AOT is definitely one of the greatest shows ever made and the greatest one that I've watched. Astonishing plot, characters, animation, voice acting, foreshadowing, twists and turns, emotions all over the place. And ofc soundtrack in this show is absolutely GOD tier, including openings, endings, osts, which make 200% more sense after finishing the show. Undoubtedly recommend You to dive into this amazing journey and can't wait to follow your reactions!
yes! especially how the extended version calls back to this song, they fit so well together as Rumbling is from Erens pov and Under the tree is Mikasa talking to eren
Its hard to even call UtT an ending song for a movie special when its nothing but Opening to both the mind and body. In some ways for me personally it even surpasses the Rumbling which is no small feat in abd of itself because that is a song and opening that someone has to vehemently be a hater to so much as not like.
Please watch attack on Titan. And please document your journey watching it. also, I would highly recommend that if you are going to watch it, never look up anything until you complete the show. Also, be weary with comments because sometimes people will spoil things. There are some bombs that you could be spoiled on. Already what you know could be considered spoiler but even with the knowledge you have, the show will still be amazing for you to experience. For me, it’s up there with breaking bad. It also has a higher average episode rating on IMDb then even breaking bad does. So just some food for thought.
I saw them live earlier this summer on the festival circuit and they hooked me. I can't wait for them to come back to the states so I can catch a full headline show. 25 minutes wasn't enough.
The Japanese metal scene is a treasure trove of interesting music. I think this was a very smart choice for the opening theme of this part of AoT. That said, if you enjoyed SiM, I think you'd really enjoy Dir En Grey. They've got an extensive catalog that's really hard to pin down with just one short genre description. A great first look at all they can do is Vinushka. It's a longer more prog metal piece that really highlights what they're all about ua-cam.com/video/BVhAVHcu-r0/v-deo.htmlsi=MACTbl0V-RiLl-h0
Japanese metal is very different from other metal, if you are not immersed in it you will notice the changes of rhythm, tone or even genre within the same song but it is something that many bands have adopted in their style. But I would like to recommend the precursors of this style, Maximum The Hormone, they are the band that has influenced the entire next generation of Japanese metal (other bands too but they are the greatest) and their changes of style and rhythm within a song are crazy and I would love to see how a composer like you reacts. To start "Yoshu Fukushu" is the best option and from there a world will open up with this band.
Would not say the same vibe...Yet it is a bit similar to "Rumbling", because "Under the tree" is about Mikasa's feelings. And dang...that song hurts so much if you are into AoT
Just saw SiM live on Saturday, they're such a fun and energetic band. Super awesome. Under the Tree is the answer to this song and absolutely worth checking out! It's Mikasa's perspective and it's actually pretty sad..
SiM is an absolute gold mine and I'm so happy for their success right now, my personal favorites are some of the ones deep in their discography but "The Sound of Breath" and "Devil in Your Heart" are the few that showcase their unique traits very well if you were to check out more in the future!
The whole soundtrack is this amazing! And the show is equally just as amazing! I really want u to watch the show now 😭 😭 I think i speak for everyone here when I say we would love to go through that journey with you! 🔥 🔥
I could watch you break down the music from Attack on Titan all day! Really enjoying your content! My favorite song from Attack on Titan is "Footsteps of Doom" by Kohta Yamamoto, which is a bit different to Sawano's work, but fantastic in its own right!
If you're interested in watching Attack on Titan, here's a rundown on how many episodes and seasons it has and how they're organized: -Season 1: One season with 25 episodes. Around 25 to 30 minutes per episode. -Season 2: One season with 12 episodes. Same duration. -Season 3: One season split into two parts, the first one having 12 episodes and the second one having 10. Same duration. -The Final Season: One season split into FOUR. It's 35 episodes in total. Part 1 has 16 episodes, part 2 has 12 episodes, both these parts with the usual 25 minutes, then parts 3 and 4 are two special, hour-long, episodes that compile 3 and 4 episodes each (they were released as single episodes, not separated). The whole thing is 94 episodes (89 if you count the specials as single episodes) So, S1, S2, S3 Pt1, S3 Pt2, Final Season Pt1, Final Season Pt2, Final Season Special 1, Final Season Special 2
Truly appreciate a UA-camr, like yourself, who is well versed in music and understands how to explain your thoughts and also does research beforehand too! Brilliant 👏🏼 lovin’ it!
Please do the outro song "Under the Tree" by SiM, it's from Mikasa's point of view while Rumbling is from Eren's POV. Both the songs fit very well together, especially the extended version because it calls back to this song.
The lyrics are rather cheeky. For quite some time, we heard about this mythical spectre of the Rumbling in the anime and what do we hear, at the start of this season? "Rumbling, Rumbling, it's coming!" That cracked me up so much, when I first heard it. ^^
If I remember right, the band was a fan of the show and they reached out to the showrunners and asked if they could do a song. You get great songs like this when it's a labor of love. If you're looking for more cool anime songs I would recommend the opening songs to the show "Overlord" There's 4 seasons and each season has a really cool and interesting opening song. 3 of them are by the same band.
You should do all intros, one after the other -it's about 15 minutes in total 🙌 They're all connected, convey different feelings, and the cool part is you kind of hear the story progress as you go.
It is nice to see somebody with silver beard enjoying this music. Just to mention - in that moment when voice is left only with guitar chords shows that Eren feels alone on his path. Also check end title song "Under the tree". Such a song, enormous dramaturgy included in music and lirycs...
Good to see you visiting AoT again Doug but if you want to have the full opening music experience i heavily reccomend guren no yumiya by linked horizon which was the first op sequence for the show
The Rumbling sort of reflects Eren's POV in the series within the lyrics, there's another opening in a different style called Red Swan which is said could be interpreted as his close friends' POV, and other openings could be different POVs, it's just a fan theory type of thing, but I like to think it's real.
No one I've ever watched AoT with has liked this opener, and it makes me sad. It's so, SO good. Eren is a character with a lot of internal anger that really suits the metal growling and screaming in a song from his POV, and the lyrics lay bare all his angst about the path he feels he has no choice but to take if he wants to save his friends. Attack on Titan is such a masterpiece. I was late to the party, only just starting it at the end of last year, and I've already rewatched it 3-4 times after that. Add one to the chorus of voices highly recommending it, if you can ever find the time.
You must, must, must, listen too sleep token! I think u would absolutely looove them! The bands musical composition skills are simply ethereal. U can get lost in there music.
Metal Monday's , Tankard Tuesdays, Whiplash Wednesdays, Terrorizer Thursdays, Forbidden Fridays, Sacrifice Saturdays and Slayer Sundays just to name a few more classic bands. Thanks Doug for all you contribute to share your knowledge of musical arrangements. Please do a analysis of Deceased... Fearless Undead Machines.
Great analysis, as always. I really appreciate your enthusiasm. Would absolutely love to see you react to the a capella youtube channel: Voiceplay and/or their bass vocalist: Geoff Castellucci.
ATTACK ON TITAN è un capolavoro. Per la storia, per i personaggi e la loro evoluzione, per le immagini e l'animazione, per le musiche. Ho 50 anni, l'ho guardato con mio figlio di 15. E ne sono rimasta assolutamente rapita. Attack on Titan crea dipendenza. Ti sconvolge dalla prima puntata. E ogni volta vuoi vedere cosa succede dopo. ATTACK ON TITAN è cruento in alcune scene, è vero. Alcuni combattimenti lasciano l'amaro in bocca.... GUARDALO! Non te ne pentirai
Akuma no Ko is the ending song for this season. The structure of that song is also really enjoyable, I think you should check that one out too! Love this channel 🥰
I can't say much about AoT as a show, but indeed, the music absolutely BANGS! The openings are great, but the original soundtrack is on a whole other level. Hiroyuki Sawano never misses, you should really listen to some of his tracks from Gundam Narrative and Gundam Hathaway. And like...any other soundtrack he's done. Sawano *never* misses.
Of course, this is episode 845, the same year the show starts!
the same year the show starts*
Wahhhh!!!!! That’s perfect lol
@SparkyTM thank you, I changed it :)
naaaah this is Isayama level💀
some would say foreshadowing by Isayama 😂😂
I never thought in my life that I would see you analyze this song😱
I mean he's already done a few aot reactions

