When you cut the audio, you didn't need to copy it a second time to paste it back at the start. When you wish to paste the last copied/cut sample, you can just paste it as many times as you wish as it remains in the clipboard until you replace it with something else. The clipboard is also a Windows feature, which means you can copy a sample into the clipboard, and then paste it into another program. I highly recommend getting used to the keys as they are default keys for copying (CTRL+C), pasting (CTRL+V), cutting (CTRL+X) in most Windows programs. I use them A LOT, when editing text like this you can use them. You can use those keys to copy text from another file and paste it in here for example, so it's very useful to know the keys as where they are on the menu isn't always apparent and it takes more time to use the menus than just using the keys.
Thanks for the tips! I regularly copy text & images between programs, but I'd never thought about using copy/cut to move an audio sample between programs. I'll have to play with that!
woah youre alive I just want to say thank you for all those softwares and programs you had showed us in your previous videos, to be honest I wouldnt have been where I am now without your help. Thank you
This video is very helpful, but if I know I need five new tracks to begin with, is there a way to open multiple New tracks at the same time? Or do I have to keep going to Tracks, add new, then select Mono five times?
These videos give well thought-out assistance. One thing I didn't see though was advice on dealing with the clicks which sometimes mar joins between copied sections. Audacity can often help here too.
Hello there. I'm looking for a certain program that can copy a voice and use it to say other things. Like for example, say I wanted to sound like a certain video game character like Lisa Ortiz's voice of Amy Rose, or the voice of Master Chief, but I can never seem to say it perfectly like the way they do. Do you know any program that can copy every pitch and detail of those certain characters' voices and use it to say other words either by speaker or text to speech? Any at all?
Thank you so much TJFREE for the tutorial I just saw your video after searching cut copy paste in audacity. You saved me alot of time and you taught people how to edit in audacity. Thank you…
THANK YOU!!!!!! This has to be the simplest anyone has put this yet! I’ve been looking all day for how to make a small correction and this has answered my question perfectly and I’ve been able to follow along! Some vids go way to fast, yours is perfect 👌🙂
Dude is there a thing you haven't done... You have been the one person who has single built my channel in terms of effects. This is my personal UA-cam account though... not my channels account. But I appreciate.
Hi just a small question. When you cut and paste you can only select second to a second. Is there any way I can cut and paste and edit in between seconds please?
I need to paste mix on top of some audio? Will I have to create another track or even another track then do a final mix into a single stereo track by exporting to the desired format (mine being mp3)
Hello very good video and thank you. I’m new to audacity, wondering how to set the play head to record from a desired measure without the play record head going back to the beginning (measure one) for instance?
This is a good tutorial for early beginners. What I'm trying to do is replace a part of the audio track with a part of a different audio track. For example lets say I wanted to censor bad words and every time someone says a bad word I would want a beep sound. And I have a 20 seconds beep sound. I want to mark, so highlight, the parts to be replaced and then put in the beep sound that I copied into the C&P memory. If I paste over the marked part it will also shorten or expand the full length of the audio track if the marked part differs in length from the pasted part. But I dont want that to happen. So my question is: How can I replace ONLY the marked part without changing the length? Is there any other way than copying a part of the exact same length (which is really hard to do).
Good question. Yes, but what you would do is go back to the begining of the track, and then record on a second track. When you are finished recording and editing, export the audio, and everything will be combined into the same track.
I know they no longer have punch copy/paste but punch roll. For editing though, how can I fill in the specific length rather than the length of the clipboard dictating what I can paste. Want to fill in roomtone for silence...My version is the latest 2.3.3.
yes cool i wonted to do Silence last night and did not know hehe. hey i like to tell you a new things i learn on my own, and also i like to ask can you drag audio out of audacity and drop it. last night i study a ideal and it work i drag audio out of other daw's to audacity with out save first and it work lol, butt can this be done with audacity with out export?
IUA-cam can detect audio on a video. Suppose I wanted to add some music from someone else's video and add it my video. Can I change the tempo or speed or whatever to change the sound so it can't be detected by youtube?
@@TJFREE Great, I haven't gotten through all your tutorials yet, does one of them show how to add the clicks or pulses your speaking of? Thank you for the reply.
@ 66lwmorgan No, I don't show that specifically, and I also don't recommend it. UA-cam will eventually be able to detect altered music used, and will penalize the account. When possible, I'd recommend finding a cover or the same song instead, that uses a creative commons license.
Thank you. This is wonderful. Exactly what I have been looking for. Your tutorial is easy to understand and follow. Your timing and voice are calming. The information is useful. I really like that you give multiple ways to do the same things. Thank you.
i am trying to save to .wav files. I keep getting a 'shortcut link" and the whole file is not there. What am I doing wrong? I go to file, export to .wav, and No to save? What are the proper steps to save my work to .wav files? I need this for work. Thanks.
Good question. File > Export > Export as WAV > Save, should do it. Check the 'Save as type' and make sure its WAV. The shortcut link might just be your OS being confused about what program to open WAV files in. If you right click on the 'shortcut link' and go to properties, you can see if its a WAV file or not. What happens when you drag and drop one into a blank Audacity project?
Interesting, but if you edit music, you have to carefully count the measure or section before you cut, and paste in exactly the right part of the beat. Otherwise it will sound like a lot of disjointed samples.
you mentioned video, adding silence to keep audio/video in sync. But then you just stop talking about this topic. I've googled on how to paste and ended up here, unfortunately answer is only in the comments: add silence, paste into new track, combine tracks when exporting
This is a professional tutorial, no background music, no adds, it is clear and brief.
agreed
God bless youtube tutorials i wouldnt know how to do anything without em
True statement.
Inr
And God bless TJ Free for taking advantage of them ❤️
facts 😭
After watching dozens of Audacity tutorials, this is by far the best. Thank you for doing this.

How do you use Trim,. When i use cut, it gives me a time problem where I have these giant gaps, and I don't know how to pull them back together

Nice video, Thanks. I am totally new to Audacity, so kindly allow a simple question, Can audacity record and/or playback MP3 files?

What is the difference between import, open and add track?
Finally! A tutorial that doesn't use Mac OS.
Thank you so much for your tutorial I found it very useful . Do you have a tutorial on Latency?
how to trim?? how to cut it and make it a new whole layer??

Can you copy and past the vocal effects from one part to another ?
Very informative. Thanks.I had a problem with some Wav files which were not being accepted by my Video editor. I need to convert them into MP3 s.

how do I cut a precise piece of music. a piece that has not got spaces to work off?
IUA-cam can detect audio on a video. Suppose I wanted to add some music from someone else's video and add it my video. Can I change the tempo or speed or whatever to change the sound so it can't be detected by youtube?
Yes, this can be done. Some people also add clicks or pulses to throw off the AI that is checks the audio.

Great tutorial, thank you.
