I start posting band burnouts in 2014: • Bret's Booty-Blasting ...
But when my buddy Cem had me do a 2-3 minute burnout when we were training together in my Phoenix garage, I knew these mini-workouts would be effective in helping me grow my clients' upper glutes.
Now I'm seeing them all over the place lately, which is nice, but they're not being performed optimally. You don't want to do five straight abduction movements, for example. That's cardio for the upper glutes and it doesn't build muscle effectively. Ideally, you want to alternate between different types of hip abduction movements and hip extension movements.
In this video, I explain my evolving burnout system and include a demonstration with my client Grace. I created a PDF to assist you with these burnouts.

yes thats what I found appealing too and like I said in my comment, I am a beginner and using a medium band but theres scope to move up to more resistance too. Things like this, which can be easily incorporated into your daily workout, are far more effective and easier to stick to in the long term.
Since reading your book, I have included the burnouts into my workouts. Yes, brutal but so fun!! They have been so effective for me so far. Your whole approach has given me more results in only 4 weeks that I have not seen all these years! Thank you for the great video, saved in the favourites as always!!
Foteini would you do burnout sessions end or beginning of workout? And is it only for glute day exercise or any exercise day?
@@jasminakter6439 I usually do those at the end of the workouts for a finisher. I do full body workouts so I always do one after the workouts 3-4 times a week but they are appropriate for lower body days only as well. Sometimes I might do one whilst watching TV on rest days as they do not affect recovery for me. Depends on your body and recovery needs.

High kickbacks work and I added them when the gym closed last year. Single leg kickbacks with a 10lb weight behind the knee are nice too.

There are so many things you can do at home. I never go to the gym because I prefer to workout in peace without people seeing me lol. But I workout 3-5 days a week at home with body weight, resistance bands, kettlebells or dumbbells :)
I've been working out at home since sept. 2020 and I've seen more results compared to working out at the gym.
Been a fan of yours since I first read your book over a year ago, you have seriously changed my life. Thank you for your wisdom!

I wouldn't mind a video showing elderly people working to grow their glutes. I think it's important because as people age their muscles atrophy.
Note: I began to feel that my upper body was going to fall off my lower body until I began to work on gowing my quadriceps, hamstrings and glutes. My muscles had atrophied. I'm 66 years old now. I am seeing growth but no one else would notice because that's how muscle I lost over time.
Again, I can’t thank you enough for bringing sound scientific training protocols to the masses and especially to me! There is simply too much training misinformation out there, especially where women are concerned.
I appreciate your humility in admitting that this is a process that evolves as we learn new information, so the training approach will change years from now as we make more discoveries to muscle hypertrophy.

Hey Bret and thank you so much for literally giving your free time to make these amazing quality videos for us to watch for free. I naturally have had a larger bust and virtually no rear end my whole life and when I hit my early 20s I gained a little natural weight in my lower glutes but causing a severe case of hip dip especially in one side. I started doing your workouts (I have been doing sports my whole life but stopped at the age of 19) at the gym and quickly found out I was ridiculously quad dominate. I would feel the burn in my glutes but my quads were fried everytime so bad I couldn't even do ab workouts properly for months. I started searching high a low for glute workouts that didn't work quads so much but it was always still Bulgarian Split squats (which I love) and more squats. But I come to your channel and you explain things so amazingly and have such a nice variety and although I'm still trying to find the sweet spot of shifting from quads to glutes more, you will always be my go to!!

Even a slight improvement is important. I find band work helps me engage my glutes more when I use other methods, so for me it's a benefit to my strength training.
I tried it today and was able to do the 3 minutes. Definitely adding this to my glutes and leg days

I've been doing this at home 3 x week ( I'm 46 y/o 5'4 started at 125 lb, currently on week 9 eating good quality, at 129lb and I haven't seen this perkiness since I was 15 😂the weight went all to my jeans. Consistency & habits are everything👌
I will definitely put it into action for the next weeks and I will do it as an experiment to see what type of results I’ll get from my clients 🙌🏻

I do this 6 days a week before using weights...these are my fav exercises.
