- Discovery Channel’s “Alaska: The Last Frontier” has been on the air for over a decade, as people’s fascination with the Kilcher family never seemed to wane. The reality television series premiered on 29 December 2011, and featured the extraordinary lives of brothers Atz and Otto Kilcher and their families, as they followed a subsistence lifestyle and survived the elements in remote Alaska. As the show attracted considerable attention, people were naturally curious about Lenedra Carroll, the ex-wife of Atz, and her estranged relationship with daughter and singer-songwriter, Jewel Kilcher.

I knew Nedra and Jewel in Anchorage. Nedra ran a glass art studio called Vitrics and taught stained glass, and that is how I met them. Nedra used to sing a bit around the studio, not bad. Later she and her Vitrics partner were accused of bilking the government by taking funds to teach people how to use computers. No one learned anything and the money disappeared. I think this was before she left for California to live in a van with Jewel. She wasn't particularly a nice person.
Of course she left for California. She was onto bigger and better money ventures and couldn’t wait to embezzle from her daughter. Why has no one ever sued her???
I loved the show and I learned a lot of new skills thanks to the people on it thank you so much.

They are not remote they live 20 minutes from homer Alaska and it’s just a lot of tv bs ! There story is the same as so many pioneers that experienced Alaska tv tv tv money money money! And now here there personal lives really who in the hell cares!

The lead photo is Atz Lee's better half, Jane. The dialog presentation would suggest the author never watched the show and just ran a ton of clips to gloss over the fact.
They are highly educated and very skilful people.

I’m in love with this show and would love to pay to stay in a cabin and visit them.
The show is all made up bologny. I lived in the barn at the Kilcher homestead in 2008-2009. I was around the filming later on and know all of them. Nothing on the show is reality.

I liked the show as well and watched probably all of the episodes, some more than once. Of all of the people, I just could not stand Charlotte. She was horrible, always negative, always whining and bitching about every little thing. And then, she puts up this fake thing about a calf. Get a life woman.

Tina; Actually, it is about how a very wicked, selfish woman stole the future of Jewel. Jewel worked her butt off to earn that future and her own mother created all that mystic mumbo jumbo to steal from her own flesh and blood. Jewel's mother was utterly and completely morally bankrupt.
That was quite interesting. Very upsetting about jewel's mother and how she had ripd her off n made her broke!! Sounds like alot of our best n favourite top singer/song writers out there that have their parent or parents as their mngers wen they're young starting out in their careers n wat do you know its the kid with talent that gets ripd off n left with no money n with all the dept!! Whilst the parent acts like a big kid want more n feeling sorry 4 themselves n cnt hold a job down... omg.. feel for the kid always!! Such a strong person always tho jewel for pushing on n keep duin wat she does best. Ive grown up with listening to her music. Beautiful💓💞💝❤❤❤❤💯% Love watching the Alaskan last frontier!! It appears that the Kilchers have some GAY family members they've made known, shown cutting up on full display in their commercial of 10/22. Wow...who knew?
She's moved on in life. She's a lot more adventuresome than he is. People grow apart it is what it is. After his accident and subsequent recovery he decides to build a cabin out in the middle of nowhere. That is NOT her style. She did the right thing. Hopefully he'll find a homebody more suited to his personality. Needs to get a move on though he looks to be around 50ish. My favorite Alaskan show was "The Last Alaskans" I really did not care for this one. None of them are that realistic though even though they state they"re all about "reality". No that is not the case they're mostly all about contrived hype that the producers wanna see to boost ratings. Finally this is NOT a country for old people.

LaNedra (sp?) sounds like a (selfish/self-absorbed) person who should have had children, as she was too wrapped up in her "personal spiritual journey" to get down to the nitty gritty of making a marriage/family-life work. It doesn't just HAPPEN!
