How did Chinese apps become so big? Because they did not allow already established apps to enter the market by which their alternative chinese apps got the time and space to flourish without being challenged.

Wrong argument. As if talent belongs to one particular community with just 3percent of population. Myth of merit is already blown out by 10 percent reservation and lower marks than other communities. Nepotism by one community is rampant even in private companies killing meritorious from others.

There was scope for social apps based on regional languages. But sadly that was not targeted by IT majors, now it's too late as all the social media applications have made their move in that space as well
And people got offended when sam altman said we can't make a chatgpt 🤣🤣🤣...we are still a service provider and not Research and development centre of the companies
I think India being a latecomer in the social media space is a big reason, Flipkart emerged in 2008 just in time when the e-commerce boom happened in early 2010s, and its successful. Similarly Zomato, PayTM are successful.
Those app are well established only on local nation . International market consumers dont even know what zomato or flipkart is . Nonetheless paytm is unusable outside nation and it isnt even a challenge for paypal ,skrill or other monetary transfer apps
Being a service provider is safe - You are assured of decent recents because of relatively cheaper manpower in India. On the other hand, developing a product is not safe - If it is a hit, it could be a huge hit. If it is a miss, it could sink all your money. Indian companies don’t take that risk.
Why Indians didn't produce Twitter etc.? Take my example. My father was a Freedom fighter. Went to British jails. Mother was not educated. No job. I landed in State College PA, with $28 in my pocket. I got a job and did well, and my son and daughter are Physicians. Survival is the name of the game, not Twitter. My brother produced Ph. social media is a business of user base, new users will join where their friends are already. Thats a big reason why its tough for social media apps to succeed. Even if you adopt to a better social media. It would be very hard for your friends and family to shift to your app
You can't get on Mumbai-Pune expressway and hope to reach Delhi. Indian startups are all about immediate profits to founders and more to their investors (Softbank etc) and for founders to boast '3 saal me 3 billion ki company banayi hai' etc. It is never about simultaneously creating a non-monetary and everlasting value. Very few startups are doing that, like Zerodha.
Telegram is better than WhatsApp & it's been there for a very long time, it very popular in Europe. But Indians don't use it. Infact Indian Jio tried to block Telegram multiple times.

That’s the question we should be asking in every sector. We are supposed to be the other silicon valley and we do not have a single application that is used by people around the world. We have the most number of engineering colleges. That tells the quality of our engineers. Our DRDO doesn’t spin out technology unlike DARPA. A social media app is not even possible for our country. Forget about the military technology. Our Tejas will be fitted with a GE engine. We are not even close to China in any field. A result oriented R&D is the key. We have none of that. Yet we have IITs and IISc. Military power comes with technology. We have a long way to go. That starts with critical thinking in education at the later stages of elementary level or early stages of middle school.

May be we don't trust the govt and its policies towards an Indian brand with data and privacy ... Look at koo for example it was heavily supported by the bjp govt and not by the art or cultural fraternity so it caused a doubt...And we Indians were always fascinated by foreign brands...We always are in awe with foreign brands...Look at our celebrities.....which path should youth follow..for example look at the cap worn by us with the symbol of NY well how many of the Indians know that it's a baseball team??Also pictures of newyork and Paris cities are common in every t shirt and the genz feel that it's the thing...
That's not the reason koo failed I have jnstalled koo its extremely slow, crashes, nothing innovative, other than Twitter feature , name is so bad , and app had several glitches
It’s not that we are late. Indian entrepreneurs are greedy and they lack innovation. Take an example of PayTM, Baiju, OYO, etc. These people have been paying ultra higher salaries to management people just to save taxes, that’s the reason they have never generated profits. Indian software developers have been coding software’s for the whole of world, but never came up with good products which can be globalised. Because they start thinking of profits first. Unique products required vision and dedication in the making which Indian entrepreneurs lack!!
I would never have believed that Indians would want to voluntarily place a social nose ring onto the caste system that they have already had to grapple with in their own society. Puzzling indeed.
China used protectionism. But it seems India applied a selective protectionism to ban Chinese but not American big tech? However the biggest hurdle is the language barrier - which also pragues Europe - because to this is structural. Despite having talent, capital, infrastructure, etc - the EU tech space is not any better than India. India could easily mandate a national English curriculum. Side note: Telegram is (originally) Russian but now UAE- based.
Why hasn't India produced a twitter or threads or any major platform....I lived in the bay area. Met many highly skilled IT workers. Use to wonder why also. Without them silicone valley would probably fall apart.
First of all, india doesn’t need to invest in these social media because these are already occupied and controlled by either USA or China. India needs to find something revolutionary which are unique and unmatched technologies and user experience.
Very easy. Just survey the fresh Software Engineering graduates how many of them learn C++ or TDD. Yes you are right, TDD requires good English communication Skills.
We need something like insta, bumble, Twitter and whatsapp mixed together lol.. all in one app but only for indian market.. too much western influence leading us to behave according to their interest.. what about our own way of life.. what we celebrate and matters to us.. 🙏

Indian software developers have been coding software’s for the whole of world, but never came up with good products which can be globalised. Because they start thinking of profits first. Unique products required vision and dedication in the making which Indian entrepreneurs lack!!
Exactly .. 👍👍
I would never have believed that Indians would want to voluntarily place a social nose ring onto the caste system that they have already had to grapple with in their own society. Puzzling indeed.
It takes time to come out of service mindset, but India will be there once suitable ecosystem is developed.
Too much office politics in Indian workspace. No cooperation and too much jealousy of other people's success.
smartphones are bad. evil. internet is distraction for kids. ban it
China used protectionism.
We have "koo", but don't know how many are using it.
Koo app failed to invite celebrities.... even PM talked about Koo on Mann ki baat but he himself didn't open an account on koo
Why hasn't India produced a twitter or threads or any major platform....I lived in the bay area. Met many highly skilled IT workers. Use to wonder why also. Without them silicone valley would probably fall apart.
Yesss
First of all, india doesn’t need to invest in these social media because these are already occupied and controlled by either USA or China. India needs to find something revolutionary which are unique and unmatched technologies and user experience.
I'm indian but hearing sharechat for the first time in this video
Very easy.
Just survey the fresh Software Engineering graduates how many of them learn C++ or TDD.
Yes you are right, TDD requires good English communication Skills.
We should trust India startup’s and entrepreneurs;
why? since 10th century ad india has become destined to serve foreign countries. indians will work for others
Facebook's Threads Logo == Tamil கு
It must be Indians behind this. 🤣

What about koo app?
We need something like insta, bumble, Twitter and whatsapp mixed together lol.. all in one app but only for indian market.. too much western influence leading us to behave according to their interest.. what about our own way of life.. what we celebrate and matters to us.. 🙏
