, without attaching his meaning or his purpose to Gon anymore. Gon was always his light but learned to become his own light after spending so much time in the sun.
@NewWorldReview Killua could return in MANY ways, Alluka is connected to the dark continent as she is the host of calamity Ai due to having Nanika inside her. Killua could somehow end up going on a quest to discover her origins, he is currently traveling the world so it does fit the narrative and lets not forget about the Black Whale #2 as a means of travel. Another possibility is that Killua could find out that Hisoka has killed Gotoh, Killua was very close to him and their relationship was a strong one. I could see our boy wanting to hunt down Hisoka and have his revenge by killing him. This pain of loss could also be a catalyst of having Killua return to the darkness like what you mentioned in the video, his father Silva foreshadowed that Killua will return one day because he is his son. Another way Killua could enter the story is if Kurapika makes another call to him and asks for some advice. Killua could realize that Kurapika is in a tight situation and he uses Nanika's powers to make a grand entrance upon the Black Whale #1 to assist Kurapika. Killua has the smarts and skills to be in the succession war so it's very much fitting for his character, also Illumi and Kalluto who are connected to him are also on the boat so these 3 can have their own plot points to resolve, especially illumi who is his tormentor. Of course you covered the entire Gyro stuff in your video so I won't touch on that but I will say that the unreliable data book said Killua's mother Kikyo Zoldyck originates from Meteor City along with Canary and Gotoh. He has family roots and associates that stem from Meteor city so this could tie in with the Gyro or Gotoh plot line etc.

I totally missed the opportunity of Narnika teleporting with killua wish, wherever they want. Maybe on the request of Kurapika. I think it was on purpose of Togashi, that the introduction the Calamity named AI in this way, we know what Narnika is capable of, so if killua want to, we can have him on the whale 🙏🐳
I just finished the 2011 anime last night and I must say... I'd have absolutely NO interest in continuing the series unless Gon and Killua return (even if it's just for a cameo).
Well Ithink the Zoldyck family will be further explored and Gyro is definitely not going to just disappear so I'm sure they will be back in the limelight or maybe be main side characters because currently we are getting Kurapikas story finished and I'm sure Leorio will be after that then there might be 1 final arc with all of them.
THEORY: Gon will unlock nen again with the help of his father. Then near the end of the king selection arc, gon and killua will come back and help kurapika.
@Poet Anderson the main selection arc will be on the new continent prob and they'll prob have to team up to beat the time traveling son. Or its to beat neteros son
I feel like Gon and Killua both having ties to the Dark Continent means they'll come back to the story to join up with Leorio and Kurapika, or maybe even Ging. I know these ties they have don't directly give a reason for them to go to the Dark Continent but I think just the fact that Togashi has linked them both in some way to the Dark Continent is enough reason for me, personally, to believe that they'll be back. But of course, Togashi's age and health could effect this and maybe HxH, like YYH, will end up concluding a bit prematurely to the author's original plan.
Vidar I agree with this cause Gon will obviously wonder where his father has been and if he tells gon he was at the dark continent gon will want to go. Killua needs to go to see if alluka is really from the dark continent. Kurapika might have to go to find a scarlet eye or something, and leorio would probably tag along to become magically rich/be the medic
how bout this killua: loses alluka to the dark continent because somehow nanika ports her to return to its family. gon: looks for jin again because info on his ancestor/great grandfather don freecs and his real mother is found assisting said grandfather. kurapika: returns greatly injured and must come back to the dark continent for more spider/ tserednick shinenagans. leorio: loses his great teacher cheadle who he bonded with during current events in the manga.
I think sometimes you forget that Gon and Killua are only 12 years old and they can’t understand the dynamic of a true friendship. You can tell Gon truly has love and values Killua
gon and killua will inevitably return as I believe the series will more likely focus on the relationships between the four main characters apposed to any singular objective.
Finally, I heard someone say out loud that gon is an inexplicably selfish protagonist who doesn't how lucky he is to have killua as his friend. I rest my case here.

