We started using 2" wide BLUE masking tape here in the deep South. Seals the vac & leaves no gummy residue. Plus, we paint a lot of pool coping, duct tape will not only leave that residue, but can pull off the new paint. We still get a good vac seal.
I’ve used the blue tape before but had that fuse on over lengths of time too. I personally like plastic packing tape . Like the red tape we use for the tape mark .
