@@NorwegianXplorer why don't u use train runner shoes? lighter? if so which brand? regular hiking boots get wet even with gore tex...in the winter it's miserable
@@thiccfriedokra9189 I use approach shoes, trail runners dont cut it for me if I am climbing or doing technical routes, I dont care about current trends within the "Ultra Light" community

thicc fried okra thats a difficult question, depends on the time of year, some places are better for summer and some better for winter. It gets awfully hot some places and awefully cold other places.
Some beautiful footage you got there. I think Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park is officially my favorite park but I love all of the Sierras. I miss California so much.
Mine too but pray, it's currently closed because the whole thing is burning down!!! Sept 15th 2020. Evacuated Three Rivers just under the part, the park itself and maybe Springville, if it's your favorite park you know where these places are...
I did this same hike by myself in the reverse direction a number of years ago. Loved seeing it again through your video. I saw bears in the camp at Simpson Meadow and also on the descent back down to Road's End. I got a nice closeup shot of a cub about 10 feet away in a Manzanita bush gorging on berries. Very memorable.
I really appreciate the way you set up your shots. I can't imagine putting a camera in front of me or behind me hundreds of feet to set up these scenes (if I was that tired - and I would be tired : )
What a GREAT hike. And your photography and editing add some much to the experience. It felt like trips in my past backpacking that I experienced. Thanks for all your efforts. Keep up bringing us great wilderness experiances.

Your movies are amazing! Like you, I am passionate about hiking and everything that means outdoor activities. You're norwegian, from what you said. I am from Romania / Bucharest , but I travel annually to Norway, for the last 10 years, for tourist interest. Unfortunately, this year I had to cancel my vacation in Norway due to the pandemic. A special year for all of us. I did trekking in Jotunheimen, Hardangervidda, Dovrefjell, Reinheimen, Breheimen, Rondane. I have great memories! Now, with your videos, I can go hiking. Stay healthy! This was an amazing video & I thank you for sharing and taking us along on the trip. I agree with you about Mather's Pass being your favorite as reaching the peak & looking over toward the lake was spectacular. My favorite was Devil's Bowl, Palisades Lake (especially at sunset), the hike to Marjorie Lake (it was beautiful), the suspension bridge (was very cool), Woods Creek hike and Rae Lake (the color of water was so Tropical). Fantastic job on the video & a great adventure!!!
As a native of the PNW, I have hiked and ridden much of the Cascades in Washington and Oregon. The beauty there is amazing. But I have to say the Sierras are incredible, and your superb videography shows this area to its best advantage.
Epic professional trek video, now in my top 10 best treadmill hikes. Scenery 5+/5, Solitude 5/5, Stable video 5/5. Really enjoyed the natural sounds without dubbed music. Great work guys!

Thanks for posting this Jarl! Of course the whole hike was spectacular, but days 4 and 5 stood out for me. Especially Palisade Basin was so gorgeous. It kind of reminds me of Titcomb Basin in the Wind River Range with its numerous alpine lakes as well.
One of my favorite videos is of a group of guys that portaged their kayaks over Bishop Pass from South Lake, then ran the Middle Fork all the way down to... Pine Flat Reservoir? Beautiful video and I've backpacked in much of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and in all the National parks. I've also backpacked in the North Cascade Range and throughout the Rockies. The high Sierra will always be special to me but Arizona also has some incredible places to explore.

I am compleatly amazed how well the path has been maintained for hikers and though the terrain looks rough, it looks like most people with resonble good fitness can do the hike. An exellent work on the vedio and nice music. I am compleatly amazed how well the path has been maintained for hikers and though the terrain looks rough, it looks like most people with resonble good fitness can do the hike. I am going to start hiking again after we reopen and i ve got my gear together. So rewarding don't you agree ?.
