I am always amazed by your guitar playing and your virtuosity on the fretboard! It's a real pleasure to listen to you! Thank you for your wonderful tutorials!
Well Firefly from Guitarsgarden are our preferred choice here in old USA haha. Too much darn shipping charges from Thomman to the USA on Harley Bentons otherwise I would pull the trigger.
Your melodic playing reminds me of Rock'n'roll Animal,of Lou Reed 's guitarists on this great album,Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner.Even the sound, because they played Les Paul Special with P90s.Congrats for your playing .
Jon, thanks !! One normally would expect more of a raw sound with the P90's. That HB is smooth and creamy, you got such great tone out of that guitar. Ex video!
Good evening dear Jon, Great P90 guitar from Thomann at a very reasonable price. It is basically a novelty, solid materials and workmanship. A very good choice for fans of the reviewed model and given configuration. Very nice review. Greetings Pavel CZ.👍👍👍
I modified my SC Custom II with the pus from PRS Chris Rpbertson special - which means A P90 in the neck position and a 57/08 "s" in the bridge, kind of a PAF style humbucker with excellent coil splitting. And with two very distinct pick ups it is more the switch that is unnecessary and the two volume knobs are pure gold. I can perfectly and seamlessly mix the P90s base with the crystal clear heights from the humbucker. Actually now I wish I had the Les Paul style separated tone selectors as well ;-) But I could get rid of the switch altogether. It is nice to see so many small improvements on the guitar. Since so many changed the nice and warm but somewhat weak Roswell humbuckers they installed hotter Teslas (or in this case, optional P90s), the jack is in a better position (I hardly can play the Custom II sitting all that long because it presses so hard into my leg). Many other small details as well. And they started to use stainless steel frets. For now I'm still happy with mine, but I will keep a close eye on Harley Bentons custom line.
Two of my favorite guitars have P90s. One is a HB the other is a Squire. I enjoy the tones. HB changed the fret material on this model. In piano black, this is a very elegant guitar. Thanks for sharing.👍☕
Nice looking and sounds great, Jon and yes black is a nice color choice for this Les Paul style body- love my black Les Paul as well. You have some nice reviews and I really enjoy your playing! 🎸👍❤️🙏
I really enjoy these video's, such skilled playing. Jon your left hand vibrato is awesome, your bends are magical. I don't watch so much for the guitar review but to hear what you do with them.
Thanks for sharing A few months ago I decided to try the Harley Benton guitars and bought 2 guitars one Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG FR VBK for 461.34 Euros and one Harley Benton Fusion-III HH FR Roasted FBB for 377.31 Euros The SC-Custom single cut is amazing 10/10 you can set it down for weeks and pick it up and it always stay in perfect tune beautiful guitar the Fusion-III is just ok I'm not crazy about the Roswell HAF-B AlNiCo-5 pickups the roasted maple neck is nice as well as the body 6/10 Very surprised though nice guitars
I think I will have to try one of these, I have the original SC-Custom and love it, I changed the pickups for Fluence pickups on it and had the back routed for the battery compartment, I also changed out the wiring, pots and switch, Its a favourite of mine! I have seen the active version of this MKIII but never knew they had a P90 version, I hope they have it in the same white colour as the MKI!
I really enjoyed the intro Jon. You have such amazing control 👍😃 That’s one awesome axe and that black is just gorgeous. The tone is just spot on for a P90. I’ve found that decent copper shielding has helped reduce the hum significantly on my P90 guitars. Excellent video as usual Jon 😃🙏👍❤️
OK ... I was able to confirm from Thomann Customer Relations ... That the P90 pickups are wired RWRP... to allow noise cancellation in the middle position ...
Yeah, I agree the output is just right for the P90 sound somewhere around medium. If you are a fan of the P90 this is very nice looking guitar and sounds pretty good as well. I will always use a noise gate with a P90, they all tend to be noisy. Never tried the other way, I might do that in the future.
