I was using Kuki as an overload trigger with XL (don't laugh, I had just started) before I got Nahida and XQ, and Kuki started hyperblooming for 30K casually
her shield also is the best one(after zhongli) and she doesn't require like much more er compared to a non er scaling character. not to mention how easy she is to build for her to be great(all hp main stats with basically any sub stats)
Layla should have been in A tier at the very least! She has the strongest shield in the game besides Zhongli and 💯 up-time as well! She's also one of the best users of TotM! C'mon man! 😭
It’s mid because zhongli is extremely powerful. It’s difficult to justify leveling up a direct downgrade from a 5*. Also kirara is a more reliable 100% up time shield with a better typing and constellations.
No way Layla is Dori tier. One of the reasons why Layla is so good is the 100% uptime on her burst and shield. Plus good cryo application which is good for freeze and melt. Personally, I think Layla is A tier with the massive shield that is almost as big as Zhongli.
I still feel it's a missed opportunity that Layla should've been a Cryo catalyst. She would've been top S Tier if she was, but no they just had to give her a sword instead.
As a Layla main I am very proud to see all the comments defending her. I use her with every team that needs a shield, and prefer her over Zhongli because she shields in co-op at C-something and applies lots of cryo with both her E and her ult, both of which are up the entire time if you put her on sac sword, not even having to use any ER artifacts on her. She's the goat

Pretty much on point except for Layla. The girl is the best shielder in the game for non-dendro teams if you have no Zhongli. She also applies lots of cryo if you want that, and works perfectly with TotM. She deserves at least A-tier imo.
Yeah, he made her dirty for no reason, just because she is a downgrade to zhongli, but she is the best 4 star shielder in the game so far, 100% uptime, TotM, and she doesn't need that much ER because she has 40 energy cost...
She can be played in dnedro teams! Personally my favorite team with lyala is a hyperfridge team, (barbara, raiden, nahida, layla) honestly deals pretty nice dmg while having so much comfort im basically immortal wirh layla's hsield, barbara's heals, freeze

Cryo kinda stinks right now, right beside Geo it’s the most out of place element. It has melt going for it, but Kaeya and Rosaria do that better. Exactly, he says she does "nothing else" but previously he was complaining that Diona isn't good for cryo application while Layla IS, her shield and burst shoots stars of cryo that basically makes enemies have perma cryo applied to them. She's arguably better than Diona in freeze teams, Diona's healing isn't even all that and a worse circle impact than Rosaria. Also Diona's shield uptime is so small and needs sac sword while Layla can battery the team with fav while not sacrificing permanent shield uptime
Dude, you clearly have not use Layla and Candace much. Candace is Pretty solid especially on higher constellations, the amount of energy and hydro application she does is bonkers (reason why a Candace Nilou Bloom is competetive or better than Yelan/XQ Variants). Layla is also the best Sub DPS shielder in the Game especially on high constellations (Yes read her constellations). It is kind of unfair considering you are considering everyones constellations but isnt considering Candace c6 or Layla c6
Eakes has played with and 36 stared the abyss with these characters . However, he was playing with lower constellations. Eakes does his research , but some of his assement is from his own personal experience. Judging the newer 4 star characters are tricky for tierlists because so many people don't have them at high constellations. So unless the character is broken at C6 like Faruzan , a lot of people don't know how solid some the other new 4 stars are at high constellations. With that I do think Laylers should had been in A tier .
If you have c2 Layla you dont need to worry about ER at all. Even with a full hp build she does quite a bit of dmg and her shield is almost as good as Zhongli. Burst duration is the same as her shield and if she has a bit of er or c2 her burst is always up when her shield is. Also yes Freminet doesn’t do huge amounts of damage but he’s so fun to play especially with Rosaria
honestly, Layla slaps on double-hydro Hu Tao teams. hydro resonance makes her already strong shield even stronger with the HP boost, she can give useful buffs, she can enable occasional melts, and especially with constellations, she can deal pretty decent damage herself! and with Fontaine finally bringing us some HP swords that aren't Nilou's signature or Jade Cutter, she's honestly even stronger than she was on release imo.
I use her in the same exact team and i agree, she’s wonderful. By applying cryo and buffing teammates if u’re using the Tenacity set she makes Hu Tao to do BIG BIG BIG melt numbers. Also her shield is very strong, the application with burst is very good and she does not need energy recharge. Guys, her burst cost is 40! You don’t need an er weapon to make her useful. Ps. I clear the abyss and mine is lvl.60 (but Hu Tao is 90) and her weapon is a 3 star.

Layla is a lot more than just a Cryo shield bot. She's an amazing Cryo battery, a great Tenacity user, enables Cryo resonance super easily with how much Cryo she applies, and does very good off-field damage at high constellations. She doesn't even need a 5 star weapon either because her BiS is Harbinger of Dawn. Putting her in the same tier as Dori doesn't make sense to me.

