He's slowly gaining the trust of Beyonds crew, while not 100% loved by most, there is at least quite a bit of respect that he's earned in a short amount of time

Being able to explain his motivations in a compelling and awe inspiring way with the skills to back it up. He couldn’t have done it with just charisma, but his interactions with beyond’s crew showed his ability to lead a team in the most blatant of ways. They didn’t submit to him from fear or bribery, but through his will

enhancers can scheme too .... of course it is battle strategy wise not personality wise .... we have seen simple minded Gon outsmart his opponents in the series
@@rev9115 Battle tactics are different than scheming. Scheming tends to be underhanded and conniving. Pariston schemes. Most of the time Gon reads his opponent and tries to counter them in the moment.
I don't actually know that he was a schemer. He schemed, yes, but he did that because he was bored.
Why was he bored? He ran out of strong opponents.
Remember he trained his martial arts, and then decided that it would be a good idea to go into the mountains and perform 10,000 punches of gratitude day after day after day.
Then he came back and showed off his new strength my using overwhelming power to mercilessly defeat every opponent in front of him.
That there is THE critical, formative events of his life and there is no scheming to be found.
Netero is not an Enhancer (We don't know his actual category but he most likely was an Emitter) and the databooks weren't by Togashi.

I feel you ruled out one big info: Gon. We've seen families have similar nen affinities (Zoldyck white hair transmutation / black hair manipulation) so Enhancer is still a serious candidate. Especially considering he can copy punches specifically, which suggests he's a brawler.
ebym2207 i agree. i would think ging being a enhancer and maxing his possibilities on other affinity’s just because of how powerful they could be. a combo of all other affinity’s as a enhancer would be powerful.
The only problem is that this piece of information only has a sample size of one family so it could just as easily be an outlier or something that the Zoldyck's have from generations of nen users while it seems like in Gon's family as least on his father's side only him and Ging.
Plus for the Zoldyck's they still have three different nen types out of six from known members with most of them being transmuters or manipulators and with Maha being an enhancer. So this isn't a rule even the Zoldyck's follow very closely which makes it not very reliable. By this logic Gon could just as easily be an enhancer because of his mom and not his dad.
Brawlers can be emitters too, the boxer in Greed Island.

From just the writing perspective, I'd say Ging's most likely to be a natural Enhancer, taken to the logical extreme. Enhancers are the most balanced of the Nen users, having access to all the basic Nen categories in equal amount (80% Emission and Transmutation, 60% Conjuration and Manipulation), unlike other Nen affinities, which always put one usable Nen category at 40%. Given that he's had what seems like decades of experience with Nen, it's logical to assume that he's not only mastered Enhancement but all the other Nen categories up to his greatest potential.
That, combined with his raw natural talent and skill in aura control, would allow him to go around the "Enhancer = simple Hatsu" rule of thumb - he could still have a relatively simple Enhancer-based hatsu, but his ability to replicate other's Nen abilities and put his own creative spin on them will allow him to find either a simple Nen technique in a given category, or an ability he's learned from somebody else to apply to virtually any situation.
Essentially, Ging seems to be a Jack of All Trades when it comes to Nen, but, given his level of experience and talent, by no means a "Master of None".
An enhancer that enhances other people's hatsu. That's his hatsu he doesn't have one he just figures out how to use other people's hatsu better than them. That would make him extremely powerful in the right hands and an excellent teacher, but only to people who have already developed a hatsu.
I would laugh so much if it turns out that Ging never made a Hatsu for himself.
What if he couldn't decide, and just kept copying other people's abilities to try them out and learn how they work?
@@tomc.5704 That's actually quite a plausible possibility, but not because "he couldn't decide"... If he is a natural Enhancer, then he wouldn't even really need a hatsu - an enhancer can get by entirely on basic and advanced Nen techniques, which is why few of them have a complex Hatsu. That in turn would give him more freedom to experiment with other Nen types and be satisfied with using the basics along with abilities he copied from others without bothering of creating his own unique one
Enhancers are simpletons, Ging is not.
@@anivonatoll5319 I still lead towards Specialist. my braindead theory is that he is a specialist who's Hatsu is like Kurapika's Emperors TIme allowing him to use each type at 100% but the restriction being he has to use a version of someone else's that he has improved himself. I say this because Nen abilities are influenced by their user. when did we see Ging demonstrating the most passion? when he talked about finding and preserving ruins, and the joy he got when his peers acknowledged him. finding something and making it better is his passion and access to the whole Nen circle would would allow him to do this to the effect we see. I honestly believe his ability is something as simple as that and hes just smart enough to add his own natural skills into the mix.
You should have mentioned Ging's feat of manipulating his tape. He used Manipulation to give a command that perfectly activated 10 years later, Emission to put aura into the tape, and Enhancement to make the tape player strong enough to block Killua's punch. The Manipulation command was also capable of overriding electricity itself.
Ibokuri involves Transmutation (though it's not a reflection of one's skills), and Ging defeated a master of the game.