Always love the middle position with the bridge a bit slide of. This Amazing Axe is a Amazing Grace, ever so lovely from Harley Benton, High End, Low Price. How do they do it, witchcraft?🤔 Love your playing, like always, mr. StringsWizzard👌🤭😉 p.s., Just thinkin', what if ... Harley Benton would make a SC-500 HB(Hollow Body) model 🤗 God Bless🙏
Thanks Jon! Can't say I'm a convert... 😅 Truth be known I am waiting for a Fusion 4, may be with a through neck, HSH, non-floyd trem and locking tuners, priced at around their Amarocks. Who knows, may be Fusion 5 will have those features 😂
I love this guitar, and I want one. Probably January or February. About the logo on the headstock... You're obviously not versed in Germanic and Norse mythology. This symbol is three copies of the Othala rune from the Elder Futhark, one of several variants of the Runes, overlapping each other. The Othala rune represents home or homestead. Not necessarily a house, but ancestral home. Alternatively, it signifies what home means to you as an individual and/or as a spiritual warrior. Hope this helps your understanding of the instrument, and since the Harley Bentons are built in Germany, well, do the math. - LOL
Great as always. I wanted to ask you, although I know it is out of context, the model of the chair you use. I have been looking for a long time for a chair that allows me to move my arms up to play the guitar... Thanks. Best regards.
Can you tell me which Harley Benton Les Paul style guitar is best for Country, Shadows and Mark Knopfler? I also need the Slash and Gary Moore sound. PS. I already have a Tele and a Hank Marvin Strat.
Hey Jon, it’s a bit off topic, but what’s the contraption you have sitting on top of your amp, holding your pedals??? I’ve been looking for something to sit on top of my head that works like that. I’ve resigned my self to just t making something. But, if there’s a product on the market, then I’d love to check it out. Yet, HB guitars (among others) are putting out exceptional gear (under $500) if you don’t mind what seems to be a gamble when it comes to the QC of these companies. That’s always the challenge when putting out a guitar in this price range. Short of that, it’s excellent knowing there are companies out there waiving their middle fingers at the big boys charging obscene amounts of money for guitars the bulk majority of which was cut by a CNC machine, then “assemble” by employees.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Nice! I see so it’s a fairly straight-forward pedal board you just have sitting up-right on the amp. I’m trying to find a way to do that, myself, given I play the same way you do….sitting down 99% of the time 9and very few pedals. That’s a cool product. I’ll definitely check those out….thank you for letting me know!
I wish they used a more black fretboard similar to ebony. The roasted jatoba has some red nuances which is fine on other guitar but with a black guitar, it's a bit disappointing.
Very nice playing! That guitar looks cool as well! I'd leave the truss rod cover plain black, and make the Harley Benton logo smaller, like Friedman logo on their guitars, small but classier, my take... Thanks for the vid. Cheers! I am sending you an e-mail, :). Check the junk mail, if it doesn't go through. 🎸
Does anyone know it the Tone switch is Push /Pull ? The website says "coil -split" which we know is wrong... I'm wondering it allows for series /parallel operation ... AND if the pickups are RWRP, which reduces noise in the middle switch position ...
Just description copied from the ones with humbuckers, never trust the descriptions on Thomann. 100% sure there is no fancy switching here, unless these are stacked pseudo P90.
It just occured to me that with the two volume controls one may be able to leave the selector switch in the middle to eliminate the 60 cycle hum or hiss while bringing up or down either pickup volume and still mantain the hum cancel. Might work not sure.
It's Black Gold theme guitar, but it looks like the knobs, switch, strap button and pole piece on the pups are not. The screw on the back cover are not gold too 😂
Wow, I was hoping Jon would review this particular SC Custom 3. He did not disappoint! But that inlay on the headstock is an eye sore...who came up with that? Maybe it can be covered with a sticker.
I really like your style but there's a question I would like to put:- why don't you never use your little finger?....as a matter of fact when I was 20/21 I never use it for soloing but one day a freind of mine told me to use all the fingers.😅
