Actually recently looking and if you went with every upgrade I close the custom Heads for arm lock it’s around 850. I’m sure though you wait long enough other brands will jump all over this and then the competition will lower the price. Much like PXG who initially only allow you to get their clubs through a custom 4000 dollar getaway fitting at their center to now they make still very expensive but less than initial clubs. I do see this going down. Or future models being less because the company is more established
@@Station2Station-du2ghI can see $600 in tech being put into a driver (but will still buy a few gens older personally) but I can’t see that much tech being put into a lie angle balanced putter? I've been playing one of these for a couple of years and I can't imagine ever replacing it (unless it's another of the same type). A couple of weeks ago I pulled out another putter (expensive one!) and tried to hit a few putts just for the heck of it. I was like the putter was ALIVE. I couldn't keep it straight! The lie angle balance is not a gimmick...it's amazing. There are a couple downsides: the putter is not great in strong winds (too much surface to blow around), and the cover is horrible (wears out in months). That said, it is the best putter ever as far as I'm concerned.
Yes! I had forgotten, but I had the same problem occasionally at first. What I discovered is that it’s important to hit the sweet spot (center) as closely as possible. It doesn’t have as much forgiveness as some putters when it comes to off-center strikes. Also, do not use any forward press...it’s built in.

It gives great feed back an the grip is very comfortable, it’s such a neutral feeling club in the hands an I sunk more 10 foot puts in 20 mins than I did ever. This putter is on my Christmas list for sure
I got to try a Directed Force at a local store before I actually knew anything about it. My initial impression was how tension free it feels to use it. I think it would suit a wide variety of players as it remains so perpendicular to the target line through the stroke.
At $425, that putter costs more than my entire golf bag right now. Strata beginner set, added a top flite 4h on sale, 2 Wilson wedges, and a $30 Amazon-special putter... And yet here you have me searching for a $400 putter. I guess that means great video lol
I think it’s for people trying to buy their golf game. Not saying that’s a bad thing or it doesn’t work sometimes... but I’ve sunk more putts with my .50 cent yard sale Odyssey 2 ball than my stepdad has with his brand new O-Works Fang that cost him over $200. I got fit into the Blād this summer and benefits were immediate on the course! I ended up grabbing a mallet, mainly out of curiosity, and have since fallen in love with that one over the Blād. The more you get used to relaxing your grip, letting the putter swing, and not feeling that attempt to twist in your hands, the more you get away from being able to even pick up a standard face balanced or toe hang putter again!
You should test the Edel Torque balanced putters. Essentially the same concept, keeps the face square and prevents torquing but actually look like putters. They're incredibly customizable with shaft, hosel, head options and cost about $50 less. Quality is great too, feels really premium. Absolutely love mine.

I've had the 2.1 with Stability Tour shaft for about 4 months now. There is no putter out there that will fix you ability (or inability) to pick the right line or get the speed right. However, what this putter did for me immediately was get the ball to track on a straight line.
Love mine! Yes, it’s weird looking, but I prefer the funky looks to missing putts. I have a stability shaft in it which seems to help mute the sound a bit. Put it in the bag Rick!

Sweet Review Rick. I actually tested out one of these at my local Club because I was in the market for a new putter coming from an old Odyssey White hot that was toe balanced, never fitted for it just picked it up years ago when I got back into the game. Now that I'm way more serious about golf I wanted something newer better and actually got fitted for this putter AND a new 2020 Scotty Cameron Flowback 5 which was the Face balanced mallet. I hit the SC first and putted on the practice green for about an hour and then came back the next week and did the LAB putter fitting. While I did like the LAB putter I just couldn't get over the shape and feel of it, and looking side by side from the LAB to the SC is like comparing a Luxury Range Rover Autobiography 2020, to a Defender from the 80's that you tote around the farm. They both work and work fantastically I just didn't have the "confidence" with the LAB and it was more of a mental oooooo the SC is sooo shiny and bespoke in a way where as the LAB is more like a stick. I also though that for the price the LAB fit and finish is not as premium. It just seemed like spray painted chunk of metal compared to the milled forged shiny sexy SC. I think if the LAB was priced at $199 or maybe max $249 I would be much more inclined to put it in my bag but still I'm the kind of guy who would probably still spend the extra $$ for the SC putter knowing that I plan to keep that putter for oh lets say the next 40 years. I did feel the same feeling as you though on those long puts too, however I still was nailing 20-30 footers or getting within 1 foot of the hole with the SC. When it comes down to it, even Happy Gilmore putted well with a golden hockey stick. Just have to get out on the green and practice practice practice!!