"natural talent" is an overstatement that implies that it is his nen ability. He is just really good at nen that he doesn't have to expend a lot of concentration to copy strike type nen abilities.
Probably an enhancer with nothing complicated for his hatsu. He doesn't need it, he can adapt and manipulate nen in the transmutation and emission category so well, he could be just creating abilities on the fly given the situation. Need to make a rope and hook, transmute it. Need to create a fire at a distance, emit it. He is probably just that flexible.
What if Ging is just ridiculously smart and purposefully does everything he does to fool everyone around him into believing his nen types! My theory would be specialist or specialist Like kurapika having some sort of set back

I always thought it would be cool if Ging was a specialist, not only would it mean that his personal nen ability would be really cool and unpredictable, but also he would be opposite Gon on the chart and I just really like that idea
Although it is still unknown which Nen category he falls into,
he showed extreme prowess in Emission and Manipulation when he put his aura in a tape with the order that it self-deletes after playing. The command activated perfectly ten years afterward, and the aura was strong enough to block Killua's punch,
indicating he has considerable skills in Enhancement as well.

Hunter x Hunter (2011) Episode 38, when Gon is listening to Ging through the tape, Ging is shown on an Island manipulating beasts. I don't know if you might have missed this.
It also looked like he conjured a huge aura sphere, but it could have just been the environment.
I haven't seen anyone on UA-cam talk about this but I think the scene of ging riding a dragon maybe just what gon thinks is ging is doing at that moment but I do feel as if that should be submitted for closer inspection

Great video! One of my favorite videos about Nen. Reminds me of why I absolutely love this power system
7:49 He isn't nervous? I'd argue from what's shown he's actually really nervous when it comes to social situations. Yeah he can string together a formidable plan, but when Gon tries talking to him he struggles to get out a word. From his past interaction with Elena it's also suggested he's at the very least antisocial and shy. Of course I'm no psychologist so of course don't take my word as fact but from what I've read, he could be socially anxious. Of course he doesn't actually show all the symptoms and seems to hold most conversations pretty well, though one could argue those were either when he was really close friends or maybe he doesn't tend to get anxious in things he doesn't view as social situations? (It's not sound logic of course). Though I'm mainly talking about his fear of talking with Gon as he kinda abandoned the kid, and it's clear he doesn't want to face him. He becomes self-conscious about how he's treated him and is afraid of how it'll look to Gon and also the others during the election. Hell he even does kinda beat the shit out of the audience for being judgemental about him
I personally think ging is an enhancer with a hatsu that is increases his intelligence. Sure ging could be just talented, but he learns everything quick and ends up master it without much time passing.