Layla should definitely be A or S tier. If you don't have Zhongli, she is an amazing choice for a shield. With her 100% up time (with enough HP), low burst cost, and easy to farm artifacts (literally only need HP and a little ER), she is an amazing character to build if you don't have any other shield. I honestly don't know if my sister would still be playing if she didn't have Layla since she is terrible at dodging. [Edit because I think is important] Layla doesn't need constellations to be at her best which I think is also a point in her favor. Her C2 is good, but she is still a very good character at C0.
I love how the comments are defending layla, she’s my best shielder at the time when I still haven’t got my hand on Zhongli and I must say that her shield is definitely enough if you don’t just stand still and do nothing. She can always proc tenacity which is another huge upside, Zhongli can too, but I find his pillars unreliable, sometimes enemies move, sometimes the pillars get destroyed. Plus being cryo means that she can run with another cryo and in a freeze team, you would also get 15% more crit rate. Her shield performs the best at c3 and can somewhat buff (although not much) at C4 but the thing is, she works completely fine at C0, she definitely deserves a solid A tier at least imo.
I’m glad to see Layla getting a lot of love, IMO the only thing really holding her back for a lot of people is the lack of easily accessible Hp main stat swords, as of right now there’s only the limited 4* dockhands assistant and nilous signature weapon 😭
One of my favorite things to do is farming coop domains and its a freeze or melt team being used, so I sit in the middle of the mobs giving permanent cryo application and party wide shields to everyone while never moving XD
@@WriosCumJar F2p needs to spend their wishes wisely so pulling on the weapon banner over a 5-stars is already hard, plus getting to wait for dockhand assistance to be on a weapon banner takes even longer, we can’t even know if the 5 stars on the weapon banner are the one we want 😭.
I agree with a lot on this tierlist, as it's rather in dept! However.. I do want to point out Layla, who is actually fricking incredible. Completely off-field. Massive shield and uptime. Always has ult available. Great Cryo applicator. She deserves S tier in my opinion. And also shoutout to Candace. Rather underrated I think.
I think Layla is pretty solid but I think unfortunately not a lot of teams really want her a lot. I think with Furina as well strong cryo healers like Charlotte and Mika end up being more valuable than shielders like Diona and Layla.
I don't understand the low tier for Layla, to me she's better than Diaona. Yeah she doesn't heal however her shield with like 40k HP is way stronger and has 100% uptime. Also with sac sword even if its broken you can pop it right back up making healing irrelevant on most of the teams she's used on. Also I don't see the split scaling thing, you build her for HP. That's it. The Damage done by the shield slugs is just extra. The whole kit is HP scaling.
Diona should be lower n Layla should be higher, that EM on diona is mostly useless very little chars can benefit from it n then chars like Hutao who want EM dont want that heal, while Layla has huge shield with uptime shes like budget zhongli for ppl who dont have or dont want to use him
Layla in hutao teams is far better than any other shield except zhongli.. even if she dont do much dmg her cryo application is pretty decent for vap+melt in hutao.. and she basically never let her die.. she deserves more!
me too, i think because hydro are on high demand for pyro shield, totems, elemental enemies keep appearing, and the other half is mostly single target so bennet xl core overshadowed by more single target focus comp, i think lyney 4.0 was the last time i bring national team
Makes sense honestly coz of the HP scaling they been releasing recently like Neuvilette and furina which he doesn't benefit their dmg(unless u use him for fanfare but there are better full team healers for that) and him being meh in dendro teams except if u use collei(heard that from keqingmains but don't have bennet so didn't try). Mainly only viable in vape and overloaded teams now I guess
i wonder what do they mean by except with Collei cause i tend to run bennett in a burgeon team but even then unless if it's intergrassional, i would honestly prefer yaoyao or baizhu or kirara for dendro resonance or Xingqiu+Kokomi.

Layla's whole kit literally works on two things which are to offer a 100 percent uptime of shield (FEELS LIKE ZHONGLI WITH SAC SWORD but without its pretty much still busted) and applying a decent amount of cryo from both of her elemental skill and burst. Not to mention she is still a buffer like Diona due to sword and artifact buffing weapons. How the hell Yunjin and others is near to that....when she is literally a character that gives almost universal support thru better elemental application and shield. You dont need heal when you really dont need to especially with you bearing a tough shield to break. Also Layla doesnt really suffers from energy issues much especially if your gonna include constellations lol. Your forgetting she has access to best energy recharge weapons living room for more flexibility either HP weapon + Energy Sands or Energy Wep + HP Weapon. Its not bad cause you still can cause a huge amount of energy recharge and hp given how many weapon choices she has plus how varied artifacts sets it not to mention how your likely to get HP/energy stats too lol. Layla should have been a solid S tier even just below Diona. Yanfei can't still be near to her given the fact yes Yanfei can also do buffing with TTDS but your literally her main essence which is her dmg while Layla nope its just her mere dmg that is weak her that can be ignored since its not the point she needs to feel to anyway plus if you have buffing characters like Shenhe, Kazuha or even Bennett she lose that pointless weakness....Remember characters survive and worth the best if their point is not mostly just do dmg...Making Yanfei having better commendation here than Layla is literally a sin

She isn't a good enough healer to be on a Furina team. Her dmg is very minor. Layla has 100% uptime and the 2nd strongest shield in the game. Her damage is still respectable with little investment. She makes perfect use of HoD to buff her dmg further. There's a reason that Layla is the 4* shielder on Neuv teams, and not Diona. Diona doesn't have a niche. She's just mediocre at everything.
The disrespect to Layla and Yunjin is crazy. Laylas has cryo application with her ult, has a 100% uptime on her shield, its the second strongest shield in the game second to only zhongli and is more useful than zhongli in certain teams. Just to clarify I just said she can go toe to toe with the archon of shielding. As for Yunjin, you mention swapping her for any character in a Yoimiya team loses value. This is where you are completely wrong, her buff is slightly better than Bennett for her. Stick her on 2pc husk 2pc emblem and give her the fav lance and you effectively have a Bennett for Yoimiya whilst still having a second Bennett for any other team. Besides Yunjin is also a very common pick in physical Fischl and Zhongli teams and also does a very good job in Ayato freeze, Taser and mono hydro teams.
Layla’s cryo application is kinda whatever and cryo application isn’t even that in demand. B is good for Layla shielding is just kinda whatever when furina exists (ttds Charlotte is just better). I actually tested yoi yunjin versus Bennett yoi and the numbers were actually larger with Bennett (both c6) and the attack speed of c6 barely does anything (I also tested that). Ayato yun jin is a meme it’s not good

Diona and Layla should be swapped. Layla is basically a 4 star Zhongli, while Diona does all the things you need, but not well at all. She's not the Jack of all trades. She's the Three Diamond of all trades. I have since played Diona in a proper Spiral Abyss cycle. My opinion has changed. She's worse than I thought. She's literal dogshit.
Agree with Lisa's placement though I am always wondering why people insist on using her in hyperbloom when she's clearly better in an Aggravate setup. I get that Hyperbloom is broken but why use her in a sub-optimal way? She's a good driver for Fischl's passive. All her damage is pure Electro meaning everybit of her kit can proc aggravate. Quicken teams favor those who can dish out multiple fast sources of damage and just by looking at her ult and her low cd tap skill she's meant to be in that zone not hyperbloom. Still using the same team of Lisa, Fischl, Kazuha, and Baizhu and still clearing abyss. 😅
@@27泓佑劉 On the team I mentioned she's no subdps to Fischl. If you are using and building her right she would deal just as much as a decent on-fielder in an Aggravate Setup. She's meant to make use of Fischl's A4 passive while the rest of her teammates augment her personal damage. An electro resonance to combat her energy issues, a Kazuha Swirl to for a buff with resistance shred, and a Dendro healer than can do elemental application off-field. See that? There are no redundancy in the roles they play. Compare that with Beidou whose maximum potential requires her to have 2 or more enemies present, and Razor whose best team rn requires a C6 character and his teammates are ult dependent which requires higher energy ceiling she's a much more stable unit. Now people claim them to be better than Lisa. I dunno what's up with that but I sure do see that she's no inferior to the rest of 4 star electro main dpses out there.
Prolly people have never touch Lisa because everyone say she's bad so they dont put resources in her, even though since 3.0 with the release of dendro, every electro characters have gotten big jump. I still continue doing quickswap with Lisa in quicken team.

