Lisa, I love your style of teaching. It is as if you are talking to/with the person who is watching your tutorial. Most people 'instruct' as if they are teaching a whole group of people who are on the same learning level, but you seem to make it more personalized. You are instructing on a beginner's level, yet, at the same time it is not boring to those who know quite a bit already. You go into a great deal of detail, yet, in a way that you do not 'linger' to long on each thing/part. Great job! Today is the first day for me to watch you, and I plan to come back and start from your first video to each new one you up-load. BTW Love your design for this quilt ... keep up the good work.

I absolutely love this tutorial. I made a wall hanging a few years back for the church where I go for our craft club with zigzag stitch as you’ve just described . It was my first time to do this and never done anymore since then. But you have encouraged me to have another go. Thank you Lisa.

Now THAT is the way to do raw edge applique! I had feared that fusing material would leave my quilts and garmets stiff and this method really eliminates that possibility. Thanks for such a great video!

    Thank you for your video.
I am totally new to doing applique, but I adore the look for quilts & other projects.
Since budget is ALWAYS a concern, this makes my dreams attainable, given I invest time into perfecting my skills. I do not feel the pressure to get things absolutely perfect due to cost, so i'm ready to jump in and get started learning this craft.
My husband will also be pleased to see my scraps stash finally go down, as I jazz up little thing's here and there! 😆
I am currently putting together a baby/toddler & matching doll quilt (very quick) for my little niece. It must be done within a day or two so they can take it with them back to China. So applique will give me a look that is not only super cute, but looks like I spent lots of time & money on it (but I didn't).
I can't wait to get started!

Learning new techniques can be challenging, but it sounds like you have plenty of patience and a strong will to learn, you'll do fine, and YES....you can absolutely do applique on a budget....the freezer paper will save you so much money! Your doll quilt sounds adorable.....don't you just love the projects that are way easier then they appear when finished.....FANTASTIC!

I’m making a wall hanging with the pieces I drew in various spots like a turtle, tree, house door, etc. Have you made a video of how to make your added pieces a little puffy and protect the edges from fraying? I only have a 50 year old Kenmore. 😅 it puffs along like the Little Engine that Could.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for not having background music. I am hard of hearing and I can't tell you how many videos I have had to turn off because the music was loud and the instructions were too low, so I had to miss out on something I really wanted to see. Thanks again! Great job!!!

Here’s a thought, once you’re done and you wash that and you dry it is the middle of those petals going to lift it up and kind of Have a puckering bubbly look to them. Because with the fusible webbing that keeps the center of the large pieces stuck to the background fabric so it’s smooth. Without that does it cause the two pieces of fabric to be limp and not have a good shape. Could you stitch inside the pedal to maybe help hold it down to the background fabric?

On larger applique like this I like to go in and quilt in those areas. I like to do that even when using fusible products as well :) In the video where I offer the pattern for this quilt, you may be able to see how I quilted this one....it's so cute! ua-cam.com/video/DMwp4FJXl1w/v-deo.html

There are tips to go on the Elmer's glue bottles. I purchased mine from Sharon Schambers website. Just a few glue "dots" does the work. I was told that these tips can be purchased at craft stores such as Michael's, Joann's and Hobby Lobby. Great at controlling the glue.

You know, I often look for the tips when I'm at the crafting stores, and never seem to come across them. I believe it would be easiest for me to just order it from the website you mentioned. To be honest, I've just gotten used to controlling the glue with the tip that comes on the glue hahahahahaa.
