@@EnduranceRoom what you think wich tent or tarp w e need for long term survival in woods?can you make video about this?Sorry for my English..I love youre videos and i respect you
I really enjoy watching bush craft videos. I want to build a shelter this spring, I just can’t decide which one. The Corporal’s food always makes me hungry.
Excellent shelter build!! Just a tip for the doorway, that I have used... 1st time I built a super shelter, I rolled up a poly tarp, secured the fold with gorilla tape wiith 550-cord inside to act as a hanger/ridge line. This allows the door slide open and close alot more easily. Now I use a shower curtain with 550-cord through the grommets to slide the door open and close. Both methods work great but the shower curtain method is what use now!! Again, good build!
Loved the super shelter. It looks like it will be a blast to sleep in. Good to see Kathryn again. We need to see the fur baby too! Love you guys and your channel. Blessings to you guys.
Amazing. I’m a wuss when it comes to camping, my wife not so much. An rv cured that problem. To watch you engineer that shelter kept me riveted. Your enjoyment building it was evident. Thanks for bringing us along
Looks like that Coghlan's paracord. Great step by step concept shows what can be done and how not to concentrate on one aspect but developing the shelter instead of just building. Thanks for sharing Hello Catherine
@@EnduranceRoom That really is a super shelter. I have the same exact big tree saw. So I know it was not an easy task cutting those big ones at the base . Now I see why you call yourself Endurance. ✌️👍
Raised beds are key! Especially in winter I love my backpack cot more people need to experience that!!(= Ive been wanting to biuld a similar setup but like a half tipi style, who the hell gives a thumbs down right when your notified stay strong&healthy safe&happy brotha!😁✊🔥✌💚
These things look so simple but the built I made last week and the one before that gave me a lesson. This is professional. 4 hours to build it is not bad. I wanna make myself one at home. A super tent I could quick-deploy. I'd even buy one if there was a heavy duty version. My plastic tarp lasted one drunk overnighter before being badly burned and the grommets destroyed 😀
Great job! you and Katherine should be nice and cozy in there, that's amazing, the temperature difference even with a small fire. The chickens cooked over the fire looked fantastic. Take care. 👍🏕🔥
Thanks Kyle! It was definitely significantly warmer in there. The individual sized ones are pretty cool too. If you set it up in an area with small saplings and some deadfall, you can build it pretty quickly.
Awesome looking shelter. I likeed how you were using the bow saw. Definitely no way to cut yourself using that method. That russian suit is looking awsome. The camo is growing on me garrrrrr!. Well anyways cool vid thanks for sharring.
AWSOME build, great idea using the smaller saplings to shape the top of the shelter and weaving and twisting them together was a really smart TIME SAVING idea!!!!!
Thank you for taking another stab at the “proper “ super shelter. Honestly, respectfully, I was cringing seeing you try it with the last set up. I spent last fall digging into Mors Kohanski. I did a camp with a super shelter for the first time earlier this winter. I was amazed. Are used 4 foot long fire and it was 0° F that night. Someone else mentioned the Harrelton Hacienda. Kelly Harrelton was as I believe the last apprentice Mr. Kohanski took on.I’ve seen a lot of people skip the details on the super shelter. And the genius of it is in the details. Great job. I really wanted to see y’all and the dogs in that half a wigwam. Two thumbs up. 👍
Thanks Mike! The biggest issue I had with the last version was the seal at the top escaping heat. The small space heat up quite well, but leaked heat. I needed to get up one point around 3am and rebuild the fire. Details are important. Was fun going back and learning more about the process/design. Its quite an interesting shelter. Gotta check out the Hacienda. cheers
@@EnduranceRoom all the best to you. I love to learn. Enjoy the journey. That’s the key to happiness. Thanks for keeping the “old ways” moving along into the future. BTW you can stop creeping me out with the Big Foot stuff. I have to live up here with him.
Thanks brother! Much appreciated. I held off for the longest time on trying one of these, but after learning how they were built and the thought behind the design, especially the clean air exchange component, it made a lot more sense. Cheers bro
A long fire across the front if you have the wood, you could get it into the 70s if you wanted no problem. Nice job, haven't seen the cotton sheet before but it makes some sense. I live just outside the Adirondack myself👍.
Great video, really like your content. Just a tip next time don't support the hips, they need to have the ability to sag to get a proper Mors bed. His booklet and instructors at Karamat taught us that you are only to support the feet area, knees and neck. The saplings and bows will take care of the rest. Good stuff though!
Love the shelter build, the fire you need to heat the shelter is a Siberian log fire, their awesome and it would last all night, Lars from over at Survival Russia uses the Siberian log fire in minus -50°C. as always I love the content you and the Misses put out.
thanks brother, I dig Lars’ channel. That is definitely the fire to go with if you have the logs to build it. You can simulate it by stacking more together. Idea is to make a restricted air space, kind of a natural stove, so its burning inside out.
Interesting shape and structure for a survival shelter, looks sturdy practical and safe thanks for sharing and greetings from this small rural town somewhere in Mexico!
It reminds me of the Hoop Shelter in the video from Muskrat Jim in his videos from Canada. He only has his upper arm on the left side however, he is good at bushcraft. His right arm is able bodied.
Nice job professor! Consider modifying it into a sweat lodge during the warmer months using rock's from high ground and placing yarrow on the hot rocks. Built one using Tom Brown Jr's instructions and it worked great!
@@EnduranceRoom Also the SSO seat pad olive drab is excellent! It's surprisingly warm on your back when wearing it. Just ordered a second one and left a review on the first.
Hi Jess another great video thanks! I was wondering if there was a methodology behind using saplings for the bed instead of laying logs? Gotta find me some of those snow leopard sheets, looks like great inexpensive snow camo!!
Thank you! There is a benefit in that the saplings will flex and help contour to your body. I actually used a bit too heavy saplings. About 10 finger diameter saplings are good for one adult.
you are thinking one advantage is raised floor ( should put planks crossway not long way ) and you are using more tarps to hold in heat and keep out wind and cold and the fire is good idea my biggest takeaway is probably the raised floor
Excellent work brother. She may thump your head when she sees you used the sheets . I’m only on three platforms but I’ll put you out there . You two have a great evening
@@EnduranceRoom your shelter design is similar to an igloo / greenhouse and if you were able to sheet it with vapor barrier type plastic would be beneficial for sunny days to help heat the inside...would have to have a sunlight type sunroof opening at the topside...also note if you took thinner saplings weaved thick end to thin end alternating around your main sapling ridge poles it would add strength...I saw a video a while back where a fellow did that to a bushcraft bowsaw...looked very sturdy
