  • Update: We will not be sharing the names and locations of these hot springs due to too many requests. Although we love to share hot springs experiences with others, these could be at risk of closure if they get abused. We encourage you to Google, cross reference, research, etc... to find these gems. Seeking them out is half the fun! Happy hot springs hunting. Maybe we'll see you out there.
Thanks for following along as we explore some of the best remote hot springs in Idaho! We're on a mission to visit at least 100 hot springs and central Idaho has some of the best geothermal waters available!
We start in Stanley, Idaho, and take you to 6 different hot springs in this one video. You'll want to want until the end, because we went to the BEST ONE LAST!
Please like, comment, and share our videos. Also, please subscribe to the channel to support us! We appreciate you and love making these videos of our travels for you all!
Our hot springs go-to items are:
    Nalgene: amzn.to/3y0YuqW
    Lifestraw: amzn.to/3UBFkRD
    Platypus bag: amzn.to/3y18Zul
    Mountain Smith Lumbar Pack: amzn.to/3QlLNxg
    Quick Dry Towel: amzn.to/4dgA394
Greg listed several points of hot springs etiquette throughout the video. Here is a quick list:
    No glass
    Bring lots of water
Pack it in, Pack it out
Pick up trash, even if it's not yours
No Dogs in the Pool (seems to be debatable depending on where you are)
Remote hot springs are usually clothing optional. If you're in a roadside pool, best etiquette is to suit up. If there are families around who are clothed, respect their space and assume you need to wear a suit also. If you didn't bring one because you've hiked in a good ways, ask the hot springers who were there first if it's ok to wear your birthday suit. Most people don't care as long as you're not running around flaunting it. We've arrived without suits to families in the pool and just soak in our underwear in order to not make anyone uncomfortable.
We hope you enjoy these springs! Get out there and explore!

I've enjoyed hotsprings since 1961 and I thank people like you who take the time to respectfully clean up, maintain and preserve these gems for the next generation. Much respect and thank you for sharing of your video. A+

Thanks for watching and thank you for the kind words. I didn't get started until the early 2000's but kind of miss the adventure of seeking them out before the internet. I can only imagine how awesome they were back in the 60's.

@@DrifterJourney They were considerably challenging to find, especially without the use of modern technology and gps. We would hike to the tops of mountains and search for any steam rising from below. If you were lucky enough to "bum" a ride from a private pilot, One can readily see the steam emitted from hot spings which were not accessible from any roadway. The handheld compass was a plus then.

Just watched 2 of your hot springs videos. Just awesome! Wife and I are headed out to do the same thing in 6 weeks. Hoping to find some of these off the beaten path lesser known springs. Love that you dont publicly give the locations. Thanks for the videos!

Thanks for watching Walter! That's awesome. Idaho will help you get that count flying sky high if you really get after it. They are everywhere up there! Our list hit 125 last week (50 or so of those are ID alone). We love hot springs and the hot springs community!

Thanks for watching! I'm getting old and been to too many that I don't remember a lot of them by name like I used to. You'll have no shortage of finding them in Idaho. Especially if you snag the Idaho hot springs guide. These are all in there.

lol watching this and just as you're talking about nudity in hot springs I get an ad for manscaped ffs haha. I think even when in view of a road etc just choose your moment to "drop trou" and it's fine, can always keep something to put on nearby if you really have to, such a nicer experience nude, could totally dip all those nude IMO with good timing. Great effort with the attempted rebuilding #1! #3 looked the clear winner! #5 - so mental when you see like a hotel bathtub like that out in the wild, much prefer like old tubs like the last one, super neat! Great video guys, can't wait for next soak!!

Love your channel! You make a good team. I'm just a working stiff currently, so it's good to live vicariously...My best friend and I are headed to Stanley/Salmon area this year to celebrate our collective 50th Bdays but I think we may have picked a dicey time to go. Any advice on Fall/Winter van camping in that area? We are looking at the BLM lands. Campgrounds are all closed. We only have a short time, but I've picked out some good springs. Agreed on the dogs, LOL

Hi Tamara. Thanks for watching! We generally only stay in free camping and there are several spots in those areas. Shoot us an email at thedrifterjourney@gmail.com. Let us know which hot springs you're planning to hit and we'll see if we can send a few places to camp in the area.

10:40 So nice to bathe nude in the nature! The most spectacular is in winter with snow all around. We did that with a group of students, in the Pyrénées (mountains at the border between France and Spain, for some of us (not me) it was the first time they were nude with other people and some were shy, but after all they loved it and didn't regret at all not having taken swimsuits.

The only one that had scrub brushes was the wooden box tub. The brushes weren't strapped to it, but the ones that were there seemed fairly new

For sure! We do a lot of research to find these places and others can too. We figure, the harder it is to find, the more special it is and people take care of it!