Both Gon and Killua didn't have other friends until they met each other and Gon did care about the friendship. Killua was just far more reliant on it because Gon was pretty much all he had. Check out the end of episode 61 of the 2011 anime. The conversation between them. You're not going to understand how much you matter to anyone in your life either. Friend, family, or even people you meet at random. You don't need a reason to be selfish either. Everyone is--but we still have a reason anyway. Ging is his father. Selfishness is in Gon's blood.
If I wrote HxH and I know I didn't. Kill and Gon's story really hasn't ended. Gon didn't just want to find Ging but also wanted to experience being a hunter. And in my opinion I don't think he has. Killua's goal was mainly to be free and travel the world with Gon but his family has other plans for him. He doesn't want the family to lock Alluka and Nanika away anymore and miss use her powers. There might be a way to not only try to save Nanika from bring used but we also know that there are two ways to make Gon get his nen back. I remember when Silva said that Killua maybe looking for his own path but will be back definitely. So if I was writting it, the voyage to the dark continent causes the same creature that is Nanika harm. This then affects Nanika and also Alluka, forcing Killua to bring Alluka back to Zeno. They must now go to the dark continent to save Alluka/Nanika but only if Killua promises to become the head of the family. Or maybe a certain gyro meets killua on his travels and knowing the powers Nanika posses, steals or attains them causing Alluka harm that can only be solved in the dark continent. I know this isn't as good as Togashi's so hopefully he continues and brings the friends back to either save Kurapika or Alluka.
I strongly disagree with you that "Gon has no idea how lucky he is". Gon outright stated in the Greed Island arc that he is incredibly happy to be so lucky to have a friend like Killua (to which Killua responded in his inner monologue that no gon, it's actually the other way around). The mini-arc after the Hunter Exam when Gon and friends went to get Killua back from the Zoldicks was the most emotionally moving part of the series for me. And it shows how much Gon cares for Killua. For example, the scene where Gon is being beaten over and over by that maid, and then says "Why, why do I have to do THIS just in order to see my friend?" he says that and then punches and destroys a wall of bricks. Why do you say their relationship was "tragically" resolved? In fact, why should we assume their relationship is "resolved" at all? Killua currently wants to spend time alone with Alluka, but why should we assume that the two will never spend time together again? All of this is very important to me because Gon and Killua's relationship is the most important aspect of the series. I would be very sad if Killua actually rejected Gon's friendship forever because he realized Gon is so very selfish or whatever (this is what you seem to imply - I disagree with that interpretation).
I just had a thought. Gyro was very simular to Gon as a kid. What I mean by that is that he had unwavering faith in his father. However Gyro's faith broke after he couldn't deny it anymore. Also Gyro has a incredible amount of will power considering he resisted his ant instincts. Seems like he's a possible parallel to Gon. Gon gets into a lot of trouble even with Killuia's influence and is incredibly naive. So what I'm getting at is what if Gon ends up getting manipulated by Gyro in some way. We've seen how insane Gon can be when he has foil (Killuia) to dampen his personality. What if someone tries to feed into his negative traits and accelerates them. This might not happen if Gon learned his lesson and really thinks but knowing Gon's history that's probably not going to happen. Unless losing the company of Killuia wakes him up a bit and he does some more self reflecting.
Since most of the strongest humans have left for the dark continant when Giro will unlesh his plan against the human race only few hunters will be able to oppose him which include Gon and Kilua.
When Killua's facing Illumi in the last phase of the exam, Killua says he's sick of killing people and just wants to be friends with Gon and just have fun.

Lol that's a possibility I was thinking of it for a while, why? Cuz knowing gon he will not stay still, I think that the best way to bring back gon to the story is by making him revisit heavens arena, which their he will find a stronger goal (also means a stronger desire to achieve it) by that he will learn nen again and become stronger because of his stronger desire.

