    Honestly. You are the best reviewer out there. Hands down. Nobody speaks that openly about the cons. And you have no problem stating what you don’t like in a very open manner despite, I assume, being a North dealer. You are the person I would buy gear from, because what I get from you it’s the pros and cons which will allow me to decide whether that is a suitable wing for my style.
    Thank you. Lots of respect for guys like you.

      Hey @Stefano, thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I want to be as open as possible with products. The reality is that they are not for everyone. Every product has pros and disadvantages but I’m always cognitive of the fact that someone has poured hours and hours of their time into designing and producing it. The last thing I want to do is disrespect that. It’s always a fine line, and I hope I got that right.
      Thanks again for your support and I’ll continue to do this type of review.
      🤙

    I just got second session on 4.8 and this wing is a blast!!! In combination with Armstrong mid length 75l I was able to get up and have a fun with North MA700v2 in 12-14 knots! This wing definitely appreciate power! This is not only racing dedicated wing. You can really have a fun as a free ride wing. It’s a bit on a heavier side in comparison to Allula, but performance is insane!

      Completely agree but it does require a decent amount of skill from the rider. Glad to hear you are having fun on it.

    Wonderful review. Thank you. I don't think this wing is for me (price, low end power) but it looks fantastic. Good to hear that it hits the racing brief so nicely.

      Thanks mate. Yes, this is not a wing for everyone but for the racers and those wanting to go supersonic, it’s an amazing choice.

    Absolutely loving my Nova Pro. However the Mode Ultra looks amazing. Interesting to see if North will incorporate Shiftlock on any future wings or if it's a once off on the Nova Pro.

      I'm with you on the Nova Pro, it's my favourite wing. The boom is such a game changer for me. It's hard to go back now.

    When you say - you preferred mainly 5.5, what were wind conditions /how many knots/. And for your weight, how many knots you think you'd need to feel comfortable with 4.8?

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  6 місяців тому +1

      For the 5.5 I was comfortable in 20kts down to around 12-15kts. It’s worth noting that I was on a small (HA650) foil which didn’t help the low end. The 4.8 and the HA650 was a bit gutless in 12-15kts.

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  6 місяців тому

      I’m 80kg and was on a 58l board with a 650cm foil. In 12-15kts the 4.8 was not quite enough to be comfortable.

    Thanks for a superb review? What's the main difference between mode pro and mode ultra? Have you tried both or just ultra? Seems that both wings are after similar needs. Can't figure out which is best for the flat water "need for speed" type of sessions. Thanks!

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the kind words! Yes, I’ve tried both and they do have slightly different uses. The ultra is a bit more technical to use and is faster but it needs wind. The mode pro is more versatile and has a better low end. It’s still very fast but nothing on the ultra. If you’re looking at flat water speed the Ultra is the go.

    Hi thanks for your review, if we check wind range in in North website it seems that Ultra has a better lowend compared to the Mode pro, do you have different feeling? I have Mode pro 4.2 and 5.5. and I can confirm those ranges

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  6 місяців тому +1

      My experience is that the mode pro has a better wind range than the Ultra. I think this is partly due to the fact that I’ve been using the Ultra with small foils to maximise the speed. Don’t get me wrong, the wind range is good with the Ultra but it’s shifted up towards winder conditions. Hope that helps.

    No match for the Ozone Fusion double surface wing.

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  6 місяців тому +1

      I have to say, it feels very similar to the Fusion. I don’t think there is much in it to be honest…apart from the price tag!

    • @HADDEN67
      @HADDEN67 5 місяців тому

      @@hydrofoilacademy the main difference with the Fusion to single skin wings is its ability to glide fast through the lulls as it has less parasitic drag.
