I ordered Pretty Princess and a bunch of other pink tulips too! I’m so exited to be able to plant tulips now that we have a 8 foot fence around are yard keeping our deer friends out of my gardens! Love all your videos!😊💖🌸🦋🐝🍁🐛🦌🌹🌷🌺🌷💐🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
I love the Menton tulip you planted. The color is apricot-rose edged with a hint of orange. She is a late blooming single, very tall French tulip, 22 inches. Naturalizes well so you have a good chance she will return. A favorite in my garden.
For those of us who like tulips that naturalize well (return every year), try the Darwin Hybrid tulips. They are early bloomers and 2 pretty pink tulips are Pink Impression and Ollioules. Queen of the Night is a single late tulip that goes well with pink tulips and naturalizes well. Botanical Species tulips naturalize well. "The teeny tiniest of the tulips, Botanical Species varieties are believed to be some of the closest types to the original tulips found growing in Turkey. Blooms will remain closed tightly in bad weather only to open and play cheerfully to the light of the sun." They are deer resistant so worth a try.
I find that if the dahlia cultivars start blooming late for you they will go later for you. I have some that start blooming in May (UK) and they end early. So if you want bloom into Oct/Nov, try putting them in late. Tulipa Angelique (pink) is supposed to perennialise well. It's a peony type and changes hue through the season. There is an Orange Angelique, which goes more towards copper. Both look amazing en masse in a container. Best wishes for the urgent fixing of your deer fence.
It's a good observation. Those and my 'naked lady' flowers really bloomed through about a week ago. I'm certain they would have held their blooms if it wasn't for the light freezes we were having. They just collapse as soon as a light frost is upon us. It was only a few days ago when I dug up some of the tubers that I really liked, so we'll see if they come up next year.
Here in 7b, i am trying to hold off until Thanksgiving weekend to plant my tulip bulbs, i just don’t want them to bloom early then die of frost in 2025, that is what happened to me this year.
I love your channel. Thank you for posting your beautiful space, its been such an inspiration for me in my smaller gardens. Also just love how well versed and stylish you are! Im in 7b MD, and i gotta give dahlias a try again (tried once, japanese beetles and powdery mildew decimated them).
Menton absolutely number one here in my Northern California garden! Still waiting for my bulb order to arrive from the Netherlands! Going wild with purples and yellows this year! And of course the wonderful Pride Mix!
Those are so pretty. I don't have great luck with the flouncy ones multiplying so much on their own, but I hope to be proven wrong. That one has such unique hues to it.
La Belle Epoque is a beautiful late blooming double tulip. Unfortunately she doesn't naturalize well so you will have to replant more bulbs every year.
It's Für Elise (=for Elise). Think Beethoven. I will refrain from commenting on your pronunciation of the tulips with French names and instead simply congratulate you with the great choices you have made.

Thank you for this posting. I'm in a bit of sorrowful mood and this was a salving tonic. Lovely piano/string accompaniment.

I also planted a few la belle epoche this year and I hope I can slowly multiply them because they have the perfect color for my garden.
