Wouldn't live there year round (or in Florida for that matter), but we have vacationed on Casey Key in Nokomis many times. If you like a quiet, uncrowded beach (except in the public beach area on weekends), this is the place. Think "old Florida" with no big magnets for crowds of tourists (the opposite of a place like Clearwater beach). If you want that, 5 minute drive south to Venice.

When considering moving someplace you shouldn’t look only within the borders of a specific town. You look at the whole area, what you can get to and experience, regardless of the name of the city each destination resides within. Nokomis is well situated to enjoy much of what’s in the whole area, from Bradenton all the way down to Gasparilla Island.

We couldn't agree more. Nokomis is extremely underrated, simply because it doesn't have the name recognition of other areas, but it's positioned right in between a lot of the new "hot spots".

I live on Bayshore in Laurel but it is a Nokomis address on my driver's license.