Personally I think Layla is an S tier unit as she's incredible for shielding and extra Cryo application. This is likely biased but I love Cryo and she has helped my account so much.

@@xiahe6708 I don't use Kirara or Zhongli so I wouldn't know. From experience Diona is most useful for energy as her shield and healing are terrible. I also use Baizhu and even his shield is better than Diona.
Yes but unfortunately on-field 4*dps will always be replaced by 5*dps and never enter the game again. People always okay with 4*support but not with 4* on field dps, so their first gacha will mostly be 5*dps.
You can’t put Diona (restricted in terms of teams and not the best in any role) and Barbara (no dmg and slow attacks, stupid application, wasted burst… let’s be real, she just has a good element) in S and put THE BEST 4 STAR SHIELDER in B. Layla is literally the f2p version of Zhongli that can use the TotM BETTER and has a BETTER element than him. Her burst cost is 40, she applies well, she has noo cool-down on skill… she is very, very good, too good to be put in B. At least at the top of A or low S.
Great vid as always, thank you for your hard work! Lynette is actually better than i expected. Having a VV swirler with an aoe taunt and budget yelan speed boost is pretty nifty. Like yeah definitely use Kazuha or Sucrose over her, but still, she's awesome, and adorable!
Finally, a tier list that doesn't underestimate Barbara! It really shows that you actually have experience playing these characters instead of just following the community opinion. I don't agree with all your placements (most notably Candace, Layla and Lisa), but as a Barbara main I love this tier list!
Layla should most definitely be in A and diona in B. She has a shield almost as good as Zhongli. In some neuvillette teams, layla is a better option than Zhongli . The only 2 things holding her back is 1: little to no hp swords and 2: her cryo application is a a bit too slow. Diona is a bit weaker , not many characters would want her on the team over anything else besides ayaka/Ganyu. An even both characters have better options than diona.(Candace is also pretty soild)

My poor babygirl Kaveh ;_; I d love to see him a tier higher. Hes not great, but my spread Kaveh cleared abbyss for 36* with Fishl, Raiden and Baizhu in the team. Hes not bad!

Kaveh bloom: Kaveh Nilou Nahida Kokomi or Kaveh Nilou Furina Baizhu And my personal favourite Kaveh, Furina, Fishl, Baizhu. Kaveh build with atk and crit for spread, around 200-300 EM too. Baizhu batteries Kaveh and helps him get energy (Baizhu is on favonius book). Furina helps buff Kaveh personal damage and also provides off field DPS. Fishl, thats the MOST important part, helps Kaveh ger the spread reaction and she DOESNT TRIGGER hyperbloom cause oz is single target with very little AoE. So that means the on field blooms get popped by Kaveh rather than Fischl, which helps him utilize both him spread potential and his bloom potential. Admittedly this specific abbyss is not perfect for this team, but try it if there is ever triple maguu kenki. They literally clear triple kenki in 1 minute.
imo ningguang is a broken support for navia when you don't have zhongli, it means as a geo catalyst user she can frequently crystallise for navia's gunbrella to deal even higher dmg.
i disagree, without zhongli, just use any combinations of bennett fischl albedo xiangling or furina(with healers like charlotte) that make sense. All are better than ningguang.
Not really, If any Geo unit is best in slot.. It's Albedo who not only help make cristals but also deal quite nice DMGs, Zhongli also not much use expect providing Geo res in her team, unless you're using Serpent Spine.
I struggle with building characters well… but Layla has got to be the EASIEST character to build for me. Just focus on HP stats and ER stats and an HP or ER weapon. And she is just an amazing shield bot! AND he shield is very strong. I RARELY ever take damage. She’s such a good Zhongli alternative for new players / new accounts!
Almost no need for ER whatsoever. Her burst is just 40 energy with 100% uptime. It's crazy how she's placed so low. Put her with Tenacity, and she's goooooddd
oh yes this... 😂 the funny thing is because sucrose has always been such a strong char that initially when ppl calling kaz as a 5 star sucrose is really a compliment and makes him one of the best char in the entire game.. so being a mini kazuha is still a complement hence both sucrose and kazuha are literally broken and must haves..
Budget nilou was his purpose but hes also A dendro driver like alhaitham and can support hyperbloom kuki and burgeon thoma. He can also be a budget dps aggravate/spread. Very versatile but damn being compared to the best bloomer and ignoring other possible team comps.
Personally, I think Faruzan can be ranked in a higher tier than the other 2 niche 4 stars (gorou and sara) since you can use faruzan as a main dmg dealer with a bit of crowd control. We do have machine gun gorou but that's annoying to play with. Faruzan can be played the same way as Ganyu and do decent damage
The reason here is 5* normally takes dmg dealer role while 4* supports. Except you run a 4* only team, every 4* main dmg dealer is just being considered meme build unless your name is XL.

