What do you do in Minnesota in the winter: ice fish, ice skate. play hockey, ski, have snowball fights, make snow angels, make snow forts, snowshoe, walk around the many lakes, snowmobile, make a snowman, and enjoy the weather. I always say we live longer up here because we're flash-frozen.
I totally feel Tim on that one, also being a southerner. And, that hot tub snow angels, is how you turn a Bass into a Tenor in 2 seconds flat. ............. ''Now if you'll excuse me. I'm gonna drive south until the air no longer hurts my face.''
I have lived in Minnesota my whole life and this video pretty much says it all! Yes, -12 is cold but during the polar vortex (about 2-4 weeks of winter) normal temps can dip into the -20’s and -30’s with -50 to -60 wind chills. We definitely hibernate as frostbite can happen in minutes when this cold. And snow angels are a thing, I’ve done it and it does sting when jumping back into the hot tub. Lol!
Tim is a brave soul and I absolutely love his humor!!
Tim is naturally funny, And I love his dry delivery and sarcasm. Unrelated- have you listened to their cover of Winter Song yet? It’s one of my favs.
The lady that said "curl" meant that she plays curling, you know: where you slide a "stone" on the ice and two people are in front with brooms ? 😉
There are MANY storytime with Tim on their channel…they are ALL funny.
My face hurts from laughing! ❤️ Gotta love Tim!
Tim is so funny 😂😂
Well...! I understand Tim COMPLETELY! YEP! I'm from South Georgia y'all! So... Nope!
This is one of my favorites! Tim is so funny! I really love him!
For a couple of more fun one's check out some fan recorded video's of STORY TIME WITH TIM! From some live concerts!
" WHIP NAE NAE "
&
" NATEMARE'S "
Lot's of fun! I'm sure that other Home Fry's will give you more suggestions too! Thanks!
This is even funnier when you know that his first professional a capella group was based in the Fargo, ND, area. You think Minneapolis has cold and snow... Ha! I grew up just outside of Fargo. I live in the Twin Cities now and it's like being in the tropics.
You really need to watch storytime with Tim from concerts they are so funny.
Polar plunge is cutting a hole in the ice and jumping in usually to raise money for like St Jude's or something like that I live in Wisconsin we have polar plunge's here also
I have watched this a few times & always get a chuckle. Love Tim's sense of humor. If he wasn't a singer, he could make a career as a stand up comedian with his dry wit & monotone delivery. He was brave to go from the hot tub to making angels in the snow. I spent part of my childhood in Quebec Canada & we had long cold winters there. But also remember the fun we had toboggining & skating.
If I ever go to USA, I'll go to Minnesota, Washington or Montana. The last place I'll go to is Texas. As a Finn I can take -30 degrees, but I cannot survive anything above 90.
I love that it was a MENSA card. Humble brag lol
Where I used to live in northern BC Canada it was like Minnesota in the winter. The cold made me tough and taught me never to complain about the cold.
When that lady and man in the bar said, "I curl" Curling is a winter sport that is like chess and shuffleboard that involves pushing large stones of granite down the ice.
Also fun fact, the snowblower was invented by a Canadian.
I’ve watched this video several times and crack up every time
Grew up in central NY. Living in Florida since 1998.....we don't deal with it anymore.
Tim lives near Nashville.
I grew up and still live in Northern Minnesota and remember many -40 temps without the windchill, however on the warmer winter days we went sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing (without the heated fish house) skating, and just having alot of fun. Now that I am 60 I don't enjoy the snow and cold as much but I don't hate it either ❄
😂 Dang, D. This was a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for your comical, yet true, comments.
Dude, you had me laughing til my sides hurt!!! I live in SE Texas myself, not too far from Nederland where Tim's from- though I've lived in PA and went to school in NJ near Barnegat Bay. So I KNOW cold! Tim's deadpan facial reactions are pure gold!!! He's SO frickin' funny!!!