I really think he is an emmiter. Easily mimmicking Leorio stuff, the personality stuff and also for him being a "adult/older Yusuke" (who's special power is a effin finger laezor)
That also makes me think that that scene with him playing that nen bubble moving around the fingers game imply that he could make some very complex leazor shots (curve/homing/teleporting/[add an weird effect or condition here], wathever), making it very much a evolved version of Yusukes power xD ....but thats more of a very.. VERY wild guess.
I am 99% sure that Ging is an Enhancer.
Personality-wise he is predominantly guided by emotions when setting his goals (he just gets bored out of official and important duties) and the selfish part is really not that far fetched at all I think, he's a lot in a "I'm going to do it my way, try and keep up" whenever he's up to something. He is a simple man too, even if he is a smart one: he does not need or want much, he just knows how to get to it. The fact that Enhancers focus on simple abilities is also very much still a green light here since, because of his immense skill in the art of nen, even "complex" abilities are stupidly simple to him. Isaac Netero, despite being an Enhancer, had one hell of a complex Hatsu.
There are several other factors that could point to Enhancement, hypothetical heredity rules for example or the fact that narrative-wise it would be something to have an(other) enhancer on the same level as Kuroro, but the real tell-tale sign for me is his level of mastery over Nen. On the Nen hexagon, you might notice that the closer a person is to Specialization, the more they have a tendency to use a refined Hatsu, whereas the Emitters and Transmuters use their aura in a rawer sense and Enhancers, like Wing said, have no true need for a hatsu. Even if an enhancer has a hatsu, it tends to be a combination of other nen techniques, with which the Enhancers seem generally more proficient than other nen users. The fact that Ging can emit and transmute the shape and size of his aura with such ease, and reproduce any Hatsu he has seen so far, leads me to think that he has a total mastery of every base of nen manipulation and thus points towards an Enhancement type of affinity.
TLDR : he is way closer to the concept of Nen as the manipulation of aura that he is to the concept of Hatsu and that is a very enhancer thing to do.
I could also see him Specialization, just because that is such a rare and unpredictable category that almost anyone with a bit of charisma could fit in there, but that's very random.

Personally I think Enhancement, if he's that good an a nen user than he can use each category to their respective amounts so copying and enhancing these moves comes easy to him
Take a look at Gon and see how he uses his hands (to test out the conjurer idea), maybe stuff passed down by genes. Maybe get the answer through Gon?

I mostly agree with the conclusion, and in the subject of his actual hatsu, while it could be a hatsu that elevates his “talent” to an even better “replicate” technique, i think based on his nature, he might be inclined to an ability that puts him out of trouble or gives him “space/time” and hindsight. He doesn’t seem too interested in physical conflict, and more interested in keeping things peaceful as long as possible- plus, with the effectiveness of his natural nen talent, that could be what he uses if he needs to get physical, and if he had always had it, he must have made an ability that works in a more versatile/defensive way, having known he can fall back to his talent if something physical is needed(and even then, he needs to be punched first, supporting his peaceful “i’d rather not hurt others unless im hurt or in danger” personality)
Im inclined to him being a specialist due to his very goal driven character towards “discovery”/“reaching new places”, something most transmutes lack as they themselves have a hard time settling on what they want and can change their minds later on. Not only that, but many people all over hunter x hunter’s world find Ging remarkable, and are allured by him, in the quest to find him. A trait that’s very inlined with specialists, as they naturally attract the curiosity of others and have an allure towards them.
Perhaps, his ability only activates when he’s attacked, and/or, again, serves to be on the defensive and avoid conflict with others, or give some space (maybe it is part of the reason why he’s so hard to find, tho i doubt it’s *the* reason, sense he probably would use it sparingly as he doesn’t seem like he’d be interested in showing off his hatsu and get recognized/caught with it, unless absolutely necessary)
All that being said- he really could be a transmuter or an emitter, or any of the others as far as we know, we haven’t seen too much of him to really say for sure, but my other 2 bets would be in emitter(has a decent chance, his somewhat emotional/shy actions and understanding of others emotions seem to be a decent argument, the bleed over traits of enhancer and manipulator could be argued as a reason for his motivation towards finding the new continent and perhaps Don Freecss ) and then of course transmuter(not super likely imo, but 3rd most likely)
he actively searched out and taught kite everything about nen, so space isn't necessarily a thing to ging, but I agree that he is charismatic considering he allured such strong hunters such as kite and razor, admired by satotz and bisky, and deeply respected by beanz.

