Silversun Pickups - Songbirds (Soundcheck Session)
I was incredibly fortunate to attend the early-entry sound check show in Oakland, CA and then visit with the band for the better part of an hour (which was a totally unexpected part of the package)! Following the band from their first SF Bay Area gig up until this moment was worth the wait. The band, to a person, was incredibly nice, easy to converse with and funny to boot. I know this was part of their "job", but they outdid themselves to make us, the concert goers, feel comfortable. It can be a bit overwhelming when your favorite live band get's off the stage and engages you in conversation! A fan forever!!
I saw Doro a few years back and they did a meet and great and I found out two band members were from Pennsylvania , we had a pretty good chat about that , that was pretty cool
I met Brian at the 7-Eleven in Silver Lake
My son and I saw this exact soundcheck and performance in Asheville, NC this year. It ended up being their second to last show before the tour was shut down. What a show! What a band! I just wish I didn't get so shy in front of Nikki because I forgot to ask her to sign my VIP badge.
I’ve shaken Brian’s hands from the stage once!
I've ran into Brian at the 7-eleven in silver Lake ca
Can't wait!
My favourite of the album
My favorite song of the album.
They did a record appearance before the Phoenix show and I asked Brian to throw this one on the setlist, he smiled and said "that probably won't happen." Him and Nikki are very cool and down to earth.
Que calidad de sonido y son una súper banda,,, lástima que no son populares y creo que está bien
I've been a fan of this band for like 2 years now and the fact that Christopher keeps that one cymbal really high still catches me off guard
I love it😊
My favorite song of this album! Come to St. Louis please.
I'll be there when they do! 😎
Glad to have this during the pandemic. Definitely one of my favorite modern bands. Wish I could be buying concert tickets right now, though. Once this virus is under control, I look forward to seeing you folks live. For now, stay safe!
can't wait , hope the tour get's to resume
Sounds great guys! Cant wait to see it live for reals...hope that happens soon. God Bless
Favorite song on Widows Weeds!

Feel so lucky to have seen them in February in Los Angeles 🎸 🙌🏾 Hope things smooth out eventually, so others can experience the awesomeness of this tour!

Great live. Saw in Atlanta 07/8 with silverchair, modest mouse, still one of my favorite albums

Sadly I'll be in bed sleeping. TT But I'll catch it first thing in the morning.
So cool! Can't wait to see the others and see if I can see myself in them!
Uhuuuuu
I was gonna see them in Madison. But no! Thanks corona!
Great song, great performance, but whoever mixed this should be fired. Bass is too low, Guitar is too muffled, and where is Lester in this mix?
Matteo, The Immortal Flame had the same feeling, also vocal dominated by everything else. Enjoyed anyway because I like the song.
omg yes! as an audio engineer it feels like a very cloudy mix. could have been the gear/console used. In general it is super muddy too.
that being said i've done live sound, it's super hard and often you are working under tight time constraints. as a result the first few songs sound bad. Not sure where this was in their 'soundcheck' set (keep in mind soundcheck likely means it's not gonna be too great). also depending on the venue they may have had to cut out a lot of the frequencies where keys and such lie because of feedback, which is why different venues sound different (also acoustics).
Curious how the other videos will be from this session that they will be releasing over the next few weeks.
Lastly, I'm surprised they didn't do a multitrack recording of the show and go in pro tools and remix it and use some studio tricks to make it sound clearer and punchier.
@@CreativeMindsAudio one thing to keep in mind (if this really wasn't mixed down after the fact) is that the engineer would be mixing for the room. With stage volume providing a fair deal of sound in the mix for a club show - it's quite possible that the bass amp made up for the low bass in the mix, and that the guitar amp had a fair deal of highs but needed some low mids to be reinforced.
I like how people who have no idea what circumstances things happened under feel that they’re the experts.
Rodrigo Roque i kind of think my comment and the one responding to me were more compassionate towards the mixing engineer. Having done live sound myself I know how hard this stuff is. And I am considered a bit of an expert in audio by many as they come to me for advice all the time in my twitch channel.
That being said I think the engineer responded at some point saying it was rushed mixed in quarantine on headphones, which actually explains a lot.
