Come along for part 2 of my solo winter bushcraft camp.
this time we will be gathering firewood, building a fire reflector, cooking up supper and spending the night in the super shelter I built with minimal gear, and a wool blanket.
Lets see how hot the shelter gets.
This is the last episode in this 2 part series.
Thanks folks!

I had a lot of fun on this trip. I hope you guys enjoy this 2 part video
I always watch your videos while eating my meals
Hi Joe. I enjoy all your Videos
hey there joe. keep them videos coming ........ since I am disabled and cant walk, I live my camping through you.
Always great vídeos. You inspired my Chanel!
Hey Joe only 45 mins in video those ribs look good
stumbled on this channel and now I'm addicted!!!! I can literally spend all day watching these videos. They're so amazing and relaxing.
Robert Powell check out some of his canoe trips. Him and Kyle have done some really great trips in the last few years.
@@erickillg811 .. yeah go to vids when it comes to relaxing.. they are amazing *sigh* one day
@Offgridburner smith they make me feel relaxed is what I meant
Yes when I first found this channel, I spent hours watching his videos, so interesting!
me too.
There's something special about watching a grown man in his little wooden mancave dancing and singing while welding a knife and using it to eat meat he cooked on a raw fire
Idk how many times I've had to make some food after watching joe eat 🤤
I had to pause and go whip up some left over turkey. Joe’s good to watch with dinner haha
DOVAH FETT turkey what is this American doing lol 😂 just kidding wish I had some turkey right now
ya sometimes ill eat dinner with him lol thought i was the only one
sometimes i just skip to the eating part xD
IKR?? Lol watching makes me hungry!!
Ole Scout could never be replaced. Tripper is just the next pup in the lineage to carry on the tradition. My wife and I both cried when we found out about Scout. R.I.P Good buddy.
4 days ago UA-cam recommended this channel and now I have already watched more than 10 of your videos. I always dream of a amazing life like this , keep it up , you are doing a great job 👍
Also did the same thing. Lol
"Ohh there's the beans" cracked me up ahah
I foresee the shts coming on😂😂😂
55:20
Over here in the United kingdom we have a little rhyme..
Baked beans are good for ya heart,
The more you eat, the more you fart,
the more you fart, the better you feel, so eat your beans at every meal..... The whole world must have that rhyme, each in their own language.
This looks so cold and wet and gross and i feel like everyone in the right mind would hate this. Some how Joe makes this camp so cozy and warm feeling. Damn, Top notch lmao
There is no replacement for scout, joe; however it's a different day and now it's time for Tripper to write his chapter in your life story.
Great comment scout was one of a kind......but so is tripper....hes just got some big paws to fill
Mr. Joe, hello! This is my first comment to you though I've been watching and enjoying your videos for a long time. Going back to some older videos of yours along the North Fork of the American River above Sacramento California - I've backpacked, camped & rafted this river since 1963 (not all at once) so I was delighted to see you playing on the NFAR! I camp way up river from where you were rafting, where the Black Bears are plentiful and the exploring is Devine! Being out in the woods overnight or for a couple of days with only a wool blanket to keep yourself warm is not what I would choose to do, though if I had too I could follow your directions and I think I would be ok. I've a host of adventures from my years along the NFAR which allow me to appreciate what you do. When I am 'Out There" I do my best to take care of myself and my gear and not abuse either as once damaged the joy of the trip goes down.
I enjoyed Scout and I look forward to your adventures with your new "Whirling Animal", he's a ball of energy! Take care of yourself and your family, your ailment needs close watching and your family needs your love and presence with them. Best Regards, Herb
felt like I waited forever for part 2.
Really enjoyed these too buddy! good job on the shelter! ATB - Andy
I remember the first time I watched one of your videos and scout was in it. I immediately subscribed and turned on notifications. I saw the videos about scout passing and I cried my eyes out and I haven’t even seen you guys in real life. Now its almost been a year and your videos still give me joy and I thank you for doing what u do and for you being you.
Only the best UA-camrs upload original content like this guy
Joe eats like he is at a fancy reasuturant with his steaks and lamb while I’m eating my freeze dried camping food
Canned beef stew and canned bread.
Dude, this has to be one of the coolest camps you’ve ever made. Really enjoyed this trip. Thanks Joe!
“ I noticed I put a few holes in the plastic so I’m gonna try to be careful”
*instantly scrapes log against the plastic sheet*
LOL...that's how it works outdoors. Did something similar with my stove.
Noticed that too haha
Lmao would be me
Real clumbsy will get him killed one day. seeing him use his tools
@@Niels357 I bet you sit in the dark in your room all day commenting about how you could do better lol
YES we all like Tripper!! He's a good pup, he's smart, he's obviously loved a LOT and well taken care of! Tripper's fans (including me) are looking forward for watching him grow up!!