8:23 there's actually a lot of talk about Gyro in the anime, all of his backstory and a lot of ants mention him. welfin, brovoda, the yellow exorcyst girl and Byzeff set for a trip to find him at the end of the arc. also what we see in the anime in the episode where they fight the snake-centaur heavily suggests that gyro, who was sitting on his chair in the NGL secret laboratory-cave, got killed by the ants together with all his men, and probably transformed into an ant.
We have to remember Alluka said that after some time with her brother he's "free" -so he doesn't have to watch her anymore-, so I guess the chances that they meet again as main protagonists are very big in my opinion
love this video but i have to disagree with you on gon. gon is less selfish and more just determined; he definitely knows how lucky he is to have killua and appreciated killua just as much as killua does him. He has multiple scenes where he specifically says that he depends on killua in some regards/it has to be killua/ he wants to spend all his time with killua. Its less that he abandons killua and cares less about him, its that he is very much inept when it comes to dealing with things like death(doesnt help that all the adults were assholey-ish to the kids when it came to their friendship n kite, see: bisky telling killua he will end up leaving gon, morel making killua feel worse about getting gon away from pitou when they,,, yknow.) Due to this, gon spirals and doesnt know how to deal with it. like killua, he never had friends before so he isnt exactly the best at these situations(also hes literally 12). He only had mito and his grandma so he never had to experience the death of a loved one like he did with kite during the caa. when you experience a trauma like that, especially when you have no support system, it can come out in many different ways, not just being depressed. Gon ends up dealing with this trauma through anger, he lashes out and distances himself from killua because he doesnt want him ending up hurt in the crossfire. In the end, the most important thing to gon was that killua was safe and didnt have to deal with the burden he put on his own shoulders. Gon was still a kid and he acted like one. of course he isnt going to deal with it healthily, of course he isnt gonna know what to do to deal with his trauma. gon isnt some kind of selfish, abusive friend, he was a kid that dealt with so much in so little time and didnt know how to deal with it that just wanted to protect his friend from his inevitable path of self destruction. imo i think killua and gon will end up reuniting but they have to better communicate in order to reach the height of their friendship/partnership/relationship/whatever you think their relations will end up being. also theres so much more that we havent learned about nanika/alluka so killua is probably going to return in a later arc, i dont think togashi would just leave that alone. anyway rant over i just wanted to say my take bc i kept seeing the same takes about gon n killua
I almost feel like the "sinister Silva" moment at the end of the Zoldyck arc is just a weird out-of-character moment from before his character was more clearly definied.
Everytime I think about how HxH will end, I always think back to the ending of Phantom Rouge where the main 4 talked about what they hoped to achieve and so far Gon and Killua are the only ones to do so.
Imagine if the meeting happens out of pannel Like killua gets a call from mito that gon was murdered by a wierd ant monster ( gyro ) and that's how the last arc of the story happens, where the og crew -gon comes together for a revenge plot
I hope the last 2 Arcs in HxH are the Dark Continent Arc and than as a follow up, a last one, the Gyro Arc where Gon and Killua take the stage a last time
Doubt we'll see it, but since Gon is nen-less, it would be on point (albeit dark) for the dark contient arc to conclude, but during that time, Gyro found Gon and killed him. Thus leading Killua/Hisoka/Ging to rally for revenge. Killua goes home and in despair becomes he head of the family to rally them. Ging pulls his resources. Hisoka is... Hisoka. It just seems too "on brand" for Gon to meet a demise off screen, since he's "done" as a character, but the loss would start a new rage arc
They need to have a distress and killua and gon planned to meet up and then where they meet up there's a tv that shows the distress call which sets everything into motion
I think that Killua will most likely return mostly due to the fact that Killua has a lot more to do when it comes to his family. They aren’t going to be satisfied with him just leaving forever. They most likely won’t ever let him get away permanently.
It’s double edged. If Gon returns, Killua returns. If killua returns, Gon returns. I will prefer reunions through a fair timeskip (2-3 years) whether it’s coincidental or on by agreement. By that time, Gon and Killua should have new purposes and new developed characterization. -Gon should’ve already found a new goal in life since the possibilities opened up after Gon met his dad and asked why he became a Hunter. -Gon has been training mentally in order to move forward and forget the past. -Gon should’ve already got strong in nen again. After blaming his weakness for Kite’s “departure”, he is now like one of those MC’s that gets stronger to protect. -Killua has reflected on his friendship with Gon during his travels with his brother/sister. -Killua has now gained a vague picture on what he wants to do in life after retiring from being an assasin. -Killua has been learning on training his mental resolve and desicions by leaving Gon to the side for a while since he might been thinking too much of the past and his relation with Gon. -Killua has developed and trained his nen in order to protect his brother/sister. Of course for now, Gon and Killua’s MC rights are taken away and that’s going to be for a long while. It’s only fair for others. Kurapika, Hisoka and new characters are getting their own arcs, development and spotlight for a while now. Best thing to do is wait patiently and enjoy what the manga offers now.
i think their relationship IS inherently a loose end. I believe that closure for them, (an apology from Gon?) or a reunion is inevitable, personally.. though I agree they will probably never be main protagonists again!
the main issue is alluka she can just save killlua in any situation kinda removing the tension and stakes. Killua would be able to solve any scenario and situation so in order for him to come back alluka would have to leave him for some reason, get old enough to look after herself and learn to use her power, die/be killed or somehow lose her power. In order for killua to come back alluka would have to be dealt with, in a sense the writer has kinda written himself in a corner with alluka making it very difficult for him to return. I really hope all the 4 friends come back for the final arc but I'm really not holding my breathe because it would be very difficult to do.
What if when the new series return, Illumi controls Killua and Alluka, and uses it against Gon since Hisoka dies(which Hisoka wanted to kill Gon). And Gon and Killua fight against each other.