Thank you Mr. Shiels I was debating on getting this putter I still might. But I’ve got the Scotty for now. Also because I’ve listen to you I have fixed my slice. Thank you so much for sharing your professionalism with us. A day at golf never goes without mentioning your name
I think this is probably a very good innovation. I think the ugly design and the price will prevent people from buying it though. People think 425$ is too expensive for a putter, but they'll most likely pay that amount for a driver, which makes no sense. The putter is definitely more important than the driver. @@jackconnely6048 I can't get into specifics really but the putter is first forged in LA with Aircraft grade aluminum. Its then machined finished out of the forging in Carson City. Its then Anodized in Sacramento before it is lasered assembled and balanced by hand in our factory in Reno. +shaft +grip +headcover. Every putter is custom and built to order. If I had to guess, I think our putter probably has 1/3 the margin of similarly priced putters if that even. Sadly, as we grow more popular, I doubt we will be able to offer all of the custom stuff as its just not scalable. I would love to keep production in the states but the demand may force us over seas.
Hey Rick!! I like the look of this putter and on the practice putting green it seems like your putt accuracy improved in comparison to how you typically putt at Marriott Worsley Park! I'm willing to splash the 425.00 for one, if you take it out to Marriott Worsley Park and Birdie 3 holes in a row with the putter using 1 stroke!! I'll even upload a picture of my receipt!! I got sent this putter over a year ago & hadnt reviewed it yet! Happily credit people for ideas (like I did with the iPhone launch monitor) but this is just a club review?
@@RickShielsPGA of course! I just watched peters video on the same club and it struck my mind! Keep up the great work!! Loving the quarantine content! Stay safe Rick, love from California!!!
I like the feel of the scotty cameron I have, I've also putted well with an odyssey 2-ball. If you really want to improve your putting, changing your putter wont do it. Get "The Putting Arc" training aid, practice with it daily, and soon you will say goodbye to 3 putts for the most part, and start holing many more from 6 feet in. No putter is going to make you have a good stroke, the putting arc will.
I have two of those putters. The first was in black (2.0 not 2.1). It is wonderful. But I, apparently, didn't treat it the best and scraped it up a bit, and dinged it a bit. He could not reannodize it... We tried to make it black again. It looks pretty good. I was fitted by Bill Presse at the Haggin Oaks Demo Days. I then, a couple of months ago bought the blue 2.1 from my golf pro. It looks a good deal smaller...it isn't but it seems that way. As a 4 year player I had a tough time putting. I was using a Cleveland TFi 6.5. My average was 3+ putts per hole. I needed a putter and loved the feel of the Bettinardi Queen B 6. I had been trying it and the Scotty Cameron and a couple of others. Found this guy showing how my putter (he did the demo that you did in the video) was flopping about. I tried several of his demo putters. (No BLaDE at that time - Pronounced blade) He fitted me for the one I have. Long story short, I am averaging 1.94 on putts. Long, and mid length... All the same. Yes it is a bit ugly. Yes it is pricey. But if you never had to buy another putter what is the price on that? I love it. Thank you Rick Shiels for doing the video.
Clicked on this immediately. I tried this at my local pga superstore. It was amazing, I had to see if Rick had a video review on it at the time he didn’t. (This was like 3 weeks ago)
Purchased the brass B1ad 1 and I’m telling you I was a terrible putter. I don’t 3 putt and sink the 3-5 footers all day long. The small aiming lines and compact head gets you focused on the line and not the head of your putter. The balance is perfect and the touch with brass is the best feel you’ll ever have!
Rick- I have this putter. In fact 2 as I got the 3 stripe of the model you tested. It works, I mean it really works. I have a ton of putters and this beat them all out. It also lets you take come break out of putts as I’ve talked with the owner Sam about it. Short putts are money and long putts got easy once I got used to the speed. Major downfall is of the course looks and speed. Got a lot of flack from friends and others I played golf with. Until I started making everything. I did end up taking it out of the bag. Reason was the grip is so large it was taking up so much room in my carry bag. All my clubs would hit it or get stuck when trying to pull it out of the bag. I think I’m going to buy something so I can clip it to the outside of the bag and then it’s back in. It’s that good and works. But yes it’s ugly as sin. However if you struggle with putting and make a few, you won’t notice. Cut down my putts from 32 putts per round to 28. Also let me get more aggressive with chips, short putts and shots into the green as I knew I would not 3 putt.
I purchased one almost 2 yrs ago. I love it but had to withstand the ribbing from the blokes. Now you just legitimized what I’d been saying. Great putter. Thanks
glad you finally got a hold of one of these to review Rick. As far as the looks of the putter, new revolutionary putters have always been odd-looking (going back to the Pings, if not further). I've never seen you hole so many putts on a putter review. I'd recommend you keep it, assuming you got the proper lie angle when you got it. I've got one, and i'll never part with it.
Hey Rick there is a muscle back iron for sale on ebay. There is a catch tho, it's called a 0 iron it has 12° of loft. I figured maybe this would be a good idea to review! The actual item on ebay is No. 0 Iron Muscle Back Jcm-01 Loft 12 Degrees. Now this would be something to see on your channel. I hope this gets some likes, I would love to see if you could tame this club like a wild mustang!
