Not sure one buys Harley Benton for its pickups. I have HB's with both Tesla and Roswell . Don't have problems with either. BUT, the "beauty" of Harley Benton , is that its BONES, are good enough, so that one can replace pickups, pots and switches with whatever you like. Perhaps even double the cost of the guitar with chosen upgrades. And still have a guitar that plays , or outplays brands G & F and P for a fraction of the cost...
People are not buying Harley Bentons for their pickups, but some people enjoy these pickups and don't replace them. Other people don't have enough money to replace pickups and pots and tuners and so on. But I agree that the main asset of a Harley Benton is generally not the pickup set.
I’m not using any modeller and my PRS MT-15 doesn’t sound vintage. But this vintage type of sound I was hearing while playing does barely exist in the video
Sorry, I'm pretty sure I bought the last Purple burst guitar. Still waiting for it to arrive but it should be any day now. How do you like these Tesla pickups compared to the SC 550 II?
I prefer the Teslas on the SC 550 II especially for the clean tones, they're special, when I play arpeggios it almost sound like a piano. For hi gain tones, the SC 550 II sound even more vintage, with very low mids and not a lot of bottom end, but that might be due to the chambered body of this guitar.
@@ToroKchannel Hey thank you for your help. I also have an SC 550 II. I like the Tesla pickups. I had never heard of Tesla pickups until HB started using them. Anyway, thanks again, I appreciate your time.
Hi mate. Nice review 👍. Can you give me a sugestion?. I need a guitar to Record Punk/Metal songs, i loved the design of Harley Benton SC1000 Progressive Line for 195€ and has good reviews, but now that i saw about the SC Custom 3 for 295€, i don't know which one to pick. Is it better the Sc1000 or the Custom 3 for 100€ more?. And if the answer is the custom 3, better the active or passive version?.
Hi man ! I don't wanna spoil my next video but the SC Custom III active is way better than the SC 1000 and, speaking about tone, for punk/metal music, you should fall in love with it. I will release the review video of this SC Custom III active on sunday, then you will realize by yourself ;)
@@ToroKchannel Hi man! I understand that and i will be awaiting for your next video then 😊. One thing is for sure, SC1000 is out of my mind now 😅, now to see SC Custom 3 Passive vs Active. Hopefully i will fall in love with that guitar for Punk/Metal like you say, i already love it's design 👍. Thanks for answering man, really helpful 😊💪
Great review as usual! I'm glad I got a SC custom II with Roswell PUs as I too prefere those. Let us know if you get some info on why they completely switched to Tesla (and if they intend to only use Tesla PUs from now on with every new model).
Nice review. The Roswell of SC Custom II sound better under high distortion to me than the new Tesla of SC Custom III aside from this I'll choose the new Custom III. Personally I'm very tempted by the FR version unfortunately from the 299 euro of first version (Sc Custom I) now It reaches 455 Euro! Please review also the SC Custom III FR !
Thanks ! If I remember well, the first SC Custom were around 200 but they were far from as good as the custom II or III. 455€ is an interesting price for a guitar that looks cool and comes with a FR 1000. I will try and review it as soon as I can, I wonder how good the tuning stability is :)
Hopefully I’ll get a hand on mine soon and might post a couple videos. I ordered on 7/16 and was told I’d have to wait 5-7 weeks. Seems like no one has received their Custom 3 FR yet!
I bought SC-Custom III FR VBK. Tuning stability is perfect. But I would like a lower string action. If drop the strings lower, then floyd may hit the body during a strong rise. I'll probably have to take it to a specialist to have the seat for the floyd milled deeper.
I would recommend both, they are excellent guitars. If you want a brighter and more agressive sound, you should enjoy the Roswell pickups on the CST-24.
The neck shape is the same, the balance of the guitar on your lap or standing is as good the the Custom as on the 550, but the tuning stability might ba a tiny bit better on the Custom. Now, in terms of tone, they are very different. I love how deep and dark the cleans are the the SC 550, that's a pretty unique sound. The SC-550 II is ok on cleans but doesn't have that much low end. On high gain on the bridge PU, the 550 has a rock tone, a lot of low mids, not a lot of bass. The Custom has more low end and sounds a bit vintage, really make me think of some 80's Saxon / Def Leppard tone. Now I can't say one is better than the other.
Hi, did you find out the weight of your particular guitar? Thanks :-) Maybe anyone else, if you could share this info if it is about 3,3 kg or rather on the heavier side..
I purchased a SC Custom iii, and can confirm that it has an ABS nut, despite the description online saying it had a graphite nut when i purchased it. I even checked with Thoman as well before I ordered, and they said ABS.
@@ToroKchannelthanks for the reply. In terms of output, are the active alnico 5 teslas comparable to ceramic humbuckers? I am searching a guitar for nu Metal :)

Hi guys! Found this through ToroK's review on thomann lol

I got the VBK version but I sent it back because the 4th fret was bad. Other than that it was a beautiful guitar.
i think the wintage sound is comming mostly from the modeller preset ;D

I don't know if it was intentional but I'm having 1980's Def Leppard flashbacks 🙂
It was not, but maybe I should go back to Def Leppards :) Is there a song or an album in particular my demo track makes you think about ?
Very nice. I wish HB would go back to the old ocean blue flame. It was more blue than green. Thanks for the review.
Thanks ! In time, I've seen several colors called "ocean flame" with Harley Benton, but I also wish it was more blue than green :)

Is the nut graphite or plastic because they have updated the description but had it listen as plastic for some time
Here in France, the description still says ABS platic. And that'snot a graphite nut for sure.
Hi, did you find out the weight of your particular guitar? Thanks :-) Maybe anyone else, if you could share this info if it is about 3,3 kg or rather on the heavier side..
This one is 3,320 kgs to be accurate :)
looks like HB listened. the description updated to graphite nut
Well, they might have listened, but on the french desciption, it's still ABS plastic nut. Same thing on Harley Benton's website.

Which Tuqs GraphTech model would be the most appropriate for the Custom III?
Is there any way to buy from Latin America? I am from the Dominican Republic and I would like to buy!
Thomann will ship whatever you wanna buy to Dominican Republic. They say it costs 70€ and takes 10-17 days.
They just dropped the sc custom II, was gonna get the satin one.. Feels like a steal to be forced to pay more for a sc custom III instead a the II :/
