i got a couple days on 2025 mode 4.2. went w boom i love it. q- long bag-with boom how are u folding it to get it into bag with boom attached. i wish bag was longer so no fold into bag, i am folding the leading and trailing edge to get it to fit but barely works . I gave up n taking off boom just using a half fold. also canopy i think is 100% matrix.
Can you comment on the wind range of the Mode Pro 2025? You say it has more grunt than the Nova Pro. The North web site suggests the Nova Pro has about 3-4 knots more bottom end than the Mode Pro for equivalent sizes.
I don't know why they have this on their website as my experience is that Mode Pro has a better low end than the Nova pro. I have also found the top end to be slightly more too so I would suggest the Mode Pro has a better wind range than the Nova Pro. It's so hard to give you actual figures because it will change depending on skill level, other gear used, weight and conditions.
When comparing my new Mode Pro 5.5 2025 model to my 2024 model, I find the canopy tension in the trailing edge area is much less. Who can confirm it? Could be an advantage for acceleration in low wind , but a disadvantage in strong wind.
For flat water free ride would you go mode or ultra? One thing that seems strange is the north website suggests the ultra has a wider range yet that seems contrary to your reviews?
I think the 4.8 would be too close to the 5.5. I’d go with the 4.2 as my windy wing. It’s good such a good range of wind it should cover the gap nicely. Hope that helps.
Ive been using the 1100 and the 750 for a little while. They are so damn good! I'm just waiting for the tails and the 900/1400 before I can do the review. I think they are a month away for me.
I wish they had put a bend in the strut like the ultra and made it more ergonomic, I really could not care less about the shift lock system, Duotone have shown you don't need something like this to provide interchangeable handles/booms. I'd much prefer the ergonomics over the straight strut that the shift lock seems to require. I simply cannot use a straight strut wing, it creates tendonitis within a few sessions as the ergonomics are so poor. North's adherence to this design just puts me right off, every year I look at them and every year I dismiss them due to that straight strut and poor ergonomics, they literally have one wing I will consider which is the ultra, which is a shame as I otherwise like what they are doing.
I actually agree with you on the strut. The good news is that the 2025 Nova Pro has a boom and an ergo strut. I've used it a few times and I absolutely love it.
@hydrofoilacademy well that's a relief, ergonomics are so important when you spend several hours a day on the water. Sorry about the first comment, i read it back and it was a bit grumpy old man. Thanks for answering.
Great review.. Again 😊
Thank you 🤗

I agree, it could have done with being slightly longer. I found I could put the whole thing in with boom by flowing the tail up.

What is the leash you have on 4:12?
It’s the North belt leash. Love it.
@@hydrofoilacademy Sorry! I meant the harness line 😅
Where did you film this session Gav? Looks a sweet spot!
It was all filmed up on the Northen Beaches, at fishermen’s beach/Longreef. It’s such a great place for winging mate.

That’s interesting. Do you mean it flaps when going upwind? I did not notice this when testing.

For flat water free ride I’d go the mode pro. The Ultra is a race wing and the low end is not great.
Any thoughts on quiver - ive got a 23 mode 7m, 24 mode pro 5.5, stuck between 4.2 and 4.8 @85kg, and can't make up my mind...

@@hydrofoilacademy cool, makes sense, thank you!
Waiting for review DW series 🤞🙏😅

Are we getting a review on the Swell 2025? 😃
Yes, as soon as mine arrives I'll do a review on it. I have got my 2025 Seek already so I'll probably review the two together.
Title of your video is wrong, this is the pro not the ultra
Thanks for that mate, amended it now.