Alluka can teleport killua anywhere in theory. not to mention alluka is technically from the dark continent she will be connected to that ark eventually because she already is connected to the dark continent.
i think you’re really misunderstanding gon’s part in killua’s life. while gon has self destructive tendencies, i think you’ve forgotten a lot about how gon helps killua throughout his life. you’ve mentioned how gon is selfish for throwing himself in danger, but doesn’t killua do that for him too? they both care for each other so much, to an equal amount i would even say.

I would say that since Alluka is mostly just a container for Ai she might have a larger part to fill in the DC arc (huh. dark, DC wow) as it might be in Beyond's mind to conquer the DC using something that it gave them as a punishment once to fulfill his own desires.

Or better yet he has already written out the entire story and we’ll get a one/murata type situation where someone else will just retranslate and redraw a lot of the manuscripts and some of the most recent arc to give it some artistic justice.

Killua clearly hasn't really finished his character arc. Like you briefly stated, his family dynamic is not explored nearly as much as it probably is intended to be in the series, and we have a few loose ends that make it likely that he will return. Togashi himself has stated in at least 1 interview that he plans on having 4 or 5 more arcs (if I'm not mistaken that was during the chimera ant arc), so if he is able to truly continue the series to completion, I'd expect that we will finally get answers to questions like how Killua knew about nen abilities of family members such as dragon dive and needle men, and if it ties into a skilled enough manipulator semi force awakening a person. Its as if his family found a way to suppress his knowledge of anything supernatural, and just the foil of Ging to Silva in bad fathers leads me to think that if we have a Gon and Gyro arc, we will by extension have a Killua and his family arc to further make the comparison between a son and a bad father and how it affects their path

Well Silva at times appears to be a decent figure of one, but still isn't a good one. He seems to take a different approach to how he wants Killua to come back and take over the family business. He even stated himself that Killua will return. Now if that was meant to be in regards to Alluka or some other schemes he has in the future, remains to be seen, but he didn't seem worried when he found out Killua removed the needle, and I have a strong feeling that if Togashi is able to continue for long enough, we will get to see the extent of his plans

I personally think Silva is counting on being able to manipulate his son in some kind of way, whether more literally by using Illumi or in some other sense, all to bring his son back and eventually have him take over the family business. I also think it is strange that Killua has so many siblings, especially when his father and grandfather didn't seem to have any. I'm wondering if the other Zoldyck siblings are meant to die so there is only one heir to the family at a time.

He seemed pretty excited by this reckless and impulsive kid that always put himself on dangerous situations. Killua never stopped being involved in conflict and life or death situations. Pearhaps Silva thinks that due to Killua's interests and personality it is inevitable that he will chose to come back. Maybe Silva saw a lot of himself in Killua during their conversation.
Killua should come back purely because he's one of the best written characters in manga.

