I have been following your UA-cam channel for some time now and I not only enjoy your content, I really enjoy how you present it. Fantastic!
As someone who has been designing and programming on various commercial CNCs for close to thirty years, I really enjoy watching many UA-cam channels to see the various ways that everyone uses their CNCs. And although I use some incredible machines every day, I have decided to invest in my own personal CNC for home use. I have purchased a Onefinity Elite Journeyman which I am expecting to get notified any day now to pick up from their warehouse.
Which brought me to your enclosure build video. Thank you. This was exactly what I was thinking about building using this aluminum extrusion and acrylic. Although I already have the QCW table and legs, I have decided to hold off building the enclosure until my Journeyman arrives and built onto the table. Your video reiterated this when you showed the vacuum extraction travels beyond the bed size. Again, thank you.
    Keep the great videos coming!
    Gus

Hey I am a fan of your channel. Your videos helped inspire me to start making videos this past summer. Have you milled 1 inch thick aluminum on the Onefinity? I have been milling aluminum on the Shapeoko 3 and just wanted to get an idea of the difference. I just made a putter out of aluminum using my Shapeoko and it turned out great. You can check out the video if you want. I am curious if a screw driven machine would result in a big difference. Also, instead of screwing the sides in with self tapping screws, you could use t-nuts for the extrusion and the proper machine screw for the nut. It would make it really easy to put the panels in and take them off and the nuts do not need to slide in the sides, you just screw them to the panel and leave it a little loose then the nuts fit in the extrusion and as you tighten they turn one direction and grab the inside of the extrusion.

That is quite the undertaking. It looks pretty slick, and the laser etched doors are a nice touch. Also, thanks for letting us learn from your mistakes.
I hate cutting acrylic on the table saw, I always get showered with molten pieces of plastic. And the clear splinters are the worst.
I don't know if they have a minimum order, but Cope Plastics might be a better local source for acrylic. They're a little farther than Lowe's, though. So they might not be worth it unless it's another big job.

    Hi Ben,
Thanks for the post of your enclosure it really looks great I always learn something new from your videos. My OneFinity doesn't ship till late march (my first cnc) and I'm trying to get a head start on my table and enclosure build. I would be grateful if you would share what you determined to be the actual overall footprint of the OneFinity itself including steppers & dust boot.
On a side note, I find a lot of folks posting videos of water cooled spindles and the fact that how quiet they are compared to a standard router. However, I have yet to find any videos showing one in action with any sound level readings. I believe it would be of great interest to anyone considering a spindle upgrade or fabricating a sound deadening enclosure to know what decibel levels and frequency (hertz) range one could expect when actually cutting. ideally in a variety of materials such as mdf, soft/hard woods, acrylic's... Thanks for any consideration, Charlie from Up-State N.Y.

I prefer the nuts you can rotate into place. They cost a little more, but you don't have to worry about having them all in place before you assemble. It also enables adding more supports later should it be needed.
BTW, your mic peaks/clips a lot. You should turn down the gain in whatever you have the receiver plugged into and then just level the audio in your video editor.

I was going to mention how important measuring is, if not for ordering at least for dimensional reasons. You later found this out by building to ~24-1/2" rather than 24" So I won't mention it.
I too design on the fly but a simple box could have been designed ahead of time. This would have exposed those dimensional errors that require going to the next size of something. It would especially cut down on waste and may possibly have reduced shipping costs.
I also have to add.... WOW you spent over $290 for the frame and it isn't even Mahogany!
