Had one exactly like this. Out of all the bikes I ever owned, this one was my very favorite. Great on gravel roads with enough power to get from the city to the country. Rode mine to high school and for years afterward. Only issue I can remember with mine was it had a bad tendency to eat exhaust silencer gaskets. That big piece of rubber between the end of the pipe and the silencer.

what a beauty !!! guess it's the closest thing to an automatic gear you can get with a 2 stroke ,no ? you just leave it in 3rd gear and do everything... i would give it a modern decent upside down fork (enduro valved) ,and earn the front disc break by the way, and 2 modern Ohlins shocks ! then things could get REALLY interesting :-)
I have the same model 1975 TS400M but there are differences. Yours has chrome headlight and brackets and chrome chain guard. Mine has silver painted same as the tank. Also your back light is different. Mine has a round back light with black painted bracket. Mine originated in Ireland and is now in the UK.
My best friend's older brother had a TS 400 back around 75, i was 15 years old & owned a TS 100 motor cycle. My TS made alot of noise, didn't travel too fast. Anyway my buddies older brother allowed me to ride around the block. Wow i was really impressed with the power, really easy to pop wheelies. Loved that bike. Cheers from 🇦🇺
I just picked up a basket-case Suzuki 1975 TS400 the other day. It needs a lot of work, but the engine isn't seized, and it's mostly complete. I'm going to rebuild the engine - new bearings, seals, 2nd over piston & rings, etc. Although mine is a '75, I'm going to restore it to look like a '76, with the black painted engine and accessories. Doing this will save tons of money, as black paint costs much less than getting parts re-chromed. Thank you for posting this video!
I had one identical to this. And I also had a gt380. Is there a two-stroke oil reservoir underneath the seat ? If there's not it must been the gt380. It's been 40 years since I had this bike I thought it was a four-stroke I can't even remember mixing oil with the gas. It was a tough bike .you will never hurt that engine. I raced a kx 250 and it was a tie. I did change the front sprocket for better Willys
Stepped off one of these bikes one night on the bitumen at about 100 kph back in 1976. No fault of the bike. Still remember the light show of sparks as we both slid down the road for a while.
I have to admit.. your video is very good... I have own more than 10 of these Suzuki play-bike., from 125 to the 400cc.. all of these are street-legal.,(with signal, head and tail-light).. When we reached the trail or dirt-track, we simply dis-mantle the head & tail-light assembly, striped off the signal-lights, and take out the 6volts battery, to reduce the weight.. push start the bike and have fun.. easily maintained and also to change the piston-rings..
My older brother bought a used orange one in the late '70s while I rode a Honda SS50. What a thrill it gave me sneak-riding this when I was too young to legally ride it.
I bought a locked up ts siera 185 for my first bike when i was 10. Soaked the top end in atf and heated it with a torch and rocked back and forth until it unceased. Got it fired up around 3:00 in the morning without an expansion chamber on it .first time my mom threatend to kill me that i really belived her.😂
First time seeing one on the road. In your video it looked like it rides like I imagined, When I was a kid I dreamed of owning one,it got me through my language arts class many days.
I had a blue one , which had a 19 inch front inch tire, when a friend let me ride his newer model it had a 21 inch front tire. It changed the feel some but that was the only difference beside s color. I think his was silver , Many year s later after many bike have 2 V-Stroms.

Thank you for the video. In 1975 Co. Springs Co at C&E Suzuki owned by the Weagle Family, one could purchase this TS 400 for around $ 1600.00. My Family when young loved Suzuki's, had 4 different models. Now this same bike in video condition will fetch between $ 3-6 k pending where the buyer is and how motivated he is.
paul grogan The Weagles Family owned it for 20+ yrs back in the 60-mid 80s. Kent was one of 3 kids plus mom, dad. Cool times riding the old 60-late 70's co.sprgs dirt trails. Awesome! Good luck.

I just bought one the same [October 2018] , 1975 TS400M. Running but needs tidying up. Will spend the next year trying to get it back to 100%.
I had the 1976 model in orange color. Amazing bike. Its only downfall off road was its weight.

Dan, I am blown away...as I bought a t.s.400 silver in color at that shop in 74. As I recall the shop was off Platte across from the citadel mall.