The only case of character development better than him in all of manga is Meruem, but since Killuas development is much more gradual its easy to miss. I really think you should look into how character development works before claiming that Killua is poorly written because I've seen him used him as an example of how to write gradual development correctly many times. He is a phenomenonally written character. By definition, in practice and according to critical readings. Its OK to not like the character, but don't blatantly lie and say he's poorly written. I don’t think hunter x hunter is anywhere close to finishing. I think worst case scenario togashi will entrust the rest of hunter x hunter to someone else. The arc with the biggest potential is just within our grasp and I doubt someone who tried their hardest to continue this story even through debilitation will let it be left unfinished. In my opinion, the rest of hunter x hunter is left to the dedication of who will take togashis place as manga writer. But that’s just a theory

I really like how Hunter x Hunter presents close friendships. Things change during such a relationship. Killua spent over a year with Gon with so much proximity and understanding, doing so much for him and growing with him in return. Killua became a more human individual because of Gon's light. The Chimera Ant arc, which showed Gon's darkness and somewhat toxic tendencies re: his friendship with Killua, really changed their friendship to such a drastic degree that, after healing Gon, I think deep down, Killua knew that his friendship with Gon might be taken into a different, less dependent level. Killua depended on Gon for emotional support and Gon benefited so much. When Gon gave in to revenge, Killua wanted to save him but he was too late. That broke him on an emotional level. He did everything to save him, even bring his sister. However, I think it was during his rescue of Alluka and even more so after healing Gon that Killua finally found a much deeper reason to keep moving forward. It was a life without Gon, a life where he could make his sister feel more human, like how Gon taught him. Killua's journey with Gon remains one of the most solid friendships in much of media but the fact that it "ended" in the last episode of the anime is a really good thing for both Gon and Killua. For Gon, he could find another path outside of his desire to be a Hunter, given that he has finally met his dad. For Killua, he can now find himself, without attaching his meaning or his purpose to Gon anymore. Gon was always his light but learned to become his own light after spending so much time in the sun.

@NewWorldReview Killua could return in MANY ways, Alluka is connected to the dark continent as she is the host of calamity Ai due to having Nanika inside her. Killua could somehow end up going on a quest to discover her origins, he is currently traveling the world so it does fit the narrative and lets not forget about the Black Whale #2 as a means of travel. Another possibility is that Killua could find out that Hisoka has killed Gotoh, Killua was very close to him and their relationship was a strong one. I could see our boy wanting to hunt down Hisoka and have his revenge by killing him. This pain of loss could also be a catalyst of having Killua return to the darkness like what you mentioned in the video, his father Silva foreshadowed that Killua will return one day because he is his son.
Another way Killua could enter the story is if Kurapika makes another call to him and asks for some advice. Killua could realize that Kurapika is in a tight situation and he uses Nanika's powers to make a grand entrance upon the Black Whale #1 to assist Kurapika. Killua has the smarts and skills to be in the succession war so it's very much fitting for his character, also Illumi and Kalluto who are connected to him are also on the boat so these 3 can have their own plot points to resolve, especially illumi who is his tormentor.
Of course you covered the entire Gyro stuff in your video so I won't touch on that but I will say that the unreliable data book said Killua's mother Kikyo Zoldyck originates from Meteor City along with Canary and Gotoh. He has family roots and associates that stem from Meteor city so this could tie in with the Gyro or Gotoh plot line etc.

I feel like Gon and Killua both having ties to the Dark Continent means they'll come back to the story to join up with Leorio and Kurapika, or maybe even Ging. I know these ties they have don't directly give a reason for them to go to the Dark Continent but I think just the fact that Togashi has linked them both in some way to the Dark Continent is enough reason for me, personally, to believe that they'll be back. But of course, Togashi's age and health could effect this and maybe HxH, like YYH, will end up concluding a bit prematurely to the author's original plan.

If I wrote HxH and I know I didn't. Kill and Gon's story really hasn't ended. Gon didn't just want to find Ging but also wanted to experience being a hunter. And in my opinion I don't think he has. Killua's goal was mainly to be free and travel the world with Gon but his family has other plans for him. He doesn't want the family to lock Alluka and Nanika away anymore and miss use her powers. There might be a way to not only try to save Nanika from bring used but we also know that there are two ways to make Gon get his nen back. I remember when Silva said that Killua maybe looking for his own path but will be back definitely. So if I was writting it, the voyage to the dark continent causes the same creature that is Nanika harm. This then affects Nanika and also Alluka, forcing Killua to bring Alluka back to Zeno. They must now go to the dark continent to save Alluka/Nanika but only if Killua promises to become the head of the family. Or maybe a certain gyro meets killua on his travels and knowing the powers Nanika posses, steals or attains them causing Alluka harm that can only be solved in the dark continent. I know this isn't as good as Togashi's so hopefully he continues and brings the friends back to either save Kurapika or Alluka.

