    Oh the memories of the Yamaha 2 stroke. Never owned the DT but was lucky enough to own a '74 125 YZ and then the '75 125 YZ monoshock. Wish I still had them.

    I wish manufacturers still make bike's similar to these, Yes the good old scrambler, super light, low seat, knobby tires, super fun on the street and to try a trail. but alas the emissions regulations killed all this. now something close we have the Ducati scrambler or maybe the Sixty2.

    I feel ya, baby! I had a Yamaha 60 red JT-1. There's something about revisiting the pleasures of our youth decades later that's like reconnecting viscerally with those great feelings; the joy, pleasure, happiness. For a friend of mine, it's surfing. For me it's motorcycles. Especially the JT-1 and the Harley Sprint (Aermacchi) 250. I actually get the same nostalgia when I test rode a Ducati Scrambler. The size, look, sound, smell. AHHHHHHH!

    I know the Feeling, I had to transport My Grandfathers 1978 Yamaha RS100 6 Miles To His New House A Few weeks ago, what a sensation it was, the Nods Of all people on the road riding such an old bike, just bumbling along at 30-40mph it felt amazing, like you he also restored the bike from a rusty frame to a complete 'Ridden Not Hidden' Show bike, it was an awe inspiring experience transporting it the distance, when I arrived I didnt want to get off the bike, in the 15-30 minutes I had gone from not really caring about it to completely falling in love, the feel, the smell it was all amazing, and because of this I now own the bike, I had bought it off him and plan to look after the bike until I can Legally ride a bike

    popular thing to do was swap the head with one of the MX360, which raises the compression, get rid of the balancers ans chain inside, unhook and block off the oil pump/cable to it and mix the gas, they were known for killing the engines. most importantly don't hit a car on it, especially not at 40MPH+ it hurts :|

      Adam Vulture This particular bike has an oil pump so it doesn't harm it. If you need to mix the oil to the gas, then you shouldn't use engine braking.

    • @1pelikone
      @1pelikone 7 років тому

      The oil still mixes with gasoline in the carburetor and the pump is controlled by the throttle cable. So less throttle -> less oil

    I started age 10 with a Raleigh Wisp 50cc two stroke moped that cost me £3.50. It was more like a heavy bike with thick wheels. My dad taught me how to fix machinery at a very early age and i set about looking for power. I skimmed the head with wet and dry and a glass jam jar, i took a couple of thou of the barrel top to also raise compression then i set about making an expansion chamber. Other lads with mopeds used to laugh but It was the fastest twist and go in the area way faster than up to the minute brand new two gear mopeds and boy did they have red faces when this old granny mobile thrashed them. I miss the fun i had on that machine. I love your little DT and you have done a good job on the restoration. Take care and as always "Ride Safe".