Dude!, my first comment on your site, you do a fantastic job of both showing your skill but also adlib entertaining-just as others have commented below, could watch forever. Seems to me your knowledge of tree types and foliage is a HUGE part of your success. Not just quick recognition, but what value they bring to either sheltering or building a fire-you’re a walking expert! I also get the feeling that although you have a great time and think of your viewers, your heart is at home with your daughter and family dog. When you can, keep em coming but be safe and wary of surroundings, watching all these people vanish when alone makes me nervous. Subscribed, enjoy and God Bless! Thanks, Mike and Family
There are plenty of burly woodsmen. But Joe has grit. I think thats why we admire him. He’s tough. He works through the adversities to get the job done. He uses finesse and not always strength to succeed.
dont you just love those early, dark , cold mornings while half asleep bringing the fire back to life for that dear and wonderful warmth!?
This is the content I come for sir. Don’t know about others but yes. No advertising and no long life updates just pure entertainment. Just one fan’s perspective though. Everyone is different.
Oh man I missed out on those beans! That's a cool shelter dude, I really like the compactness of it's components and those nifty toggle pins that you made.
1:04:20 when i saw that 40°c i burst out laughing you were basically baking yourself there
It’s a miracle that somehow you didn’t drop your meat that entire video
When Joe sat down and said all is right in the world I felt that. Very healthy life style. You inspire me to be better man. Thank you
I'll tell you young man. That was, to me, one of your best videos. Relaxing, informative, good job. I'm definitely going to build that shelter. Thank you for all you do. Bam Son!
I laughed so hard when you were talking about your Napoleon complex. If somebody was walking around the woods they might have thought you came all the way out there just to talk out loud about it to yourself. 😂 i love the videos joe keep up the good work.
One of the best videos you've done yet! Love the skills taught, the cinematography and overall vibe of the video. Well done Joe!
For me it is so interesting to see the evolution of the camps over the years - the ideas that were so steadfast are now replaced. This is truly helpful. Thanks to you, Joe, for providing guidance and common sense. Peace, brother...
2:39 shelter kinda looks like a taco :D
A Joe Robinet taco
Could be worse...it could look like another type of taco.
@@jesser5127 racist.
Joe Joe is good for the heart the more you watch the more you take part and the better you feel so watch good ole Joe with every meal!
Beans, beans the magical fruit,
the more you eat, the more you toot,
the more you toot, the better you feel,
so let's have beans for every meal!
@Marq LOECSTA Party Pooper, hehe
“ ... ,” so *eat* your beans for every meal. That’s our family’s version. Same magical crux though, lol.
Ah yes..
The old B&M Baked bean commercial..
lolol
Beans, beans, good for your heart,
The more you eat, the more you fart. As told in the UK by some
my families version ends with "Beans, we eat them with every meal"
I spend hours upon hours watching your videos because they’re so entertaining to watch.
59:29 Don't you just love it when you find a bonus pillow in your backpack that you put there yourself? :)
Touchy issues he could’ve not known it was there lmao
Watching your videos are therapeutic for me especially since I live in Los Angeles and it's so fast paced here. these relax me man.
There is never enough firewood Joe, never enough
indeed!!!
55:20 "oop theres the beans"
lol
Joe is like a Dwarf from lotr. He’s small and good with a axe
Came across your channel yesterday morning and can't get enough of it!
I watched one full camp yesterday morning and then this one this morning. Cool as Hell man! Makes me want to go camping.
Hey Joe, was wondering if you have advice for someone just starting out in Bush craft or wanting to get into Bush craft adventures. Specifically, someone with limited or no outdoor experience, how to stay safe and keep from getting themselves into a dangerous or potentially dangerous situation whether it be, getting lost, hypothermia, injuries etc. Obviously, a first time overnighter for someone shouldnt be miles into backcountry in or off a main trail, in the middle of winter with a foot + of snow already on the ground.
On a side note, just want to say how much I appreciate your videos and all the hard work you put into making them available for your viewers. Currently they are helping me thru a very hard time in my life dealing with severe depression and chronic health issues. Your adventures remind me of what I value most in life aside from my wife and daughter and that there is joy and a light beyond the darkness engulfing my life right now. something to look forward to and work towards. Thank you for the always inspiring and motivating advendures. Take care, be safe.
Do day a few trips without sleeping over. Pack your gear. Hike into a spot not too far from your car. Build a shelter. Build a fire. Cook a meal. Make some tea. Break it down and go home. This way you’re risk is much lower and you’re still working your skills. Eventually you’ll be more comfortable with your skills and gear.