Attack on Titan is easily one of the greatest pieces of media ever created and it has a god tier soundtrack. It's definetly a must watch!
I guess, it's time to check "Under the Tree" by SiM as well
This

Bro, Baseball Bat is super fun too. I love how punky it is
"i hear its pretty gory" my brother you are not ready lol
Dude going on about the gore and has no clue that the plot twists are worse 😂😂😂😂
You HAVE TO listen to My War from Attack on Titan

Things like the descent of Doug into fully-fledged Gollum at 10:54 is why we come back to this channel
SiM is such a unique band, any song by them would be an interesting reaction. They really love to mix metal, punk, and reggae and they do it so well!
I saw them live earlier this summer on the festival circuit and they hooked me. I can't wait for them to come back to the states so I can catch a full headline show. 25 minutes wasn't enough.
@@matthewbertram4312 yes definitely! saw them on their headliner this year and they live up to that hype!
I just finished watching Attack on Titan last night so this is perfect timing
5:17 As soon as his face went like “☹️” while bopping to the beat, I knew he was in love with this song😂😂😂

The descending strings always remind me of "in the hall of the mountain king"
The Gollum thing caught me off guard 😆
Great analysis as usual. 👏
It's so fun watching people react to this for the first time. It never disappoints lmao.
Currently binging Attack on Titan content and i was just gobbling up your AOT reactions! Perfects timing! Love your content!

SiM has one more Attack on Titan song called “Under the Tree”
Its also very well done and in the same tone
Would not say the same vibe...Yet it is a bit similar to "Rumbling", because "Under the tree" is about Mikasa's feelings. And dang...that song hurts so much if you are into AoT

This band has another song for Attack on Titan, it’s called UNDER THE TREE, it is amazing!!!
AoT is one of the best written stories ever, a true modern masterpiece, highly suggest diving into it
I went to a SiM live show last weekend, and this song absolutely went off. They are a phenomenal live act
SiM also has another Attack on titan song called "Under the tree". that came out a year later. its amazing!

Holy crap i looove this song but never noticed the oboe!!! So good, what a great texture for a metal song!
