Interesting, so Mr glassman told the politician what was up and gave him a copy of the map before ending up dead. Gee, I wonder who did it?

I so enjoy Storytelling of people and experiences from time gone by, regardless of the scenario, but "Treasure" remains a subject that intriques all.
*Note: a repetitive point I find odd is "the number of people whom come in and search various subjects related to the Lost Dutchman Mine/LDM, and they only search a day or 2", and "they never seem to organize, plan, prepare, and task a thorough search." Then, "they either skip to another area, another relative subject, and/or return several years later for a day or 2." I just find this quite off.*
If I were to make an effort to search for this or any Historic Mine site, Hidden Treasures of Antiquitt, etc, I would:
    (1) Establish a Private Funded Search
    (2) Set about "Organizing a team of individuals" (those with the necessary skills to develop, advise, track, and evaluate findings), with the education and/or experience, ie:
Geologist and Geophysicist, Geography/Topography/Map Expert,, Histor8an, SocialPsycholigist0Sociologist, Archaeologist, Anthropologist, Researchers - (like those with Forensic Investigative Skills of Cold Case Research), (the value of gathering + id of clues written and those others would overlook not recorded), and the Researchers with the skills of Investigative Journalists, (the value of reviewing all the recorded info, statements, journals, articles, for identifying what content could be most useful), and for establishing a chronological reference guide to be used for initiating a "Well Organized and Prepared Search".
Even if I were to set about my own search, the same areas of evaluating are necessary to discern the facts in order to execute a successful Search.
Just my thoughts relative to tasking a search.
I do appreciate these stories so much, wish they were an hour each!
    Best Thoughts ...

You have to get all that together and then get them to not want to give up or lose heart once they enter the search zone which is some of the most hopelessly rugged hiking in the world, you need the right combination of determined, crazy, machine like physical ability and all that other stuff you mentioned. Then they need to be able to spend 50× the money and time on the task, at least, it's a fascinating story but the terrain crushes confidence, hope and even greed after the first day, I'm a local out here and that's just my opinion, the kind of people that can handle the adventure are far and few in between and even their odds are 1 in a million. The treasure could be right around the corner and you'll never know because each corner takes a half a day to get around and you already struck out to the poi t of exhaustion, lol it's really rough out there.

Thanks Larry, if there was a Walt Gassler map. Did anyone ever find it? What was in Walt Gassler manuscript?

  • @briandm33

If you think about it does anyone know where Walt First started into the mountains to go to the LDGM after he said that he found it? Walt's relatives could of known where Walt traveled bc he talked about it. What you realize is these men that found the mine they were convinced that they knew where the mine was but what convinced them that they truely found it? Did they find gold near or around the mine its self? How did they realize the mine was there? I'm going to say this and if it's what I think it is it needs to be told that the mine is not in an area you can get to so it's really hard to locate and only a few people have been there before.

I’ve went in alone a few times. My body just don’t work properly norothapy n Diabeties. But I hike the 4 hours to the Dutchman mountain and back out. I’ve seen the face rock, the stone man and the horse face. The mountain also had the gun sights. Which it the pointed points the Dutchman said the Mexicans knew to stop at.

Gassler returned to AZ when he was in his 80s, hiked into the supers, and died from a heart attack. He was found sitting on a rock, somewhere near Pete's mesa. I read this out of Helen corbins book..
