Great video Bill! You've taught me another lesson. I've always lumped jewelers in with clothing designers, etc.., and would never give them a second look. From now on I'll keep my eyes wide open when coming across these watches during my ever growing searches. Best regards, Brian
Hey Brian, great to hear from you. I'm almost tempted to say, 'Don't tell anyone...' like the great buys on Parmigianis ... that seem to be drying up. Or the H. Moser watches that have virtually disappears...the old ones (like mine) ... and now the new ones are running out of stock. So mum's the work on HW and VC&A. Take care, Bill
Thanks, Bill for the great summation. I really like the Harry Winston, I found a 35 mm Chronograph HW in platinum for around 7K, which is quite great for a platinum watch, but I am not sure if the size will be good on my wrist. I really like the van Cleef & Arpels as well.
You're wise not to get pulled in by just the brand. I'm not a big chronograph fan; so even though I really like HW, I'd probably pass. (Besides... don't we have a watch for around 7k we're saving for?) Take care, Bill
Hi Bill. Who really needs a Rolex in their life? Both Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston would appear to offer an incredible amount of quality and style. The Gold traveller looks really nice at 36mm. I much prefer the smaller sizes myself.
Hey Tuna! Nobody needs any watch they don't really like or won't wear. A collector can love his Orient as much as his Rolex; so, it's all about likes. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci I'm your man Bill. Orient, Seiko, Tissot, Cartier, and even Gucci. I like every one of them. Purchased from Ebay on the cheap. All the best.

Love scouring the internet for fashion brand deals like these. I recently bought a Gucci watch for 100 euro , it had a elabore ETA 2824-2. I just removed the movement and sold the watch case and dial for 40 euro. Payed a whopping 65 euro for a great condition ETA 2824-2.
Thomas, now that is a creative plan-and a lot of fun!. Gucci has gone mainstream Mall, while VC&H as well as HW seem to be more restricted to Boutiques and now, online! Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci Unfortunately, I don't. I have never seen any modern or vintage movement with this type of architecture. But It's possible they borrowed the basic architecture from vintage movements such as Unitas 6325, FHF etc. and highly modified it to create their own movement.
@@xuliuk All information for movements made by Jean-Pierre Jaquet are hard to find. Since he worked exclusively with ébauches, it would seem to be easy, but even the 4 Jaquet 736 movements (in 4 watches) has not revealed the base. Best guess now is that it's a Peseux 7001 in a shaped movement case. Take care, bill
Joe, they still have them at VC&H (www.vancleefarpels.com/us/en/collections/watches/pierre-arpels.html?category=all&q=) Eventually, one may come your way when you can afford it, or, like me, find another watch you like that's more affordable. My Heure d’ici, Heure d’aileurs was at a time and place I could afford it from a friend. Take care, Bill
great video, super interesting as always 👍👍👍

What’s your plan on the ETA 2824-2? Spare parts, or for a new watch? Nice savings!
@@Javi_C I'll just be using it for spare parts for my own watches. It saved me about 150 euro in total.
I have a couple of Gucci designs from the early 80's. For fashion watches, they seem quite well made.

Some of the older models (such as the White Ensign) from Arnold & Son used the Jaquet 7061 movement, but the finishing seems much better on the H&W...
Do you know anything about the Jaquet 7061 Xuliuk? Thanks, Bill

What do you think of Vulcain 50s president watch. Do they have a good movement? I saw one for sale and thinking about buying one.
Hi Adrian, it depends on the price. Vulcan has both in-house and third party movements... they can be great "under the radar" values. Take care, Bill