Tim you and that beautiful personality of yours oh my gosh I could listen to you talk and watch you all the time.. You are just such a Beautiful Soul God bless you sweet boy .
I am from SC, and in the 90's, lived in Chicago for a year. I FEEL TIM, the cold in Chicago was INSANE...Anything below 60 degrees for a southerner is FREEZING! lol
Minnesotan here. Ya = Yes. Ya, No. = Are you kidding? No.
All seriousness, Tim was here during a polar vortex which happens about once a year in February and lasts a week. After that, it's a typical winter of 20-30 degree weather. I hate the vortex ...it gets dangerous cold then. But I can put up with it for a week for the beautiful parts of winter.
"Curl" refers to the sport of "curling", where 32 pound polished granite stones are slid on a flat sheet of ice where the team whose "stones" are closest to the center of the target wins.
Hone Free has a lot of Home Away From Hone videos of all members. And there are a lot of videos of Tim Story time at concerts from the past. He sort of indulge the audience and they love it.
I love Tim so much! I love his dry sense of humor!! So cool to see Adam in his home! 🥶
There are several more...Chance's hometown in Alabama & Austin's in Georgia....both are great too !!!
His food tours are also fun s well as "Story time with Tim"
I'm from Idaho.
I now live in Snowflake Az. ❄️
Yes we get snow. Yes I have seen -15⁰.
Yes we get blizzards.
But because it is Arizona, we don't have to shovel snow. The sun melts it.
Yay
I'm chilled to the bone just watching this. Laughing out loud.
This is how we Texans feel about cold. If I'm cold, you have to put on a sweater. 70 degrees is my bottom line. Curling is an Olympic sport involving a granite stone and a broom. We have four seasons in Texas...January, February, March and Summer.
It's snot cold until it freezes from your nose!!! 😂😂😂
He's just hilarious 🤣
this is always funny no matter how many times I watch it. you should check out their Home Away Home series, but start at the first episode because they all tell a story of their touring. thanks for reacting to this!!
Fun fact…Buck Hill is in the south metro of the Twin Cities. It’s where American Olympic skiier Lindsey Vonn got her start. Also, Tim could have left Buck Hill on I-35 and driven straight to Texas.
I just moved from Northern California to Minneapolis Minnesota. I have gone to a ice shanty art museum on a lake and hiking in the snow at -24 degrees. You don’t stay inside. My tea cup chihuahua loves the snow. California dog.
He is genuinely hilarious!! 😆
Great reaction 👍
"Ski-U-Mah!" to my fellow Minnesotans! Native Minnesotan and deep fried Home Fry here. Off to see them tonight in Mankato where it all began. This'll be my sixth Home Free concert and I'm sure Tim will have some pithy, astutude observations on the weather. (Let me tell you about doing a big band gig outdoors on New Year's Eve in -10F weather sometime. I couldn't go eight measures without blowing air through my trombone because the slide would freeze. Painful doesn't begin to describe!)
Great reaction, D1 Keep the Home Free home fires burnin'!
just turned 56 on June 13th of 2022 I was born and raised in WI lived for 7 years in WY ... I still love Snow , prefer the Cold I can't breath well in temps over 74 degrees , will never willingly live too far south ... Maybe Nashville but nope to further south than that and Honestly Want to live in Montana!
When i was a kid we tied an old car trunk lid behind a ford tractor and pull each other around in the fields in summer and winter. One thing was your but got really hot in summer not so much in winter. You had to avoid the cows loafing trees or you could get a used grassy lunch. Adam, Chris, and Rob all live in Minnesota.
This was really fun, love Tim’s travelogue and your hilarious New Jersey commentary. I understand, because I was born and grew up in Texas and live in New England now. Unlike Tim, it’s hot weather I can’t stand, it totally flattens me. So I’m willing to put up with some snow to avoid the killer summers. The springs are very long and utterly gorgeous and the summers are mostly mild. The winters are nowhere near as cold as the upper Midwest because we’re near the ocean. Of course that means we do get a few hurricanes, but not as many as in southeast Texas.