I strongly disagree with you that "Gon has no idea how lucky he is". Gon outright stated in the Greed Island arc that he is incredibly happy to be so lucky to have a friend like Killua (to which Killua responded in his inner monologue that no gon, it's actually the other way around).
The mini-arc after the Hunter Exam when Gon and friends went to get Killua back from the Zoldicks was the most emotionally moving part of the series for me. And it shows how much Gon cares for Killua. For example, the scene where Gon is being beaten over and over by that maid, and then says "Why, why do I have to do THIS just in order to see my friend?" he says that and then punches and destroys a wall of bricks.
Why do you say their relationship was "tragically" resolved? In fact, why should we assume their relationship is "resolved" at all? Killua currently wants to spend time alone with Alluka, but why should we assume that the two will never spend time together again?
All of this is very important to me because Gon and Killua's relationship is the most important aspect of the series. I would be very sad if Killua actually rejected Gon's friendship forever because he realized Gon is so very selfish or whatever (this is what you seem to imply - I disagree with that interpretation).

I just had a thought. Gyro was very simular to Gon as a kid. What I mean by that is that he had unwavering faith in his father. However Gyro's faith broke after he couldn't deny it anymore. Also Gyro has a incredible amount of will power considering he resisted his ant instincts. Seems like he's a possible parallel to Gon.
Gon gets into a lot of trouble even with Killuia's influence and is incredibly naive. So what I'm getting at is what if Gon ends up getting manipulated by Gyro in some way. We've seen how insane Gon can be when he has foil (Killuia) to dampen his personality. What if someone tries to feed into his negative traits and accelerates them. This might not happen if Gon learned his lesson and really thinks but knowing Gon's history that's probably not going to happen. Unless losing the company of Killuia wakes him up a bit and he does some more self reflecting.
Since most of the strongest humans have left for the dark continant when Giro will unlesh his plan against the human race only few hunters will be able to oppose him which include Gon and Kilua.
When Killua's facing Illumi in the last phase of the exam, Killua says he's sick of killing people and just wants to be friends with Gon and just have fun.
He'll return, when Gon beats Zushi at the Battle Olympia with his reawakened Nen then he and Killua will encounter Gyro lol This story has too much going on for it.

8:23 there's actually a lot of talk about Gyro in the anime, all of his backstory and a lot of ants mention him. welfin, brovoda, the yellow exorcyst girl and Byzeff set for a trip to find him at the end of the arc. also what we see in the anime in the episode where they fight the snake-centaur heavily suggests that gyro, who was sitting on his chair in the NGL secret laboratory-cave, got killed by the ants together with all his men, and probably transformed into an ant.
Killua's purpose is to marry Gon. Has he married him yet? No.

love this video but i have to disagree with you on gon. gon is less selfish and more just determined; he definitely knows how lucky he is to have killua and appreciated killua just as much as killua does him. He has multiple scenes where he specifically says that he depends on killua in some regards/it has to be killua/ he wants to spend all his time with killua. Its less that he abandons killua and cares less about him, its that he is very much inept when it comes to dealing with things like death(doesnt help that all the adults were assholey-ish to the kids when it came to their friendship n kite, see: bisky telling killua he will end up leaving gon, morel making killua feel worse about getting gon away from pitou when they,,, yknow.) Due to this, gon spirals and doesnt know how to deal with it. like killua, he never had friends before so he isnt exactly the best at these situations(also hes literally 12). He only had mito and his grandma so he never had to experience the death of a loved one like he did with kite during the caa. when you experience a trauma like that, especially when you have no support system, it can come out in many different ways, not just being depressed. Gon ends up dealing with this trauma through anger, he lashes out and distances himself from killua because he doesnt want him ending up hurt in the crossfire. In the end, the most important thing to gon was that killua was safe and didnt have to deal with the burden he put on his own shoulders. Gon was still a kid and he acted like one. of course he isnt going to deal with it healthily, of course he isnt gonna know what to do to deal with his trauma. gon isnt some kind of selfish, abusive friend, he was a kid that dealt with so much in so little time and didnt know how to deal with it that just wanted to protect his friend from his inevitable path of self destruction. imo i think killua and gon will end up reuniting but they have to better communicate in order to reach the height of their friendship/partnership/relationship/whatever you think their relations will end up being. also theres so much more that we havent learned about nanika/alluka so killua is probably going to return in a later arc, i dont think togashi would just leave that alone. anyway rant over i just wanted to say my take bc i kept seeing the same takes about gon n killua
I almost feel like the "sinister Silva" moment at the end of the Zoldyck arc is just a weird out-of-character moment from before his character was more clearly definied.
Everytime I think about how HxH will end, I always think back to the ending of Phantom Rouge where the main 4 talked about what they hoped to achieve and so far Gon and Killua are the only ones to do so.