I believe Ging is an Emitter. The box, the tape, Greed Island and copying Leorio’s hatsu are all emission. There is a really great theory about his hatsu being cooperative. A really strong hatsu requiring 10 other people (the excavation team, greed island game masters and possibly why Ging is really eager to pay for the 10 (9 members + Muherr) associates of Pariston or worse comes to worst 9 members +Pariston himself, Alternatively, he can use the 10 original Zodiac members for the Dark Continent) for it to work. The restrictions are up for debate (11 people with same goal? 10 people trust Ging? 10 people accepted Ging’s money?) I do not know. Really amazing theory and I think that theory crafter nailed Togashi’s plan.
I think he was a hot headed emitter who could copy and enhance emitter techniques who turned into a independent specialist later in life and my theory of his hatsu is creating or rebuilding nen structures (ex: Greed Island, Rebuilding Ruins and Ancient Tombs) with restrictions is him requiring 10 oddballs to support or trust him and Ironically that would be tough cuz he rarely doesn't get along with people (ex: Zodiacs, Greed Island Buddies, And the 10 oddballs that helped him). Kinda like a symbiotic nen ability and would explain the huge amount of nen and power to create greed island. And now he is assembling a new team for the Dark Continent.
Netero is an enhancer and used conjuration in his hatsu. Ging is most likely an enhancer leaning towards emission like gon is. When he picks up the specialist guy on beyonds team he scared him with his physical punch feints. And being able to copy only strike type abilities further strengthens that theory.
I still think he's a Conjurer. Ging is exactly the kind of man that would openly use the exact opposite nen to his preference, especially since he was trying to fool Pariston. He's also always shown to be serious, on guard, and imo pretty high-strung too. You never really see him joking around, and he always seems worried about something, thinking 17 steps ahead, etc. And the dominant hand thing fits oh so well.
Plot twist, aka regular plot for Togashi; Ging is a Conjurer, he is so good at Nen he tricks people into thinking he is an Emitter, his weakest Nen. Plotception, perhaps with some Specialist shenanigans, Ging conjured up Gon and is observing/researching his life from afar.

not sure you can call him uncreative, he took leorio's ability to a whole other level and created Greed Island, also he refers to his ability to copy other's hatsus as a "natural talent" so...

My theory is he was a natural Transmuter and then became a natural specialist because we haven't seen his real Hatsu and the recreating and then making better ability he has just screams Transmuter because they change the properties of aura and Ging changed how to use remote punch when Pariston was around. The reason I think he is a specialist because transmutation is second to last in probability to become a specialist naturally and that is why people thin he is so powerful.
Hmm watching this video and accounting for everything I really like the possibility of Ging being a conjurer. Not only is his most well known student a conjurer, which would make a lot of sense. But he also was the man behind Greed Island, the most complex conjuration style nen construct. It would also reek of nepotism if Ging was another Transmuter/Specialist, which seem like the only 2 other options.

Miura pulled the rug under us into making Ging go from mystery guy to Gon's replacement (retiring Gon to Whale's Island)... and worse, we got a brand new mystery guy in the family to hunt down: DON FREECKS!! hahahaha This particular storyline is going round and around on the merry go round.
I agree with Ging's probable nen type, but the "solitary and charismatic" definition of a specialisation type also fits a lot and may allow for more freedom to suit the character to the needs of the story if need be (unless the Succession War arc AND the entire Dark Continent arc's plot are already set)

Because of your guess I'd speculate he's a specialist. He's a master of none improver of all. Which would allow him to be an amazing teacher, but I think he'd ruin his mystery. Plus his place is seemingly not to be the hero but make sure sure the hero finds that first step. If we ever see him as the hero I'm gonna assume it'll be a very dark chapter in hunter x hunter.

And he has such a mastery of Transmutation that he can effectively transmute his aura into having apparent properties of other Nen types
Ging said he taught kite some of his techniques in the remake not sure if he said it in the manga or original so maybe a specialist since he’s naturally good at emitter attacks and could do what I believe was a conjurer technique since he taught kite his lucky slots
What are the chances that Gon is tied to the activation of Ging’s specialist ability. If say for example he gave himself a condition that if he never acted as Gon’s father that would give him access to better than usage or more interestingly if he had promised Gon’s mother that he would take care of him and then sacrifice that promise as the condition.
Maybe he’s like Stein from soul eater. He took parts of each Nen personality allowing in to use all with ease similar to how Stein could manipulate his soul to match other people’s wavelengths
i think ging is a specialist because of Gon when he told him to wait for his nen to return... i think somewhere along the line it was mentioned that Gon could become a specialist too since he would have to start over from the basics as he would surely have a method of tweeking his nen affinity

The series in the beginning kept comparing Gon to his father so I think naturally Ging is an enhancer like Gon but over the years he became a specialist since he has so much knowledge of nen and the world I don't think he'd be tied down to any other specific nen type. Keep in mind that people's personality can change so their nen may change along with
I think he's an emitter because of the radio. Nen loses power the further away it gets from the user and how long its separated from the user. That radio had nen that was separated by a distance measured in years. That's absolutely insane but well on the wheelhouse of a genius master emitter.