@@Dominick_Francione thnk you! This is great advice and a lot more feasible to do on a regular basis. Cheers!
Practice, practice, practice all of your skills. In different formats, low light, no light etc. Until you can do what you need to do anytime you need to.
When you said you had not had that much fun in a long time, those of us who watch you faithfully could understand and agree with you. It was evident from your words and facial expressions exactly how much fun you were having all by yourself!. I could not believe that thermometer when it registered 102 F! That is crazy hot in that type of shelter and with the long fire! Even this 76 year old guy could tolerate camping like that (if I had a cot, and a chair, and a young Canadian outdoorsman to do all the work). Reminded me of my childhood camping experiences to a certain degree (they hadn't invented your shelter coverings yet).
As always, stay safe "Joe Faucet", stay safe!
watching this without heater on to emulate the conditions lol
Got my air on full blast lol gotta be cold when ya watch this lol
I'd be complaining the whole time. What magnificent discipline Joe.
55:21 “Oh, there’s the beans!”
Brings back memories of building camps when we were kids!
“I pick things up, I put things down!!” 😆😆😆😆 Joe you rock!!
All of these videos are really inspiring and not only for me but for my daughter as well and she's only 4.
Jungle book, birds are beautiful and animals are our friends.
I really enjoy the way your film Joe. Especially your fireside chats very relaxing and make it feel like we re there with you. Thank you for what you do.
Everyone knows there's nothing like a good ol' breakfast of oatmeal and bean water 😛🤪🤣!!!
I am so glad he makes random movie quotes, speaks in accents, and has his dialog with himself. Makes me feel perfectly normal. I would really enjoy camping with him and learning
truly impressed with the temperatures in side of the shelter,
Joe Robinet and Survival Russia, thats 2 channels what i watch and enjoy.
I am so jealous ... if I did something like this in local woods I could end up in jail. I am glad you can camp like this in your homeland. Best wishes
Same here in New Hampshire. I'd have to go 2 hours north to the White Mountains to do that.
Please never stop making videos like this.
Man I'm so glad you enjoyed this camp so much! It looks like all of your hard work really paid off for a fulfilling dinner and relaxing camp!
LOL!!!!!!! "Well, It's now a hundred degrees in here". DOH!
I always loved camping so much. I no longer have a companion to go with so I really enjoy your videos. Being in Texas, I don't know that I would tolerate the cold as well as you do.
Can you doa video about the three knots you recommended?
Truckers hitch, bowline, and siberian hitch. Those are my top 3 and highly recommend you to learn them. They go a loooonggg way in almost every outdoor application
He had done one a few years ago. Bushcraft knots or something.
Tripper will NEVER replace scout, but he's a good dog and will grow into a companion.
I'm curious if the Call of Duty Mobile character with a beanie on was modelled after Joe Robinet... literally looks the same! 😂🤔
It's not that tripper is here to fill scouts shoes, as it is scout has laid out the path to start and now tripper gets to ver out on his own and make new paths having new adventures with you Joe! The best part is you get to have fun too!! I totally love it when you catch any of trippers derping out! It usually ends with me laughing so hard I tear up! Thanks for letting us get to know tripper!!
i taught my neighbour how to make close pegs from sticks...he thinks i'm genius...Thanks Joe !!!
I'll take him to the dollar store for clothespins and watch his reaction. 🤣
@@vanvorst1999 LMAO
Why, does he wear close??
@@brookeggleston9314 clothes...oops
I noticed you get really happy when you cook I really enjoy watching you cook that some of the parts of my favorite videos
Dropping a like and comment before watching cause I know this video is about to be amazing!
These videos always bring out my inner 10 year old building forts in the woods next to my neighborhood.
Joe I always love watching your videos they're so relaxing
Great videos! Yes I love seeing you with Tripper and how he is progressing in his training. 55:30 - "Did you hear that, coytes or maybe an owl" More like barking spiders!
Do the coyotes ever come near? (Guessing not this trip with the beans and all that).
🤣
Thanks, Joe, I hope you enjoyed your warm sweet sleep. Thank you for sharing your video
55:20 killed me😂😂😂 "oh there's the beans"
Great video Joe shelter is fantastic all you really need. I love how you are always wiping you hands and knife on your pants from your food making a nice Joe meal for the critters to come and eat.
I feel like Joe could spend a few months outside and he would end up building his own village
This is terrific. I love the fact that this guy is so independent and self-sufficient, and yet he also seems like a really nice guy. I would have expected a gruff loner that didn’t know how to communicate effectively..
I really want to know how heavy battery banks he’s carrying around.
I always enjoy these little trips like this. Great to see you feeling better and be able to get out and enjoy yourself again.