This guy has no idea what he's talking about. His justification of Layla in B when she outclasses almost everyone in S is insane. When you do a 5 star Tier list are you going to put Zhongli in the same tier for the same reasons? At least Layla is Cryo. But you would put Diona & Noelle on S?? I get that tier lists are never perfect, but that was just 1 of many out of touch takes. But lets still put Bennett on a pedestal even though he has little value in dendro teams, and more and more characters added that don't scale with ATK. Don't get me wrong he's still a great top tier 4 star, but people act like he's an untouchable #1 when in reality, he isn't. I guess it depends what team you use and who you need, but for me I rarely ever use him. I would rank him #3 at best. Xingqiu & Kuki are almost always on one of my Abyss teams. Idk, but I think this video could be misleading to newer players.
Candace has one really good use in Nilou bloom teams. You'd run Candace YaoYao Nilou Nahida and use YaoYao as a onfielder to apply hydro and dendro/heal simultaneously. Layla is a really good shielder with a shield that is quite near the strength of Zhongli, she works really good in Neuvillette teams since she gives interruption resistance, 1 stack for his passive and freezes which makes Neuvillette far better feeling to play. Dori can work really well in furins teams at c6 since her healing is insanely high and she can actually be quite a good battery but her c6 is really needed.
So I just wanted to point out that there is a niche use for Kaveh called Shatterbloom. There's a few videos out there but as someone who really enjoyed his character, and found that they liked his playstyle too, there's definitely some niche aspects. It takes more work than the average 4 star, but if you don't have Fischl or Kuki (cuz oh my it does happen), his burst works wonders alongside XingQiu and Chongyun.
HARD disagree on Layla shes fantastic and in freeze teams she's the ideal shielder the enemies can't move on top of the fact they literally can't even reach you but the up-time is immaculate who needs a healer when you're virtually untouchable? I sometimes stack EM on her for funsies i have her C4

Kaveh wanted to be with a pretty dancer so badly that he decided to take bloom damage to be on her team but still ended up being useless...that's a good metaphor for his life tbh. Doing the best he can, sacrificing himself, suffering, yet still failing.
Sorry, but I'd have to disagree with Layla. As someone who uses a lot of characters who doesn't want to be interrupted (Hu Tao, Ganyu, Neuvi, Wanderer, Yoi) but is getting tired of using Zhongli as a shielder because no one came close to his comfort. Layla is a real blessing, especially for Wanderer and Neuvillette who like some extra elements going on in the field. Her elemental application is amazing and she does good damage, with still better shield than diona, with a sub-dps build. Noelle has long downtime, Thoma needs stacks, diona's shield isn't that strong. Edit: Im seeing a lot of comments about Layla. It makes me happy that many knows her potential.

Whereas Layla has such a strong shield that if you don’t have Zhongli you can use Layla, she’s useful on C0 Neuvillette teams if you really want the interruption res, and Ning has just found use in Tailor Swift teams if you don’t have Zhong … yes two units replacing Zhongli but not everyone has or wants Zhongli, especially when it’s still debated whether or not Zhongli is or should be a “must pull”
just few gripes, layla and yunjin should definitely higher tier, A at least. Layla comparing on the list is more flexible and solid than heizo, chongyun, kirara. Her shield is probably the best among 4 stars and got an offield application on top off that. As for Yunjin, idk what numbers is he basing at but c6 yunjin is basically a c6 ben for NA users which we have more than anemo characters that faruzan can buff. To name a few ,noelle, ayato, yoi and wrio.
Low investment? More like c6 xingqiu and nahida or another hydro she requires a complete team sure needs a low investment on the character itself but if ur a new player getting the god hyperbloom team requires a complete team vs xiangling is better without anything

I hope Chiory becomes our first dedicated Geo healer so Itto can use Furina with Gorou for an optimal team comp. Also, I think Layla does Not need that much ER for her burst, it's like a budget Ganyu ult on a 12s cooldown, meaning her Cryo application is permanent.

Since when Charlotte deals more damage than Layla? Layla has big ass shield 2nd best in game and deals some dmg while applying a lot of Cryo and has really cheap burst. Kaveh is just a really comfy driver for Nilou blooms, especially because these teams despite of having Kokomi in it have some issues with surviving. Even though Alhaitham can be played in these teams and can deal huge dmg, he won't survive more than a couple of seconds. With Kirara you seem to forget about her C4 which is a huge upgrade and a source of off-field Dendro application, which as you said she lacks. Lynette thanks to her C6, can be played as a driver for teaser teams or aggretave teams similarly to Sucrose. Her burst gives you some atk% it also taunts and applies VV buff as well as thanks to her C2 she's quite a good source of elemental application. Since when she generates not that much energy? Her skill creates 4 particles, her C4 gives you second charge, so it's 8 and in addition to that she's usually played with ER weapon such as Fleuvre Cendre Pipe and Sacrificial Sword (12 particles and huge ER stat)
Im so glad that i just build Xinqiu and Xiangling when i started this game this year and now learning them being just the GOAT´s. It´s been such a walk in the park going through the content and just ascending every time i was able to.
I think you vastly underestimated the value of decoy that makes shielders unnecessary in most chambers. Most boss attacks can be dodged rather easily. Amber is supposed to run with cryo as the bunny can be infused with cryo. The problem is that there are only 2 characters in the game that swirl cryo at the highest priority: Traveler and Lynette. So you can actually shred cryo resistance on Thunder Manifestation or Hydro Tulpa. You just need Amber+Traveler(anemo) or Amber+Lynette. This synergy alone forced them into the same team. I think Candace have her niche to make Zhongli, Qiqi or Yaoyao into hydro attacker/driver. She enables plays that are not by character design. One thing that is easy to miss is that doing elemental damage generates energy, so fast-attacking characters benefit most from elemental infusion. It is the reason why the original national team had XQ as attacker instead of Chongyun (XQ attacks faster = more energy generated, and he doesn't break ice so XL can vape/melt from it).
You definitely build character based on your team needs if you need shield go build Layla she have strongest 4 star shield if you need good electro applicant build Kuki etc. I think this tier list good but there's some low investment character rated low here Basic formula is 1.Singular ability character is worst than More ability player for example Kujou Sara only buff and Bennett buff and heal 2.off field dps Better than only buffer for example Xingqiu is better than Candace Also consider good enablers like Kuki Shinobu is good Hyperbloom enabler In freeze team you will need good applicant like Layla is good applicant and also shielder and Kokomi is a must have for freeze you can use Diona and Xingqiu too but Diona is slow on applying cryo

Lisa hyperbloom is the abolute saviour of my no wish account and she doesn't even need c4. spam a few normals with xingqiu then her charged attack wipes all the blooms

Kinda true early in the video "I'm gonna be placing these characters as if they were at their best constellations" Faruzan's turn arrives the only complaint for her was that you need C6 and Niche can apparently "only be used with Xiao and Scaramouche" as if Heizo or C6 Kazuha didn't existed lol he kinda seems to belittle Anemo DPSs a lot too when even the actually factual team testers have proven time and time again to be units that demolish every abyss because enemies rarely have resistances to them
@@Force-Multiplier A unit that can only be used with 4 dps and usually only in 2 is niche. It's a fitting tier for Faruzan. Heizo is an underwhelming dps, and only whales buy c6 kazuha. For the general population, those two don't matter. If you have c6 Faruzan then you have Wanderer, almost guaranteed. Which is a better pick than Heizo. So for 2 main dps, that's all Faruzan is realistically going to be used for. That being said, yeah he does undervalue Xiao and Wanderer.