Check out curling, an ice sport that’s a cross between chess, bowling and ice hockey. It’s in the Olympics.
I’d like to know what Tim’s stick-on name badge at Buck Hill said. Maybe “South Texan, Thaw when frozen.”
That's actually where the group started in Mankato Minnesota. Rob, Adam, and their producer Darren Rust still live there.
Texas is fantastic when Alaska doesn’t decide to come for a visit and our power system shuts down! It’s Hotter than the hips of Hades in the summer (avg temp 100+) but it is home. Tim is from Houston - where hurricane Harvey hit several years ago. Dallas Fort Worth deals with Tornadoes every spring.
Thank you for this one. The Home Fries have been enjoying their sense of humor for years and all their other sides too. Great reaction
"winter's gotta be a good 2-3 months!" Yeah no. Speaking as someone who lives in Minnesota. Winter's more like 6 months of like 30 degrees max
Tim moved to Nashville a few years ago. He and Austin both live in Nashville. Visiting Adam and Darren Rust (producer).
Not snow... it's the ice. It's always funny when northerners come down bragging they can drive in the Snow..... then they realize that the snow is slippery because of the ice. Now that's funny. Lol
I love Tim
It's funny, so sarcastic.
D, I have lived in upstate, NY all of my life. I have five siblings, four sisters and a brother. My parents and all of my sisters moved to Florida… decades ago. My brother and I are still here. I’m now in my 60’s and let me say the only reason why I’m still here in the winter is because I married a woman WHO LIKES COLD WEATHER! We are complete opposites when it comes to the weather. The inside of our house is cold, year round! Call me picky, but I don’t like waking up in the morning and seeing my breath. I probably set the land speed record for getting from our bed downstairs to the coffee pot. My eskimo wife will eventually wander down to the kitchen wearing a short sleeve shirt, shorts, with flip flops on. 👀 She’s not right in the head.
I can tolerate seeing snow from, oh let’s say, Christmas Eve to the day after New Years day. Then I want to pack up my warm weather cloths, golf clubs and motorcycle and head to where my sisters are until the end of April. I’d miss my wife, but then again, absence does make the heart grow fonder.
I was born and raised in southern Calif, I moved to northern MN(about 45 minutes from the Canadian border)9 years ago, don't ever want to go back, call me crazy but I love it out here, especially the winters
Lots of babies being born in August through October!!!! I live in central Minnesota. Curling is a sport where a smooth stone, I believe made from granite, is pushed on ice toward a target. The ice is swept in front of it to speed up or slow it down and give it its direction (involves friction, physics, etc). Look for it being played in the winter Olympics.
Hilarious, thank you for the giggles!
Absolutely loved this and your reaction. I hope you do more of these... any Storytime with Tim is amazing!
Thirteen is warm for Minnesota. It is beautiful when it is old like that. I live in Wisconsin which is colder. Cheese curd are good
This is one of my favorite home free blogs, and I still giggle every time! The Rupp brothers and Tim always get me laughing the most! 😂 Thank you!
This was fun to see your reaction as a fellow Home Fry (literally in a way). I'm Minnesotan (born, raised, live, & will probably die in Saint Paul, Minnesota) - come visit & we can do Buck Hill together! I grew up on Buck Hill, but haven't been in ages (haven't been skiing in years either). When I was a kid, it was the rope at Buck Hill. And sledding while crashing into the garage is no big deal. I run hot, so I like the winter. I love turtlenecks, but never really wear them anymore because I'll be too hot. Even when it's insanely cold & the middle of winter - I'll be wearing t-shirts with the fan on me so I don't overheat.