I am more towards thinking he is a Specialist the main reason why i think so is because if he is a specialist he could use any type of ability he wants regardless of nen affinity cause specialists are not really bound by nen affinity
Ging could be a combination of both. I actually think he can be both an emitter and a specialist. One thing you have to note with the emitter, they are impulsive, short-tempered, and quick to react. Ging is all that at times. However, they are also not detail-oriented which is not the case for Ging but that does not mean emitters do not focus on things when they have to. For example, Leorio is studying to be a doctor and obviously, he is detail oriented in that sense. And Ging is more of an impulsive type of character rather than who is meticulous. This is even explained by him when Ging says that a lot of times he does things on a whim and then he says things to justify it.
And he is probably so great at nen that he probably has moves that might fall into other categories.
I could be that Ging is an enhancer and that he specializes in using that enhancement on his own mind, allowing him to better control his nen.

I think to help answer this question you also have to look back at when Gon and Killua returned to Whale Island to open the box that Ging left for Gon when he became a Hunter, the box itself was enfused with Nen and so was the tape recorder when it was rewinding the recording. Knowing this, I think he might be a manipulator, as manipulators have the ability to control inanimate objects. Hope that helps.
Pretty much chrolo but with having to prep but only needing to see and greatly improved the nens ability
I like to think that ging is a specialist and that his ability is similar to emperor time - giving him 100 % proficiency in all the aura types BUT he doesn't get the boost to his aura that emperor time give to karapika.
Given the new information recieved in Togashi's notes, and how there can be 90% Enhancement 10% Transmuter type characters, it's entirely possible we're only being told how the Nen system works, based on the inworld understanding of the system, from the characters we're following. At first with Gon and Kilua, they're only just learning and we are told the basics. Now with the Sucsession war, Kurapika has a better understanding and we the readers are then given that information. Ging is one of the top 5, so he would have a higher understanding still.
Ging did what he could keep Gon safe though? Taking him with him on his Hunter escapades would have killed baby Gon. He took him to a place where he would grow up with family and get the skills needed to become a hunter, and then made him a video game that would make him good at Nen, and then made sure he'd go to either Ging himself or Kite, the two best people to guide Gon further. I wouldn't argue he's a good dad, he's not, but he clearly does care for Gon in his own shitty way.
Wild thought. What if Ging has like 100% or maybe 80-90% in every affinity
well since kurapika is a specialist with emperor time, ging could be a specialist with the ability kings gambit, in which he can conjurer many different types of nen abilities, which would put him in second in line to fight the leader of the spiders, only after hisoka naturally, hisoka is going to die, thats true, and ging will defeat a weakened spider head, unless something dire arises, AND IT MOST LIKELY WILL.
I think specialization has the same critera as conjuration but has a higher chance of being outside of that criteria because of the nature of specialization
I think we may not be viewing Ging’s affinities from the right framework.
The few thing we know in terms of Nen accomplishments are he knows exercises for using Emitter Nen and helped Kite make his Nen ability which has qualities that go so far into strange fields that it absolutely dabbles into Specialist territory with its reincarnation.
I think he’s focused less on specific abilities and more into generalized competencies so that he’s able to adapt to virtually anything on the dark continent.
I think it makes a lot of sense for Ging to be a conjurer, especially when he trained THE best conjurer known so far(that being Kite).
And it would make Greed island a lot more impressive as well. And just like with Morel, Ging is so adept at nen that using his weakest affinity(emission) is irrelevant to him.
Using your weakest nen type as a splash application, that actually makes perfect sense. I would want to be an Enhancer personally.
I think I'd like to see him being a transmuter. Specialist seems to be a little too convenient plot-wise to separate him from the other hunters as a special type of person. But I could see him having pretty good nen-skill in all classes. He might have 2 affinity's as well that he can swap around somehow. Or perhaps is tied to each hand. This way he would be able to use almost any basic nen ability. He is very analytical, so I think something of that nature would suit him very well.
Probably a hunter who is good at every catagory but insanely good at one category, or is a specialist and good at all the categories, or ended up being super good at all the categories and insanely good at one category, but evolved into a specialist later.