Interesting I putted with this LAB putter today. My buddy had it in his bag so I couldn’t resist. Feels and looks very ... very different than any putter I’ve ever used. Ain’t gonna lie however, i had no issue keeping my putts on line. If I was in the market for a putter I would add this to the list to be fitted with
If I'm not mistaken Mr finch has this putter in his bag, you was impressed with it so it must be good, it is rather pricey though, however it's all about if it works for you, it's lovely if you can enjoy the look of your clubs but ultimately it really should come down to if it does a good job and you hole the putts/improve putting. I would never discount anything based on looks (after all I'm ugly 😂😂)
I got fit for the DF 2.1 and ordered it last week! The feel of it not being “premium” or “tingy” goes away when you upgrade to the stability tour shaft. It is much softer and feels way better!
Rick, I have a Lab putter and on longer putts I don't look at the ball. The head is very stable and mishits don't really hurt you and I can gauge the speed much better by looking at the hole. Fewer 3 putts on long ones and more 1 putts on shorter ones. When I'm close enough to not worry about speed I look at the ball.
Hi Rick Sheils love your vids I leave a comment and a like on every video and you really helped my swing on my irons and my driver thank you for making vids
Rick you have to try autoflex shaft. It's just different from any shaft I've tried so far but of course you have more experienced than me and can give us some review with it. Thx
Amazing how many people think it’s a lot of money but then happily spend the same money on a driver that they use way less and could never really be considered a scoring club. I have the Mezz 1 Max and absolutely love it. Got custom fit for it too obviously (shout out to Pure Putt Studio in Ipswich, UK) so it’s the perfect length and lie. This company are the real deal.

@@samhahn6950 thanks for the info, very interesting.
@@samhahn6950 can i have a discount ?:)
Gary NYC!!
And just like that L.A.B. Is gonna be reeeeal busy!
Dont know if this has been recommended but your videos with Peter Finch are so good that making it it’s own channel would do wonders i think!
Who cares what it looks like? I'd putt with a frozen fish on a stick, if it makes the game easier and less frustrating. JS CHEERS!
I just ordered one today. Biting bullet and going for it. I researched this for a couple of month. It feel so good
I bought one after pete's vid, I love it
If I still played I'd buy this in a heartbeat, the science behind it just makes sense and I'm surprised it's only just become a thing.
Pete has had this in the bag awhile, he is putting so well! If you can get past the looks to shave strokes it is well worth it!! Thanks Rick
“I spent time on this putting green.....I holed the world.....” - sorry, not for me - RickShiels
And basically every other golfer I know... lol people care way too much about looks
I love my lab putter !!!! Once you get used to the ball forward, shaft in the middle ball position, it’s great prediction of speed is so easy !!!!!
Where’s the credit to Peter finch!!!!!
I love how it looks and sounds
This is the putter what Peter finch has in his bag bet he’s very interested in this review rick shiels 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
my brother has the blade version, he loves it. been using it for 4-5 months now
Takin a leaf outta Finches book I see
Cheers For Today Rick, Great To Get On The Channel 👊🏻👍🏻
I holed so many putts!
It's so consistent!
This is a great putter.
But.. it's ugly so.. nah.. :D :D :D
Great review!! I do agree it is a very odd looking putter but you were sharp on the green using it!!
Was this one custom fit for you or just a demo? I ordered one at 68 degree lie angle per their recommendations...can’t wait to try it.
Great presentation - Love it
FINALLY RICK YOU MADE A VIDEO ON LAB GOLF
I own this putter and it is FANTASTIC!
My friend has this putter. His putting has improved tremendously! I want one!
Wow! Loved it. Really interesting demo with the bracket around both putters. Now it just needs to halve in price 👍🙏🏻
Hi Rick love your video’s
Thank you for the great content!
Good bottle opener too, when you want a cold one on the course.
Rick ain't JD! lol
Interesting I putted with this LAB putter today. My buddy had it in his bag so I couldn’t resist. Feels and looks very ... very different than any putter I’ve ever used. Ain’t gonna lie however, i had no issue keeping my putts on line. If I was in the market for a putter I would add this to the list to be fitted with
I've been keen on this putter for quite some time, very popular in a facebook group. Also very expensive, but definitely my next (and last) putter.
One of the toughest practice putting greens at worsley marriot too!
You should do a review on the callaway b21 irons. Want to see if they are to your likings and what you think of them.
Is it always important when putting to be slightly raised from touching the green?
I got fit for the DF 2.1 and ordered it last week! The feel of it not being “premium” or “tingy” goes away when you upgrade to the stability tour shaft. It is much softer and feels way better!
The one rick has is quite old and we have done a lot of work to get them feeling and sounding better. You will be impressed, I promise!
Rick - love your videos - keep the great content up!
Perfectly balanced as all things should be!