Snow shoveling is actually really fun - I can't do it as much as when I was a teen (I'm 30 & have chronic pain), but I still enjoy doing it & listening to my Christmas playlist as I shovel. So I get to have fun singing as I shovel. The hot tub in winter is fantastic! Growing up, my family would go to Great Wolf Lodge for winter vacations. One of our best parts was the water park (and eating crushed ice while getting to watch Disney channel) - spend all day. My mom would read as my sister & I would enjoy ourselves for hours on the rides and lazy river and hot tub. There was a hot tub pool with 3/4 inside and a small outside part with a plastic strips curtain separating the two.
This is the Midwest during the winter (as children & teens - early to mid 2000s). So we'd always sit in the outside part because the cold of the winter air & winter breeze on your face and neck helps keep you from feeling too hot and you enjoy the hot water even more. Also we loved swimming underwater, fully submerge ourselves and then pop back up and sit with our hair on the concrete edge. Because our wet hair would freeze and stick to the cement/concrete and sting when we un-stuck it. Then submerge and do it again. Over and over (yes we would stick our tongues on cold metal in winter to freeze & enjoy the sting). We have a hill right outside our house for sledding, local library a few blocks away has a large hill. Then you get cocoa, fire in the fireplace, and scrabble as you listen to Old Time Radio Shows (which are awesome & you should check out if you don't know them) back inside... I had great winters (& general childhood seasons) growing up!
I live in Florida and feel Tim's pain
Thank You for sharing!! I didn't know they did these types of videos!! Fantastic Humor!! Learn something new everyday!
Adam and Rob both live in MN. Tim and Austin are in Nashville, TN, and Chance is in CA
He lives in Nashville but is from Texas
exactly...from Nederland, Tx but lives in Nashville for a few years now
This was FanF**kingtastic!!! I live in Michigan and I can relate!!🤣👍👍😎
It is so much fun watching Tim being so sarcastic and goofy. I am from southeast Texas also. Last year was tough for the short time we froze. -9 degrees for 4-5 days. We didn't have much snow, just a lot of ice. Really hard to walk on. Lots were out of power for 3-4 days. I was lucky, lost power for only 4 hours. But the heaters had a hard time keeping up. Hoping for better this year. Thanks for a great reaction. It was fun.
You mentioned wanting to live in Texas in the Southlake, Grapevine, Keller area. That’s where I live. Today was Christmas and it was 84! Not usually this warm!
Tim is from Texas buy pretty sure he lives in Nashville area now. That storm hit Oklahoma and north Texas in late October 2020 and knocked out power to roughly 450,000 people. I had friends without power for almost 3 in Oklahoma City.
Some of us know about winters. I drove a truck as far north as you can drive in Canada. But yes watching my fellow Texans try to drive. But there is a reason I live in texas I like warm weather. But tim grew up an hour east of me. So I know where he's coming from. I like the 40 year round. Lol
I know EXACTLY how he feels. We grew up in the same small town (Nederland,Texas) and graduated from the one and only high school. I DON'T like snow and YES we did freak out to that snow stuff !! If it's below 65 THEN IT'S TOO COLD !! LOL. BUT I would do the snow tubing though !!
i have watched this a few times, i live in New Hampshire in the mountains, gets pretty cold here too, but not normally as bad as they get it. We have snow tubing parks around here also, they are a blast. you do not have to keep climbing the hill like when i was a kid, they have stuff that like moving sidewalks to get you to the top. Its fun when they have night tubing. Then when your done ,its sit in front of the fire and down your choice of adult beverages. I am 63 years old and i go with the grandkids.
After being frozen into our Montana apartment for a week in February of 1989 when we excited to see the temperatures get up to -10 degrees, this looks like a cake walk! #MontanaNative
I live in Wisconsin and love the cold and cheese curds. We have thirty below wind chills. Polar plunge is when you jump in a lake in a swim suit when it is zero degrees.
