    Oh man that video gave me trowbacks to my lovely 1978 Kreidler Florett RS with its mighty 50cc and a whoping 7,3hp. I restored one back in its original shape after a 15 year old decided to paint it matte black and slapped all sorts of stickers on it.

    Love the vintage bikes RJ! I use to race a 79 YZ400f in vintage class. It got too hard too find parts for the top end because the 79 engine was only made for one year. It had a smaller piston and longer stroke. It was a torque monster.
    I let a fellow racer ride it and he said "this isn't a motorcycle, it's a tractor!" because you could practically idol it up steep hills in every gear lol.

    • @royaljordanian
      @royaljordanian  8 років тому +7

      Same problem with this, it was only made in 1974, one year as well.

    There's something so utterly pleasing about the sound of this ... piece of art. Not only is it amazing to watch but it also brings some memories of being driven by my dad on his bike (can't remember that bike though) and just wanting to keep driving more and more.

It was such a beautiful bike and I sold it for $400 CDN (not realizing how valuable it was) because the stator needed to be replaced. I also owned several DT1 250cc.
    Yes, the 400 got the sexy tank, and the 1980 DT 175E are a very good beginners bike due to its light weight and its steel tubes monocue swing arm at the rear wheel.
    It was upgraded with aluminium box swing arm with a square headlight with a fairing, leading angle fork on the front.

    RJ when you want to keep the engine alive for some more years pull the clutch when you just roll. When a 2 strokes piston is moving without fuel it runs without oil aswell.
    greetings from germany

    • @royaljordanian
      @royaljordanian  8 років тому +18

      This particular one has an oil pump that directs oil straight at the cylinder and not the carburettor, so as long as the engine is turning, the piston is not starving of oil.

    A '72 Yamaha 360 Enduro was my first motorcycle. I loved the torque in the first two gears. That bike wanted to leap off the ground when you gave it gas in the first gears. That bike got me into and out of trouble and I always had the edge. That front fender in this video is not a stock fender. The original was placed very close to the tire and was a mud clogger and not real practical for off road. This bike is a classic and super fun to ride but the suspension really sucked on it. The springs would bottom out on a jump. Change the points regularly and it will start right up. Super fun to ride if you are ready and prepared to lay into the throttle. You have to hang on if you gas it. The two stroke engines have that sound too. I miss them and if they were around I would have one. I'd love to take it through it's gears wide open again. Toss it off into the air on dirt bumps. But the emissions are bad like a leaf blower. All for fun though.

    I enjoyed to be shown that bike. I had a fantasy over the 175 version during mid 70's after seeing it win a drag race to the roundabout and back (1/4mile each way) against a heavier Harley D 175cc also. At the time I had a BSA Bantam D7 175cc shared with my older brother. I was 7 and struggled to kick start it. On at least two occasions I actually flew over the bike due to kick back. Ahh thems was the days