Personally S Tier: Charlotte down 1, Noelle down 1, Thoma debateable down A: Razor down 1, Lisa down 1, Mika and sayu debateable down B tier: Layla up 1-2, Lynette and Yun Jin debateable up, dori down 1 D tier: candace up 1
you're off base on layla. What she really does is give you cryo application, she has a very low ER requirement (which is good) you can stuff her with Tenacity, which can give a teamwide buff, she can gen cryo energy if you need to battery for someone else, combined with the fact that she has the thickest shields in the game by any character not named Zhongli. You have her rated wrong, should be on step up; she's a niche character. right now she's manning the 4th spot in my Navia team (which is running navia, furina, charlotte, and layla). The things navia need to be mostly on field dps carry are a shield so she can't be knocked around, and can get close for her shotgun. And Charlotte needs another cryo to keep her heal up enough that you can use it to feed fanfare for furnia every rotation; build her with crit rate as her second more important stat (behind hp) and you can toss Favonius sword on her to battery the whole team.

I was using Kuki as an overload trigger with XL (don't laugh, I had just started) before I got Nahida and XQ, and Kuki started hyperblooming for 30K casually

It’s mid because zhongli is extremely powerful. It’s difficult to justify leveling up a direct downgrade from a 5*. Also kirara is a more reliable 100% up time shield with a better typing and constellations.

No way Layla is Dori tier. One of the reasons why Layla is so good is the 100% uptime on her burst and shield. Plus good cryo application which is good for freeze and melt. Personally, I think Layla is A tier with the massive shield that is almost as big as Zhongli.
I still feel it's a missed opportunity that Layla should've been a Cryo catalyst. She would've been top S Tier if she was, but no they just had to give her a sword instead.

As a Layla main I am very proud to see all the comments defending her. I use her with every team that needs a shield, and prefer her over Zhongli because she shields in co-op at C-something and applies lots of cryo with both her E and her ult, both of which are up the entire time if you put her on sac sword, not even having to use any ER artifacts on her. Pretty much on point except for Layla. The girl is the best shielder in the game for non-dendro teams if you have no Zhongli. She also applies lots of cryo if you want that, and works perfectly with TotM. She deserves at least A-tier imo.

Exactly, he says she does "nothing else" but previously he was complaining that Diona isn't good for cryo application while Layla IS, her shield and burst shoots stars of cryo that basically makes enemies have perma cryo applied to them. She's arguably better than Diona in freeze teams, Diona's healing isn't even all that and a worse circle impact than Rosaria. Also Diona's shield uptime is so small and needs sac sword while Layla can battery the team with fav while not sacrificing permanent shield uptime
Dude, you clearly have not use Layla and Candace much. Candace is Pretty solid especially on higher constellations, the amount of energy and hydro application she does is bonkers (reason why a Candace Nilou Bloom is competetive or better than Yelan/XQ Variants). Layla is also the best Sub DPS shielder in the Game especially on high constellations (Yes read her constellations). It is kind of unfair considering you are considering everyones constellations but isnt considering Candace c6 or Layla c6

Eakes has played with and 36 stared the abyss with these characters . However, he was playing with lower constellations. Eakes does his research , but some of his assement is from his own personal experience. Judging the newer 4 star characters are tricky for tierlists because so many people don't have them at high constellations. So unless the character is broken at C6 like Faruzan , a lot of people don't know how solid some the other new 4 stars are at high constellations. With that I do think Laylers should had been in A tier .

If you have c2 Layla you dont need to worry about ER at all. Even with a full hp build she does quite a bit of dmg and her shield is almost as good as Zhongli. Burst duration is the same as her shield and if she has a bit of er or c2 her burst is always up when her shield is.
Also yes Freminet doesn’t do huge amounts of damage but he’s so fun to play especially with Rosaria

honestly, Layla slaps on double-hydro Hu Tao teams. hydro resonance makes her already strong shield even stronger with the HP boost, she can give useful buffs, she can enable occasional melts, and especially with constellations, she can deal pretty decent damage herself! and with Fontaine finally bringing us some HP swords that aren't Nilou's signature or Jade Cutter, she's honestly even stronger than she was on release imo.
I use her in the same exact team and i agree, she’s wonderful. By applying cryo and buffing teammates if u’re using the Tenacity set she makes Hu Tao to do BIG BIG BIG melt numbers. Also her shield is very strong, the application with burst is very good and she does not need energy recharge. Guys, her burst cost is 40! You don’t need an er weapon to make her useful. Ps. I clear the abyss and mine is lvl.60 (but Hu Tao is 90) and her weapon is a 3 star.
I use her on my hu tao team + yelan and xinqui. Layla is so good!
Even with HP/Cryo/Crit, Layla's damage is similar to Kaeya, except you also get a shield that's STILL BETTER THAN DIONA'S!

Layla is a lot more than just a Cryo shield bot. She's an amazing Cryo battery, a great Tenacity user, enables Cryo resonance super easily with how much Cryo she applies, and does very good off-field damage at high constellations. She doesn't even need a 5 star weapon either because her BiS is Harbinger of Dawn. Putting her in the same tier as Dori doesn't make sense to me.

