    For a big apocalypse game or some special event you guys should bring back the floating cloud base, the coastal map you made for the kaiju game and this underwater setup and have rules to let units transfer between the 3 boards. Would be a pain to run but would be cool if you could pull something like that off!

    • @matthewrayner571

      They'd be three different altitudes! Like anything with FLY can use all their movement to go down or up one altitude, and things without FLY must use an action to change altitude.

    • @conkerj1
      @conkerj1 3 роки тому +3

      This would be absolutely amazing! You could create objectives to tie them all together and as Matthew said, alter how different models can traverse the boards. For example Flyers can traverse freely, but have an objective in the underwater base that the attackers must capture, BUT, the only way for ground units to go underwater is for them to capture and enter a giant lift system on the 'Land' board that would be heavily defended. I think it would make for some really thematic battles.

      I think on a nother Channal they did something simular. There was a realspace-table and a warb-table and the portals to get from one table to the other changed every round or where random. It was a Tyranid ( Hiveflat Kronos) vs Demon (Chaos Undevided) battle.

    • @RunAzazelRun

      @@draumrsundavar6604 yeah that was miniwargaming a few years back but it was kinda just two separate boards that had nothing to do with each other. Something like this would be more like a fight at every level across a single planet

    IMO you guys absolutely have the best 40k content available on the internet, not just UA-cam. You make content that reminds me of why we all started playing in the first place... How damn fun it is. There is so much negative energy in the hobby, and people focus on the bad way too much while you guys do the opposite. You literally just try to make the games as fun and as awesome as possible. Mix that with top notch cinema style B roll, smooth animations, great audio quality, well written scripts and the list goes on and on. It's amazing here so I want to say thank you!

    Other Nick here (Space Wolf Nick?), and wanted to toss my thoughts in since I got to play on this awesome table!
    First off, this is definitely the most cinematic table I've ever played on. The PlayOn team did an amazing job, watching their vision come to life was pretty inspiring. The big domes added both character and interesting fire lanes, the leviathan and fish were cool and impactful, and Tycho's backdrop was gorgeous!
    If you wanted to re-create something like this (and I hope people do!) there are two things that I'd point out from a game-play point of view:
    1. The sloped dome sides can be tough for movement. It's the age-old problem of models on sloped terrain... but I think the cinematic value, beautiful set pieces, and great fire-lanes definitely out-weighed that challenge here.
    2. I have yet to play/see a game where verticality is super important and used well by both players. This may be a function of 40k rules in general, or how armies play, etc. If people have examples of verticality being both important and equally impactful for both players, please let me know! (I've got visions of those old vertical Inquisimunda-type games as the pinnacle of this...)
    Overall though, another killer table and amazing game. The PlayOn team is second to none for a reason.

I will be playing mostly OnePageRules Grimdark setting myself but I like the old flavour of stuff back then. WIll be making Chaos inspired stuff. All or mostly 3D printed all from Paterons or CGTrader, losts of modular stuff. It will take a long time to paint but it will be epic. Have some guard type stuff in mind, working on backstories for them within OPR :-)

    For a while, I've had this idea for a D&D campaign set entirely underwater. The PCs would all be from amphibious races (Triton, Merfolk, Simic Hybrids, Sea Elves, and custom races and subraces). It would be them adventuring in a section of the sea ravaged by ancient disaster, its undersea kingdoms left in ruin, its waters and seabed and deep caverns infested by monsters. A classic D&D set up of a post-apocalyptic wilderness, just underwater.
    Every time I see something like this, it makes me want to run that campaign all the more.
    I mean, looking at this terrain also kind of makes me want to build an Imperial Guard army of soldiers wearing helmets and airtanks. Both for undersea games, and for deep space fighting. Wargames Atlantic have come out with their "Cannon Fodder" box set, which has helmets as one of their head options. I've been thinking of using the Cannon Fodder to make a Guard army. Maybe a few squads equipped to deal with hazardous environments wouldn't go amiss. Or their own detachment. Could be fun.

    • @PlayOnTabletop
      @PlayOnTabletop  2 роки тому

      Tycho here. Use a bigger brush! The secret to doing terrain is to plan your process to match your desired outcome. I think structure, form, and surface as the major problems I need to solve. With the right tools even the biggest sets we have made were not crazy time consuming to make. Weellll most of the time. Sometimes experiments fail and processes take longer than anticipated. In general I recommend hot glue, natural grit, and rattle cans of contrasting neutral colours. Mix those up with some non biodegradable garbage,
      sprinkle on some inspiration and elbow grease and great results will follow.

    Have you considered putting GoPro's into large terrain elements? That could give you more freedom for placement of large line of sight blocking terrain elements as you have a camera angles that than "see" out the other side. The cameras are small enough that they can easily be hidden. Plus they ludicrous some other overusing options like fire from the troops eye level. Or a civilian's view from their hiding spot.

    • @PlayOnTabletop
      @PlayOnTabletop  2 роки тому +1

      Planning things out is important, vision boards and sketches keep the build on track. Our tables are standard (often minimum) size, not everything we build is meant to interact with the game. Backdrop and set dressing pieces are great for immersion. Warhammer in general is more interesting with lots of terrain especially a line of sight blocking big something in the middle.

    I have been having a Nick moment recently. Similar to him and Tau and his switch to GSC, I love me my Imperial Guard, but up against my friends Thousand Sons, Grey Knights, Necron, and Death Guard, I have had to step back into a more competitive army. I have been building up my Space Marines instead, waiting for the time when my Guardsmen are viable again.

    Manatees, that’s perfect for the Tau, at least for the underwater fight. But no, they aren’t fish people, they are blue communist space cows.