Joe, for a night like this instead of the long fire you have planned, why not make a russian survival fire, using long logs six of them to burn all night, and adjusting them forward through the night, they say it is a much more efficient fire as well.
Cuz he doesn't know what he's doing
Lets put my wet boots will my head will be
@@seanmurphy5013 After seeing the russian log long fires. The diameters of those logs are often twice as large as the logs he uses. I thought maybe that would be the reason. Those using the russian long log fire, are using chainsaws behind the scenes.
Maybe but I doubt it his saw is what my dad took with to cut down Xmas tree when I was a kid. And who throws tools in the snow?
@@seanmurphy5013 I think if you have seen all his videos he does, in fact, know what he is doing. He does it so well he is sponsored by many companies and I am sure his You-Tube stats would differ with your critical negative opinion, my two cents.
Definitely in my top 3 favourite series of videos you have done. Makes me want to get out and try to build a super shelter in the cold Manitoba winter.
looks like someone in the background at 1:11
I LOVE your videos! And the bean saying goes... beans beans, the magical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot, the more you toot, the better you feel, so eat your beans at every meal!
Yes! Was getting fed up before I clicked on here, thanks for a good vid Joe!
Agreed. Actually I'm always Fed Up...
Fed up days just need to get out into nature
@20:22 Ahhhwh shizz! He did a throwback 90's. Skee-Lo, SON!!😁 The turkeys at the end was a fitting way to conclude the video.👍
ayyy rolling a goood ol joe while watching joe.
Lol I'm smoking some wedding cake and it's abit harsh
@Miki Miyazaki Just say no Miki.
HOLY CRAP!! Super effective shelter! Good design too. Glad you had fun because I certainly would have!
"pokies" and a "unit of measurement: butt load" Love it!
I've been watching your channel for over 2 years now and this is easily one of the best vids you have made in a while. My girlfriend and I just watched part one and two and we enjoyed every second. When you ate that lamb we were historically laughing, bonus garlic salt! 😂 we could almost taste it. Cant wait to see more. Bravo 👏
Ever tried using a Siberian log fire to get an all night fire? Can highly recommend it in very low temperatures.
I have always wondered why he does not do that on these occasions where he has limited gear. His mentor IA Woodsman has the three log fire that he has shown, which is known for its longevity also
@@hermit6208 Yep; there are several different configurations that make more sense for an overnight fire. I have no idea how I would do with one of the ones he's shown in this video while camping in -20C for example. In addition, the Siberian log fire doesn't need a reflector wall since most of the heat is projected forwards, which means you can get very warm where you sleep with minimal effort.
Of all of the shelters I've seen you build I think this one is my favorite so far I love what you did with it
11:22 pretty sure you were whistling the song “These Eyes”. If so rock on lol
Hi Joe..
Seconded.. Robinet means faucet in French. I am speak 4 languages .
I am from Mauritius.. a little island in the Indian Ocean. I cannot say how much your videos have helped me to remotely experience the wilderness the way I've always wanted to..
I really admire your dedication, passion and love for what you do and your dogs..
Thank you for this ! 😉
I’m not sure if I missed it put couldn’t find an update on your health. Did you have “the operation”? It looks like you are doing well. Love you vids.
That's because you honed your hand eye coordination. Gotta love Joe
In regard to your Napoleon complex....just remember...dynamite comes in small packages!
You are the only bushcraft that I enjoy watching you.
50:43 you threw perfectly good meat in the fire! Bro!!!
It still cracks me up even though it’s the third time watching this when Joe says ”I’m so glad I learned how to use an opener like this!” right when he is using it the wrong way😂
FYI Joe, a "stag and doe" is a term not used outside of Ontario and eastern Manitoba. A gal from ThunderBay had to explain what it is to me.
I thought it was called a "Stag Do" ... another name for "batchelor part". Must have misheard it
Please explain!
I'll try. A stag (men) and doe (ladies) is a get together usually before a couple get married the close friends throw a party to raise a shit load of money for the couple. I hope you get the drift ,cheers.
@@brookeggleston9314 A stag and doe is an organized pre-marriage social that the couple and wedding party arranges to raise funds for themselves and the wedding (more social than a GoFundMe). The couple can rake in $20k or more depending on how many people attend. It often has several social games, lots of liquor, 50-50 draws, tickets, etc. It is separate from a bachelor/bachelorette party which are simply social often raunchy events. I'm not personally fond of the idea from an ethical POV as it basically means you are raking in funds from your friends & neighbours for selfish reasons.
I really enjoy your videos. I love how long they are. We get to see everything you are doing and makes it feel like we are with you. Thank you!