Layla at Dori level is insane
Layla should definitely be A or S tier. If you don't have Zhongli, she is an amazing choice for a shield. With her 100% up time (with enough HP), low burst cost, and easy to farm artifacts (literally only need HP and a little ER), she is an amazing character to build if you don't have any other shield. I honestly don't know if my sister would still be playing if she didn't have Layla since she is terrible at dodging.
[Edit because I think is important] Layla doesn't need constellations to be at her best which I think is also a point in her favor. Her C2 is good, but she is still a very good character at C0.
I use my layla on hu tao team. She is the only reason my hu tao never dies
I love how the comments are defending layla, she’s my best shielder at the time when I still haven’t got my hand on Zhongli and I must say that her shield is definitely enough if you don’t just stand still and do nothing. She can always proc tenacity which is another huge upside, Zhongli can too, but I find his pillars unreliable, sometimes enemies move, sometimes the pillars get destroyed. Plus being cryo means that she can run with another cryo and in a freeze team, you would also get 15% more crit rate. Her shield performs the best at c3 and can somewhat buff (although not much) at C4 but the thing is, she works completely fine at C0, she definitely deserves a solid A tier at least imo.
I’m glad to see Layla getting a lot of love, IMO the only thing really holding her back for a lot of people is the lack of easily accessible Hp main stat swords, as of right now there’s only the limited 4* dockhands assistant and nilous signature weapon 😭
One of my favorite things to do is farming coop domains and its a freeze or melt team being used, so I sit in the middle of the mobs giving permanent cryo application and party wide shields to everyone while never moving XD

I agree with a lot on this tierlist, as it's rather in dept! However.. I do want to point out Layla, who is actually fricking incredible. Completely off-field. Massive shield and uptime. Always has ult available. Great Cryo applicator. She deserves S tier in my opinion.

I don't understand the low tier for Layla, to me she's better than Diaona. Yeah she doesn't heal however her shield with like 40k HP is way stronger and has 100% uptime. Also with sac sword even if its broken you can pop it right back up making healing irrelevant on most of the teams she's used on. Also I don't see the split scaling thing, you build her for HP. That's it. The Damage done by the shield slugs is just extra. The whole kit is HP scaling.
Layla carries my Wanderer in abyss. I mean, her shield is good but her cryo application is great. Her rank should've been higher.
Diona should be lower n Layla should be higher, that EM on diona is mostly useless very little chars can benefit from it n then chars like Hutao who want EM dont want that heal, while Layla has huge shield with uptime shes like budget zhongli for ppl who dont have or dont want to use him

Layla in hutao teams is far better than any other shield except zhongli.. even if she dont do much dmg her cryo application is pretty decent for vap+melt in hutao.. and she basically never let her die.. she deserves more!
I personally don't use bennett and xiangling that often, but xingqiu will always be in my abyss teams.

Makes sense honestly coz of the HP scaling they been releasing recently like Neuvilette and furina which he doesn't benefit their dmg(unless u use him for fanfare but there are better full team healers for that) and him being meh in dendro teams except if u use collei(heard that from keqingmains but don't have bennet so didn't try). Mainly only viable in vape and overloaded teams now I guess

Layla's whole kit literally works on two things which are to offer a 100 percent uptime of shield (FEELS LIKE ZHONGLI WITH SAC SWORD but without its pretty much still busted) and applying a decent amount of cryo from both of her elemental skill and burst. Not to mention she is still a buffer like Diona due to sword and artifact buffing weapons. How the hell Yunjin and others is near to that....when she is literally a character that gives almost universal support thru better elemental application and shield. You dont need heal when you really dont need to especially with you bearing a tough shield to break. Also Layla doesnt really suffers from energy issues much especially if your gonna include constellations lol. Your forgetting she has access to best energy recharge weapons living room for more flexibility either HP weapon + Energy Sands or Energy Wep + HP Weapon. Its not bad cause you still can cause a huge amount of energy recharge and hp given how many weapon choices she has plus how varied artifacts sets it not to mention how your likely to get HP/energy stats too lol. Layla should have been a solid S tier even just below Diona. Yanfei can't still be near to her given the fact yes Yanfei can also do buffing with TTDS but your literally her main essence which is her dmg while Layla nope its just her mere dmg that is weak her that can be ignored since its not the point she needs to feel to anyway plus if you have buffing characters like Shenhe, Kazuha or even Bennett she lose that pointless weakness....Remember characters survive and worth the best if their point is not mostly just do dmg...Making Yanfei having better commendation here than Layla is literally a sin

Layla has 100% uptime and the 2nd strongest shield in the game. Her damage is still respectable with little investment. She makes perfect use of HoD to buff her dmg further.

Laylas has cryo application with her ult, has a 100% uptime on her shield, its the second strongest shield in the game second to only zhongli and is more useful than zhongli in certain teams. Just to clarify I just said she can go toe to toe with the archon of shielding.
As for Yunjin, you mention swapping her for any character in a Yoimiya team loses value. This is where you are completely wrong, her buff is slightly better than Bennett for her. Stick her on 2pc husk 2pc emblem and give her the fav lance and you effectively have a Bennett for Yoimiya whilst still having a second Bennett for any other team. Besides Yunjin is also a very common pick in physical Fischl and Zhongli teams and also does a very good job in Ayato freeze, Taser and mono hydro teams.
Layla’s cryo application is kinda whatever and cryo application isn’t even that in demand. B is good for Layla shielding is just kinda whatever when furina exists (ttds Charlotte is just better). I actually tested yoi yunjin versus Bennett yoi and the numbers were actually larger with Bennett (both c6) and the attack speed of c6 barely does anything (I also tested that). Ayato yun jin is a meme it’s not good

Diona and Layla should be swapped. Layla is basically a 4 star Zhongli, while Diona does all the things you need, but not well at all. She's not the Jack of all trades. She's the Three Diamond of all trades.
I have since played Diona in a proper Spiral Abyss cycle. My opinion has changed. She's worse than I thought. She's literal dogshit.