Too funny. I love the snow. I grew up in PA and NH and now live in Colorado so yeah I know snow. It doesn’t bother me much. I don’t like super cold temps though. I’ve been through -24 and that’s too cold but otherwise I don’t mind it too much. Tim is a nut and is very witty and crazy. Love him and Home Free. Loved your reaction D. Have a wonderful Christmas!😍
I'm a Floridian I would have no idea how to drive!
As a Wisconsinite I did laugh too hard. Adam suckered him so bad but they all prank each other all the time Tim should have been more suspicious Giggle. Tim is From TX he now lives in Nashville TN
omg that be mad funny l be born and raised in western massachusetts(new england) and while winters can be brutal least they dun be that brutal l also canna believe tim made a snow angel while bein both wet and naked he be lucky his nads didna fall off
Curling is a big sport in Canada. Has been around for years.
Tim is from Nederland, Texas but I think he lives in Nashville. Austin too if I remember right. Chance lives in Los Angeles. Rob and Adam in Minn.
I have friends in Wyoming. Pinedale, WY. They say you either die of drinking or become a black belt.
I live in the south East UK if it’s -2 we’d come to a stand still, 2 snow flakes and there’s no salt in the shops, loo rolls are being hoarding and you can’t get a loaf of bread!! Trains stop running due to a snowflake on the lines (I don’t mean a human)
Come to Indiana in the winter...after a heavy snow AND Ice! You'll need prestone windshield deicer, a scraper, a shovel and those traction things to wear on your boots. You know, so you won't slip and break something.
Sounds like you got your dryer going!! Lol
I'm a born and raised Minnesotan. The cold never bothered me when I was younger but does a bit now that I'm older, although, we do know how to dress for it. I can't imagine moving as I would NEVER survive in the heat of the south and would miss the beauty of the north way too much.
Great video. I’m Canadian…and also entirely over the snow.
Another fun one, less than 5 minutes… Home Free Funny moment and Band Intros. 04-04-18
Story time with Tim about the Barnacles is so funny. Watch that one and then watch Story time with Tim about the Angler Fish....that is HYSTERICAL!!!!!
I as a born and raised Minnesotan can confirm that none of us like winter, but up here there's a common belief that our winters last about 5 months long.
Went to buck Hill for a 6th grade skiing trip it was my first time skiing.its in Burnsville,Minnesota
I'm from Buffalo, NY and now live in Florida. I miss snow!!
lol until one good snow storm - then you will forget quick :P
The couple that tell Tim about redneck sledding are the owners of the Firehouse Grill in New Market, Minn. Tim talks with them when he, Chris Chatham, Darren Rust and his wife order food there. This is seen in HF's video Minnesota Eats.
Then there's me....born and raised in Buffalo, NY and moved to Florida 25 yrs ago ! I miss the north...I miss snow
you missed Buffalo's recent 6ft Snow storm then lol, I have a feeling you would have passed on that one lol
@@ReactionsbyD I might have passed on that one ! Lol 😂
Good place to Nordic skiing.
Hello there I know that you're getting into the Home Free you need to listen to the story times with Tim you want to crack a gut
I live in Wisconsin and last year we had -29° for 2 days... It was awesome...
I always wondered why he didn't stop to see Rob.
The first person was Darren Rust their producer. Rob also lives in Minnesota. Your may want to check out some of the Storytime with Tim. Definitely check out the Whp Nae Nae one. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this video.

Tim- Snow balls are better than no balls!
Trust me that tube hill was easy.. I’ve been on one where the sides of the runs are higher and you get way faster… you can go up to 8 tubes interlocking on some but if it’s right conditions they don’t let you because you get too much speed and dangerous lol
3 to 4 months😂😂😂😂😂 try more like 6 to 7 months of that weather.winters here feel like 10 months long
If you enjoy their sense of humor, check some of these HF videos out. Even if you don't react to them, you'll get to see them react and you will laugh. Guaranteed. I don't know how they held it together. I guess that's why they're the professionals and I'm not.