I think he is a specialist. Kurapika kept to his lonesome as one, yet still entrusted one person that caught his attention only after discovering his nen abilities. So unique abilities may draw the attention of a specialist and they in turn become intrigued by it. Just like ging and kite. Or the spiders and chrom
I'm betting he's a specialist with some rare ability. But he is very intelligent and skilled with nen that he is good at every category making him capable of copying other abilities he sees.
Pretty Sure Ging is an emitter. We already have prominent transmutors all over the series

I’d like to propose two ideas for the channel- both pertaining to HxH and Jojo’s: a series in which you take a character from one series and speculate on how their powers would work if translated into the other series’ power system. And one in which you pick out a hunter and a stand user to work as a duo and explore how stand’s and Nen could interact alongside each other
I disagree about transmutation. Ging doesn't lie a lot. I think Emission is the most likely, followed by specialization.
Ging is definitely a deceitful person. Ging is the type of person that lies by omission or being evasive rather than straight up lying. He fucking had Gon sent to Kite if he decided to meet him with a friend, he doesn’t let any of his “friends” know his whereabouts, he changed his homeboys name for the name of his game lmao. Ging is by no means an honest guy
@@KeenanRuffinEl Quite every character is deceptive in HxH. The strategy that Chrollo adopted in his fight versus Hisoka, shows how tricky Chrollo is. Kurapika is constantly using deception in the current arc (how he teaches nen, how he tricked the Zodiacs in showing their abilities for finding even the traitor) --> That shows how Hisoka's personality test doesn't work, since every character (who isn't as simple as a Leorio or a Gon) shows the traits of more personalities.
That being said, I think Ging is an emitter.

Hey NWR, I know you probably check a bunch of social media accounts and your discords and what not so you might not see this or notice it but just in case... Do you remember the episode that Hisoka showed up to when the 13th chairman election and messed with the Zodiacs a little bit? One thing that is bothering me is how Hisoka said he was looking for GING. Not Gon, GING! Can you speculate as to why he was doing this? Did he want to fight him? Do they know each other and are checking in? Ging was also in Hisokas little toy box as a little plushie and I know that detail doesn't matter but I can't help but be curious.

My bet is that he’s actually a conjuror/specialist. I believe gin started as a conjuror and somewhere down the line became a specialist which allows him to use multiple types of nen like kurapika. It would also make sense that to hide his true ability he would specifically showcase emission abilities which are on the complete opposite side of the nen spectrum.
He's more likely a Transmuter or a Specialist in my opinion~ But I lean more towards Transmutation as I think of it as after getting hit by other's Nen, he can transmute his own nen to imitate what hit him. I think of it like how Feitan's nen works hwo he needs to experience pain and transmute it to pain packer to (1) create the suit which falls under conjuration and (2) release Rising Sun which most like falls under Emmision. With Ging, he needs to experience the nen itself (it seems like with his conversation with Pariston it doesn't always need to be getting hit by the nen) then transmute his own nen to imitate that nen ability.

Dont be fooled Netero is an enhancer but he also displays character traits of a transmuter. So I wouldnt take Ging being an enhancer thats able to enhance other nen types like emission off the table. To add Gon is a blood type B like Hisoka a transmuter but is an enhancer who inherits his literal physical traits from Ging. Most often genetic traits from father to son pass down. Gon has used is rock paper scissors as an enhancement/emission attack when fighting Knuckle. Gings attacks are quite similar in nen usage. To add enhancers are selfishly single minded on goals. Netero with strength and fighting worthy opponents. Ging seems to have an affinity for adventure being a rolling stone.
i know this sound like a copout but i find it very likely that gen as change nen affinity more than once. with him most likely starting out as an enchancer or transmuter, but after going through life he mature more into new affinities
I personally think Specialization because of the fact that he does draw people to him. He may be hated in the hunter's association, but it's higher ranking members are still in a way "drawn" to him or at the very least have a lot of attention on him. This also opens the doors for him essentially being able to use any nen type freely because of how unique a specialist can be.

I think he's either a specialist or an Enhancer. I'm very doubtful of him being a transmuter, and as we saw with Netero and Bisky, you aren't necessarily confined to your nen type if you are an especially skilled user. And Ging most definitely is. I really want to see what Pariston can do now. Because even though Ging thinks he could easily pummel him, he doesn't. Which means he knows there is more to Pariston than meet's the eye, or he wants to beat Pariston at his own game.