Doubt we'll see it, but since Gon is nen-less, it would be on point (albeit dark) for the dark contient arc to conclude, but during that time, Gyro found Gon and killed him. Thus leading Killua/Hisoka/Ging to rally for revenge. Killua goes home and in despair becomes he head of the family to rally them. Ging pulls his resources. Hisoka is... Hisoka.
It just seems too "on brand" for Gon to meet a demise off screen, since he's "done" as a character, but the loss would start a new rage arc

Ging I don’t think would be very moved by Gon’s death, seeing as how many times he’s jeopardized his life
They need to have a distress and killua and gon planned to meet up and then where they meet up there's a tv that shows the distress call which sets everything into motion
I think that Killua will most likely return mostly due to the fact that Killua has a lot more to do when it comes to his family. They aren’t going to be satisfied with him just leaving forever. They most likely won’t ever let him get away permanently.

If Gon returns, Killua returns.
If killua returns, Gon returns.
I will prefer reunions through a fair timeskip (2-3 years) whether it’s coincidental or on by agreement.
By that time, Gon and Killua should have new purposes and new developed characterization.
-Gon should’ve already found a new goal in life since the possibilities opened up after Gon met his dad and asked why he became a Hunter.
-Gon has been training mentally in order to move forward and forget the past.
-Gon should’ve already got strong in nen again. After blaming his weakness for Kite’s “departure”, he is now like one of those MC’s that gets stronger to protect.
-Killua has reflected on his friendship with Gon during his travels with his brother/sister.
-Killua has now gained a vague picture on what he wants to do in life after retiring from being an assasin.
-Killua has been learning on training his mental resolve and desicions by leaving Gon to the side for a while since he might been thinking too much of the past and his relation with Gon.
-Killua has developed and trained his nen in order to protect his brother/sister.
Of course for now, Gon and Killua’s MC rights are taken away and that’s going to be for a long while. It’s only fair for others. Kurapika, Hisoka and new characters are getting their own arcs, development and spotlight for a while now. Best thing to do is wait patiently and enjoy what the manga offers now.
i think their relationship IS inherently a loose end. I believe that closure for them, (an apology from Gon?) or a reunion is inevitable, personally.. though I agree they will probably never be main protagonists again!
the main issue is alluka she can just save killlua in any situation kinda removing the tension and stakes. Killua would be able to solve any scenario and situation so in order for him to come back alluka would have to leave him for some reason, get old enough to look after herself and learn to use her power, die/be killed or somehow lose her power. In order for killua to come back alluka would have to be dealt with, in a sense the writer has kinda written himself in a corner with alluka making it very difficult for him to return. I really hope all the 4 friends come back for the final arc but I'm really not holding my breathe because it would be very difficult to do.
What if when the new series return, Illumi controls Killua and Alluka, and uses it against Gon since Hisoka dies(which Hisoka wanted to kill Gon). And Gon and Killua fight against each other.

Alluka can teleport killua anywhere in theory. not to mention alluka is technically from the dark continent she will be connected to that ark eventually because she already is connected to the dark continent.
i think you’re really misunderstanding gon’s part in killua’s life. while gon has self destructive tendencies, i think you’ve forgotten a lot about how gon helps killua throughout his life. you’ve mentioned how gon is selfish for throwing himself in danger, but doesn’t killua do that for him too? they both care for each other so much, to an equal amount i would even say.

I would say that since Alluka is mostly just a container for Ai she might have a larger part to fill in the DC arc (huh. dark, DC wow) as it might be in Beyond's mind to conquer the DC using something that it gave them as a punishment once to fulfill his own desires.
