- Hi, friends! Today I'm sharing how I make Block 4 of the 2023 Scrappy Sampler. This is an appliqué block and you can choose your method of appliqué. I'm using the freezer paper method.
You can find the pattern for block 3 here- jessicadayon.blogspot.com
The 2023 Scrappy Sampler is a completely FREE scrappy quilt along that I'm hosting starting December 26th, 2022 and running until April 2023. You can find the details and schedule for the 2023 Scrappy Sampler on my blog- jessicadayon.blogspot.com/202...
As I mentioned in the block 1 video, my favorite iron is an Oliso ProPlus SmartIron. Oliso was kind enough to give a discount to my followers! You can get $20 off a ProPlus SmartIron using the code Pro20 at checkout. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could also use my affiliate link (the price stays the same for you but I make a small commission on any purchase you make through my link)- www.oliso.com?aff=100
If you have any questions, leave them in the comments.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you for demonstrating the freezer paper method. I've never done it before and showing us step by step makes it easy to follow. Beautiful flower! Thank you!
You are welcome!
Thank you soooo very much for demonstrating this method. I've done some of this before but you taught me a LOT more still. You're a great teacher.
Thank you very much!
I am sitting here with my mouth dropped open! Turning and using starch is a game changer. OMGOSH! Love , love, love!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed that tip!
I like your job
I just used this method very first time! The only problem was the tips of the leaves for me, but hey, just started sewing. You are an excellent instructor! Thank you.
Great job! That is wonderful! The tips are always difficult- I struggle with getting them nice too. I think that'll become easier with lots and lots of practice.
You are an excellent teacher ♥️
Thank you again!
It was super satisfying to watch you applique this close. Your applique is very nice, and your stitches are very tidy :) Happy New Year!
Thank you so much! Happy New Year!
Just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your process. I look forward to seeing more quilting videos.

Thank you very much! I do plan to keep posing to go along with patterns I release or to teach blocks.
Thank you. I did not know how to do freezer paper
You’re welcome!
I had no idea how to do appliqué so this is great! Thanks so much.
You are so welcome!
Wonderful video - thank you! Do you have a recommendation for an appliqué glue and for sewing thread type (cotton, poly, coat?) and needle size?
❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏
Lovely work. Any reason you prefer freezer paper and starch over wash away sheets and glue stick?
I've never tried the wash away but my impression would be that they are not stiff enough to be able to form nice clean edges around like the freezer paper does.
I see some people are doing different colors than blue, as stated in instructions. Are all instructions in blue and white, or will there be different colors specified along the way? Thanks.
I designed it in blue and white because that’s how I was planning to make it. I changed the fabric I’m using but the instructions are all in blue and white. It’s easy to adapt it and choose your own palette though.
Thank you!
Your doing a beautiful job and I love your step by step instructions. But hon, seriously use a pin to hold the folded down edges, so you don't burn your fingers...😳
Thank you! I’m good though!
