A guy at my game store has his specific guard army, we legit play sometimes and he uses a custom regiment that is literally just Dakka Dakka Dakka. It’s so funny to see a leman Russ shoot more off 6s lol

This army is so freakin' cool! As soon as I saw that Shadowsword, it reminded me of the novel "Baneblade" by Guy Haley.
Imagine being a guardsman and seeing that force in the distance, getting happy to being receiving reinforcements, then them getting closer and realising it's a bunch of grots XD

I've been saying for awhile it'd be cool if a particularly clever orc warboss noticed just how strong space marines are and started their own chapter, gaining tons of strength because they believe they are generically augmented. I'm so on board for this army! Fantastic execution to.

i really feel that this is what 40k is about , he legit has had soo much fun building , painting , and creating lore for his force tbh this is the hooks that pulled me into 40k in the first place

Seeing this Grot Guard gives me more inspiration to continue on with my custom Sisters of Battle order the Sisterhood of the Wolf, using a lot of Space Wolf bits, green stuff and molding.
I wanna see this army fight Tanya Gates’ army and have them role play interactions between them.

every time i'm asked what i want to see next in 40k my answer is always "expanded grot options in 40k to be on par with grots in WFB or AoS". there's so much space to work in, and i feel like people would go mad for properly fleshed out 40k grot armies

Technically he doesn't either. He said this was made out of Blood Bowl grots and AoS dwarves.
I think the best part is that this is applicable to canon lore, and doesn't break it

Not gonna lie being someone who is very new to war hammer I thought the grot guard was an actual faction with official models and everything
Matthew made them look that good so can't blame you for thinking that.
As a fan of zany and unorthodox conversions and armies this stuff really speaks to me! Converting models and making them your own, complete with your own lore and everything is the creative soul of this hobby.

I am tempted to make a GrotGuard for years. This army is a perfect example of how to make a count as Army that is still mostly WYSIWYG for the Opponent.
The best counts as shouldn’t require too much thought when playing against! (Tired grammar...)

Not an Ork fan at all, but that army is amazing! At of all the armies in 40K, Orks are probably the army that I'd least like to collect, but Ork players are the most fun to play against. True labor of love

This is perhaps my favorite army I've seen in the entire time I've watched, played and read Warhammer 40k. Stuff like this is so fun to see, and breathes life into the game. There's lots of GORGEOUS armies that appear here on Play On Tabletop, but I think this is perhaps my no. 1 favorite. I love the story too, and the callback to 2nd edition. As a newer warhammer fan, it's always nice to see references to materials I haven't personally been exposed too, yet.
Absolutely fantastic army! This is what it's all about just having fun with the hobby, it's just an added bonus that it's a playable army.

I am actually really blown away buy this. It's amazing, beautiful, and fun. The lore is perfect too! Imagining these little guys being so serious about the duty to the emperor is great!
Well if his goal was to spark joy he certainly succeded. Not just his army, his general demenour seems absolutely lovely. Best of luck to him with his future armies, I know I'll love to see them.

Oh maaaan... I getting flashbacks to the one tournament army I had - Blood-Axe Orks based in 1950's Russians - The 1st Mota-riflez ov da 1st Gran Army ov da WAAAGH - Led by the 'Grand Komissar fer WAAAGH' himself: Iagrof Snarlin
I had a 'looted Chimera' as a command tank (this was back when the 'looted vehicle' rule alowed you to pick specific vehicles as their basis), and I bought a WW2 Tiger kit that I converted to be a "full" Battletank/wagon (I *think* I rulesed it as a Lotted Leman-Russ). I do SO MUCH conversion work - Iagrof was converted from a metal 'Warboss' figure, but I put him in a full (sleeveless) Greatcoat plus fancy 'officers cap', with a Power-claw hand and a bunch of little stuff all over. Then there was my Commando squad who all got red berets (Because red wunz go fasta - And if yer hat is red den dat meenz ya THINK fasta too!).