Agree with Lisa's placement though I am always wondering why people insist on using her in hyperbloom when she's clearly better in an Aggravate setup. I get that Hyperbloom is broken but why use her in a sub-optimal way? She's a good driver for Fischl's passive. All her damage is pure Electro meaning everybit of her kit can proc aggravate. Quicken teams favor those who can dish out multiple fast sources of damage and just by looking at her ult and her low cd tap skill she's meant to be in that zone not hyperbloom. Still using the same team of Lisa, Fischl, Kazuha, and Baizhu and still clearing abyss. 😅
She feels redundant as a sub dps to fischl, and her on field damage is relatively low.
@@27泓佑劉 On the team I mentioned she's no subdps to Fischl. If you are using and building her right she would deal just as much as a decent on-fielder in an Aggravate Setup. She's meant to make use of Fischl's A4 passive while the rest of her teammates augment her personal damage. An electro resonance to combat her energy issues, a Kazuha Swirl to for a buff with resistance shred, and a Dendro healer than can do elemental application off-field. See that? There are no redundancy in the roles they play.
Compare that with Beidou whose maximum potential requires her to have 2 or more enemies present, and Razor whose best team rn requires a C6 character and his teammates are ult dependent which requires higher energy ceiling she's a much more stable unit. Now people claim them to be better than Lisa. I dunno what's up with that but I sure do see that she's no inferior to the rest of 4 star electro main dpses out there.
Prolly people have never touch Lisa because everyone say she's bad so they dont put resources in her, even though since 3.0 with the release of dendro, every electro characters have gotten big jump.

Personally I think Layla is an S tier unit as she's incredible for shielding and extra Cryo application. This is likely biased but I love Cryo and she has helped my account so much.

Yes but unfortunately on-field 4*dps will always be replaced by 5*dps and never enter the game again. People always okay with 4*support but not with 4* on field dps, so their first gacha will mostly be 5*dps.
You can’t put Diona (restricted in terms of teams and not the best in any role) and Barbara (no dmg and slow attacks, stupid application, wasted burst… let’s be real, she just has a good element) in S and put THE BEST 4 STAR SHIELDER in B. Layla is literally the f2p version of Zhongli that can use the TotM BETTER and has a BETTER element than him. Her burst cost is 40, she applies well, she has noo cool-down on skill… she is very, very good, too good to be put in B. At least at the top of A or low S.

Lynette is actually better than i expected. Having a VV swirler with an aoe taunt and budget yelan speed boost is pretty nifty. Like yeah definitely use Kazuha or Sucrose over her, but still, she's awesome, and adorable!
Finally, a tier list that doesn't underestimate Barbara! It really shows that you actually have experience playing these characters instead of just following the community opinion.
I don't agree with all your placements (most notably Candace, Layla and Lisa), but as a Barbara main I love this tier list!
Layla should most definitely be in A and diona in B. She has a shield almost as good as Zhongli. In some neuvillette teams, layla is a better option than Zhongli . The only 2 things holding her back is 1: little to no hp swords and 2: her cryo application is a a bit too slow. Diona is a bit weaker , not many characters would want her on the team over anything else besides ayaka/Ganyu. An even both characters have better options than diona.(Candace is also pretty soild)
i have c6 diona and c1 layla and i still find layla more usefull

My poor babygirl Kaveh ;_; I d love to see him a tier higher. Hes not great, but my spread Kaveh cleared abbyss for 36* with Fishl, Raiden and Baizhu in the team. Hes not bad!

Kaveh build with atk and crit for spread, around 200-300 EM too. Baizhu batteries Kaveh and helps him get energy (Baizhu is on favonius book). Furina helps buff Kaveh personal damage and also provides off field DPS. Fishl, thats the MOST important part, helps Kaveh ger the spread reaction and she DOESNT TRIGGER hyperbloom cause oz is single target with very little AoE. So that means the on field blooms get popped by Kaveh rather than Fischl, which helps him utilize both him spread potential and his bloom potential.
Admittedly this specific abbyss is not perfect for this team, but try it if there is ever triple maguu kenki. They literally clear triple kenki in 1 minute.
imo ningguang is a broken support for navia when you don't have zhongli, it means as a geo catalyst user she can frequently crystallise for navia's gunbrella to deal even higher dmg.
yeah, give her the thrilling dragons and with her curtains, that some power boost to Navia

i disagree, without zhongli, just use any combinations of bennett fischl albedo xiangling or furina(with healers like charlotte) that make sense. All are better than ningguang.
Not really, If any Geo unit is best in slot.. It's Albedo who not only help make cristals but also deal quite nice DMGs, Zhongli also not much use expect providing Geo res in her team, unless you're using Serpent Spine.
I struggle with building characters well… but Layla has got to be the EASIEST character to build for me.
Just focus on HP stats and ER stats and an HP or ER weapon. And she is just an amazing shield bot! AND he shield is very strong. I RARELY ever take damage. She’s such a good Zhongli alternative for new players / new accounts!

Personally, I think Faruzan can be ranked in a higher tier than the other 2 niche 4 stars (gorou and sara) since you can use faruzan as a main dmg dealer with a bit of crowd control. We do have machine gun gorou but that's annoying to play with. Faruzan can be played the same way as Ganyu and do decent damage
The reason here is 5* normally takes dmg dealer role while 4* supports. Except you run a 4* only team, every 4* main dmg dealer is just being considered meme build unless your name is XL.

I get that tier lists are never perfect, but that was just 1 of many out of touch takes. But lets still put Bennett on a pedestal even though he has little value in dendro teams, and more and more characters added that don't scale with ATK. Don't get me wrong he's still a great top tier 4 star, but people act like he's an untouchable #1 when in reality, he isn't. I guess it depends what team you use and who you need, but for me I rarely ever use him. I would rank him #3 at best. Xingqiu & Kuki are almost always on one of my Abyss teams.

Candace has one really good use in Nilou bloom teams. You'd run Candace YaoYao Nilou Nahida and use YaoYao as a onfielder to apply hydro and dendro/heal simultaneously.
Layla is a really good shielder with a shield that is quite near the strength of Zhongli, she works really good in Neuvillette teams since she gives interruption resistance, 1 stack for his passive and freezes which makes Neuvillette far better feeling to play.
Dori can work really well in furins teams at c6 since her healing is insanely high and she can actually be quite a good battery but her c6 is really needed.
Razor shouldn't be in A if he's only good for one specific team comp tho... Should be B and bring Layla up to lower A atleast
So I just wanted to point out that there is a niche use for Kaveh called Shatterbloom. There's a few videos out there but as someone who really enjoyed his character, and found that they liked his playstyle too, there's definitely some niche aspects. It takes more work than the average 4 star, but if you don't have Fischl or Kuki (cuz oh my it does happen), his burst works wonders alongside XingQiu and Chongyun.

Sorry, but I'd have to disagree with Layla. As someone who uses a lot of characters who doesn't want to be interrupted (Hu Tao, Ganyu, Neuvi, Wanderer, Yoi) but is getting tired of using Zhongli as a shielder because no one came close to his comfort. Layla is a real blessing, especially for Wanderer and Neuvillette who like some extra elements going on in the field. Her elemental application is amazing and she does good damage, with still better shield than diona, with a sub-dps build. Noelle has long downtime, Thoma needs stacks, diona's shield isn't that strong.
Edit: Im seeing a lot of comments about Layla. It makes me happy that many knows her potential.
Ain’t no way he put Dori above Candace and in the same tier as Layla and Ning? Invested Candace can be a sidegrade in Nilou teams, she’s for sure aight, Dori hardly even has a niche, can’t think of a single team where you would want a Dori? Whereas Layla has such a strong shield that if you don’t have Zhongli you can use Layla, she’s useful on C0 Neuvillette teams if you really want the interruption res, and Ning has just found use in Tailor Swift teams if you don’t have Zhong … yes two units replacing Zhongli but not everyone has or wants Zhongli, especially when it’s still debated whether or not Zhongli is or should be a “must pull”

Layla comparing on the list is more flexible and solid than heizo, chongyun, kirara. Her shield is probably the best among 4 stars and got an offield application on top off that.
As for Yunjin, idk what numbers is he basing at but c6 yunjin is basically a c6 ben for NA users which we have more than anemo characters that faruzan can buff. To name a few ,noelle, ayato, yoi and wrio.

I watching this video now because I recently found you. I feel like Barbara is underestimated because she is hydro which is one of the best element, catalyst user so she can use thrilling tale, and a healer.
I hope Chiory becomes our first dedicated Geo healer so Itto can use Furina with Gorou for an optimal team comp. Also, I think Layla does Not need that much ER for her burst, it's like a budget Ganyu ult on a 12s cooldown, meaning her Cryo application is permanent.

Since when Charlotte deals more damage than Layla? Layla has big ass shield 2nd best in game and deals some dmg while applying a lot of Cryo and has really cheap burst.
Kaveh is just a really comfy driver for Nilou blooms, especially because these teams despite of having Kokomi in it have some issues with surviving. Even though Alhaitham can be played in these teams and can deal huge dmg, he won't survive more than a couple of seconds.
With Kirara you seem to forget about her C4 which is a huge upgrade and a source of off-field Dendro application, which as you said she lacks.
Lynette thanks to her C6, can be played as a driver for teaser teams or aggretave teams similarly to Sucrose. Her burst gives you some atk% it also taunts and applies VV buff as well as thanks to her C2 she's quite a good source of elemental application. Since when she generates not that much energy? Her skill creates 4 particles, her C4 gives you second charge, so it's 8 and in addition to that she's usually played with ER weapon such as Fleuvre Cendre Pipe and Sacrificial Sword (12 particles and huge ER stat)

Im so glad that i just build Xinqiu and Xiangling when i started this game this year and now learning them being just the GOAT´s.
It´s been such a walk in the park going through the content and just ascending every time i was able to.
I knew Fischl would be s+ and I smiled knowing that I pulled Elegy for the end for my favourite 4 star. Maybe I'll try to bring her Yoimiya's bow too.
elegy is probably one of the strongest support weapons in the game.
I think you vastly underestimated the value of decoy that makes shielders unnecessary in most chambers. Most boss attacks can be dodged rather easily.
Amber is supposed to run with cryo as the bunny can be infused with cryo. The problem is that there are only 2 characters in the game that swirl cryo at the highest priority: Traveler and Lynette.
So you can actually shred cryo resistance on Thunder Manifestation or Hydro Tulpa. You just need Amber+Traveler(anemo) or Amber+Lynette.
This synergy alone forced them into the same team.
I think Candace have her niche to make Zhongli, Qiqi or Yaoyao into hydro attacker/driver. She enables plays that are not by character design. One thing that is easy to miss is that doing elemental damage generates energy, so fast-attacking characters benefit most from elemental infusion. It is the reason why the original national team had XQ as attacker instead of Chongyun (XQ attacks faster = more energy generated, and he doesn't break ice so XL can vape/melt from it).

You definitely build character based on your team needs if you need shield go build Layla she have strongest 4 star shield if you need good electro applicant build Kuki etc.
I think this tier list good but there's some low investment character rated low here
Basic formula is
1.Singular ability character is worst than More ability player for example Kujou Sara only buff and Bennett buff and heal
2.off field dps Better than only buffer for example Xingqiu is better than Candace
Also consider good enablers like Kuki Shinobu is good Hyperbloom enabler
In freeze team you will need good applicant like Layla is good applicant and also shielder and Kokomi is a must have for freeze you can use Diona and Xingqiu too but Diona is slow on applying cryo
Also 100% uptime and No ICD is really important

Lisa hyperbloom is the abolute saviour of my no wish account and she doesn't even need c4. spam a few normals with xingqiu then her charged attack wipes all the blooms

@@Force-Multiplier A unit that can only be used with 4 dps and usually only in 2 is niche. It's a fitting tier for Faruzan. Heizo is an underwhelming dps, and only whales buy c6 kazuha. For the general population, those two don't matter. If you have c6 Faruzan then you have Wanderer, almost guaranteed. Which is a better pick than Heizo. So for 2 main dps, that's all Faruzan is realistically going to be used for.
That being said, yeah he does undervalue Xiao and Wanderer.
Some things i may not completely agree with but overall solid list and i think almost no one will contend the s+ tier.

you're off base on layla. What she really does is give you cryo application, she has a very low ER requirement (which is good) you can stuff her with Tenacity, which can give a teamwide buff, she can gen cryo energy if you need to battery for someone else, combined with the fact that she has the thickest shields in the game by any character not named Zhongli.
You have her rated wrong, should be on step up; she's a niche character. right now she's manning the 4th spot in my Navia team (which is running navia, furina, charlotte, and layla). The things navia need to be mostly on field dps carry are a shield so she can't be knocked around, and can get close for her shotgun. And Charlotte needs another cryo to keep her heal up enough that you can use it to feed fanfare for furnia every rotation; build her with crit rate as her second more important stat (behind hp) and you can toss Favonius sword on her to battery the whole team.
